This is 100% true. When my great paying job fired me a few months ago I was ok with it cause I was overworked, tired, dealing with gossip and I found no purpose in the work. 😥😥

I've taken to calling myself the garbage man at work. Ever since I took a bid to another department in the company, my supervision has decided that any job that my coworkers can't/won't do is going to be dumped in my lap. Punishment for daring to go some place a bit better.

This is me. I'm a nurse practitioner. Worked through the pandemic. Got worn down by all the death and the understanding that a lot of it didn't have to happen. Frustrated by the recalcitrance and the dedication to being just as stupid as possible. Sad for the innocent who got caught up. Still seeing the after-effects, especially in the elderly. There is a lot of cognitive dysfunction, loneliness, and anxiety among that population. My co-workers are retiring in droves. I'm tired. A few days off do not cure it. I have 7 more years until retirement, I don't know how I"m going to make it.

I work for a new in patient psych hospital. We are in a major mental health crisis.
Healthcare/hospital jobs are draining. The severe staff shortages have 4 people doing the job that 16 staff should fill. People burnout amd leave because the hours, workload, etc are humanly impossible to keep up with

I think Ken just described 99% of the jobs in America. They are all miserable and stressful. But unfortunately, we still have to go to work cause it's better than living on the streets. So we all have to deal with it. It's what being in adult is all about. That's life and we have to suck it up or put ourselves in a position where we don't have to work for anyone anymore.

For me, it wasn’t a toxic environment, it was the workload. I was there a few months working 7 days a week especially the last 2 weeks of the month. Other personal things happening in my life and I was tired of pushing myself so I walked. Yes I’m now looking for a new job but I am OK, financially for a few months.

    5 sources of burnout:
    1. Your workplace is toxic
    2. You're overworked
    3. You're overlooked
    4. You're bored
    5. You don't see purpose

What happened to business hours. Got to turn back the 24/7 365. It’s never enough for a business because of inflation just like it’s not for the worker. Very few making profit on baseline unless vanity.

Been burned out last 3.5 years at my job. Teaching the same 13 day course over and over for YEARS is torture. Pay is 6 figures ++ and I'm still ready to walk away.
Mgt doesn't care. Over half my direct coworkers are actively looking for other positions in other organizations.

The work place toxicity has to do with competition for better positions and general unhappiness with having to work more and more hours to cover expenses. Business used to take care of their employees and had employees for life. They decided to take profit over caring for employees so now pensions are few and far between, health care plans are garbage, and raises barely cover cost of living increases. Minimum wage would be over $20 an hour now if it had kept up with inflation and yet most consider $20 an hour a good wage today.

Covid did this to healthcare workers and teachers because, as I’ve observed, most people in these positions are women. Women were already working and doing more parenting before Covid. They were already burned out and paid less for the same jobs. Not going to post all the research here, but it’s not hard to find! Thanks for listening!

You should never like to work. Work is a means. Never the goal. Use it to get to the next platform. Never give the best to someone else. Give it to yourself.

There worn down because off all the drama that goes on at jobs. At jobs right now in this generation, it is full of the he said she said BS. Or my fav one too that a boss love to tell there employees, your a lazy worker. 😄. Another one too, is why is a kid telling me what to do. Or another fav of mine is a boss telling a kid to do there job, but that kid refuses too, so the boss tells the stupid person do that other kids job that didn't ea t to do anything. And by the time you know it that kid gets promoted like nothing while your stuck doing the really work.
I have more to say and to bring in the light so these topic can be spoken about....

I’ve learned quickly that the stronger you set boundaries and say no to do extra work the better off you are. Not lazy- just smart.
I see way way too many people
Agreeing to work weekends, extra hours, extra responsibilities without extra pay. I’m not doing that

Hospitals and care facilities staff at the minimum level required by law. They don’t care about patients or staff. Staff also needs to get off their cell phones and pay attention to patients. If staff have down time, they should use it to comfort patients. Chat with them and give back rubs, don’t text and surf the internet.

My current company is union and a decent job, has a pension, not bad but we have this one foreman who is like a full time gossiper, . Never seen anything like it. He can't stop talking about everyone and anyone on the team. He complains non stop and he spies on co workers only to see if he can find them making a mistake not to help them but run around and tell others. He's even had morning meetings talking about people for 45 minutes at a time. Thankfully I'm another crew now. My thoughts is the guy is really bored with his life and unfulfilled. By the way I'm in construction and excavating. Believe it or not construction has a ton of negative soul sucking people. But it pays OK.

Cash don't mean squat when you can't get the resources Out of the ground due to government restrictions. There are some things we can hold our government to account and encourage other people to not persuade the government to restrict access To those resources.

The problem is not minimum wage. It's rising cost of goods.
Raise the minimum wage? Then be ready to pay more for goods and services from businesses who will choose not to absorb the extra costs of employee wages.
