  • To find out what being a stuttering skater means to me, please read the full description, much love.
    In this video, I "Street Skate" New York City at a rapid pace in the Slades Skate Shoes (www.flaneurz.com/en/slades/ho.... I begin at Colombus Circle and skate through the heart of the city that never sleeps, down through Times Square and back up to 5th and 59th in time to pick up my newly repaired phone from Apple.
    My Stuttering Skater Story:
    My experience with Stuttering and Skating are quite related.
    After years of speech therapy and not achieving the fluency goals that more than 20 specialists promised me, I started treatment at the American Institute for Stuttering.
    Their approach was to help me stutter freely and take away layers instead of suggesting speech modification methods that just added to my frustrations with stuttering. They truly gave me this element of freedom that I wasn’t able to achieve prior and focused on making me the most powerful and genuine communicator I could be.
    The reason I love skating so much is the freedom it gives me. It makes me feel that I can go anywhere, express myself authentically, and forget about the complexities that life throws us sometimes.
    I’m so very thankful to AIS and to skating for genuinely allowing me to feel this freedom in different ways.
    I’ve partnered up with SLADES. They make this awesome skate technology that will give you an optimal level of freedom in many situations. Slades has been generous in supporting me and this campaign specifically. All affiliate revenue will go directly to the great organization that has helped me become the communicator and person that I am today, The American Institute For Stuttering.
    My goal is to raise awareness for people who stutter, which is often misunderstood, yet 1% of the world stutters, that’s 70 million people, while helping AIS’s work to offer effective stuttering therapy for every member of the community, regardless of their resources. My goal is also to help as many people access the feeling of freedom from skating. This campaign enables me to do both at the same time! Use my code ARISQUAD for your Slades Order to get 5% off on a great product while also supporting such a phenomenal organization in AIS.

    Watching you flow so effortlessly in traffic, with a drink in your hand is so inspiring. I struggle to skate outdoors and I want to try so bad! Maybe while my team is on practice break I'll go out near my office and skate around the block a couple times to get started. Keep up the amazing roll(s)

    Amazing video! Question for you, does the traffic have any issue with you skating and weaving between them?

    Love the video! what wheels are you skating on? Are they the stock ones that come with them or have you fitted them yourself? I’m looking to get a pair and fairly new to skating, wanting to skate on concrete and not sure if the stock ones would be ok for concrete skating a pose to skating at a rink. Keep the content up!

    Hey, @thestutteringskater2401. I love how smooth you make this look. Are you rolling on the stock wheels/bearings that came with your Slades? Or did you swap them out for something that rolls better on the streets? Thanks.

    Wow! What amazes me is how you went to go grab a drink and then got back to it! Smooth😂 Did you keep the skates on in the store?

    Great video. With rollerskates going up by walking seems to be much easier and graceful with the tip toe effect.

    Greta video... I have one question though. In your opinion, do you feel you go faster on inline or quats?

    • @fernandoduran2963
      @fernandoduran2963 Рік тому +1

      Definitely faster on inlines.

    • @thestutteringskater
      @thestutteringskater  Рік тому +1

      I can go way faster on inlines just because of the larger wheels etc. But these have been so much fun!

    • @virgiliod.9436
      @virgiliod.9436 Рік тому

      @@fernandoduran2963 But I think this is a bit safer than inlines because your wheel can't be easily caught in road imperfections but it is harder to drive. This video makes me want to try rollerblades one more time. That is why I'm late in learning how to skate because rollerblades has put me off.

    • @virgiliod.9436
      @virgiliod.9436 Рік тому

      Nah, I'll stick to inlines.

    • @fernandoduran2963
      @fernandoduran2963 Рік тому +1

      @@virgiliod.9436 I learned on quads when I was a kid, and kept rolling on those until I was like 18. I came back to rollerskating 3 years ago (I'm 48 now) on inlines, and tried again some quads, and definitely is faster on inlines. About safety, that depends on skills for breaking and keeping stability, and for that also inlines are somehow better. To be honest, is just a matter of what do you feel more comfortable with, could be quads, could be freeskate, fitness or agressive inlines, what matters is what makes you feel happy doing it.

    Am I blind or are you skating on jam plugs and not toe stops? And braking on those tiny plugs. Right?

  • @root123
    @root123 Рік тому +1

    How do you stop on those?

    • @thestutteringskater
      @thestutteringskater  Рік тому +2

      Still trying to figure that out. But typically, the spin stop and try to use the toe stops.
