    • @DataDrain02

      It's a decoy. The credits make this somewhat clear. Since instead of showing "The End". It shows Andross' face laughing at you. Implying he's still alive.

    • @UltimaKeyMaster
      @UltimaKeyMaster 8 років тому +19

      You absolutely have to fight Andross' brain by coming in from Area 6 in order to get the true ending. Beating Robot Andross automates the entire escape sequence, the brain one (you clearly fight in all range mode) makes YOU have to escape yourself by following Fox's father out.

    Don't worry about the Star Fox 64 3D physical copy prices guys, it's already been reprinted as a "Nintendo Select" title for a MUCH cheaper price in Europe now, but for my fellow Americans, just wait and hope the reprint hits our shores very soon...
    or if Star Fox 64 hits the US eShop, whichever comes first
    ...unless you already have an original print 3DS copy or an N64 copy

    • @mikeanthony3300
      @mikeanthony3300 8 років тому

      Dammit I should not have traded my copy of Star Fox 64 3DS for another game! Is that game really rare to find? I mean Star Fox 64 3D cant be that good to the point where its practically sold out!

    • @neneg813
      @neneg813 8 років тому

      +Mike Anthony It's been in print till 2014-ish I think plus it was bound to be out of print sometime since it wasn't a big major release like Mario, Smash Bros, or Pokemon, which will ALWAYS be printed to the end of a consoles lifespan, but why it's price skyrocketed to wallet-incinerating prices, I'll never know but i'm still hoping for a U.S. Nintendo Selects reprint very soon, I mean Ocarina of Time 3D got a reprint and that game was rare as shit before that, so why not reprint Star Fox 64 3D too? (at least for us americans)

    • @mikeanthony3300

    A series they rebooted itself after just one title? My first thought is Prey.
    About the soundtrack, I’ve never played a single Star Fox game, but I know the theme from Zoness very well and i freaking love it. I first encountered it in an old custom Zelda quest someone made for the Zelda Classic fan-made Zelda game maker probably about 15 years ago and was like, “What song is this?! This is amazing!” I’ve never forgotten it

      Truth be told, they did it because they didn't want another Bad Fur Day to happen. Not saying that it was a bad game, just how Nintendo treated Rare....changed after BFD. I can't be the only one that thinks that either, since Nintendo clearly could of kept Rare if they wanted to.

    7:49 it's worth mentioning that, for those who don't know, the reason everyone's animated that way, is that as a nod to Miyamoto's love for marionette drama's, such as Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds, Capt Scarlet, Fireball XL5, etc, the animators had the character's mouths pop open and closed like a puppet.

  • @Bladeslingersgamepreserve

    in my opinion, this is the best game on the N64. Most people I know tend to say that Ocarina of Time or Goldeneye is the best game but it's hard to deny that those games have aged. Star fox 64 has not on the other hand and I believe that if a game can stand the test of time, then it must be something special and Star Fox 64 is something truly special. One of my all time favorite games and one of my examples of a perfect game.

    • @EpicOdysseus
      @EpicOdysseus 8 років тому +3

      I'd agree that Goldeneye has certainly aged (that single control-stick style has certainly aged since the invention of dual analog sticks), but I'd deny (largely) that OoT has aged poorly. It's still a great adventure and an amazing formula that was used up til Skyward Sword.

    • @Bladeslingersgamepreserve
      @Bladeslingersgamepreserve 8 років тому +3

      EpicOdysseus Yes, OoT's formula is still used today but just because that fact is true doesn't mean OoT does it the best. Just about every other 3D Zelda game that has come out in the years since OoT uses the formula to greater effect and in general just plays better. Hence why I say OoT has aged. When they remade it for the 3DS, they actually did have to do a lot of tweeking to make it easier to play. They had to tighten up the controls (though I found it a little harder to play with the Joy Pad) and they had to change some of the graphics around, particularly in the Water Temple so it was less frustrating to play on top of adding some new things to the interface for the sake of convince. Then look at the 3DS remake of Starfox 64. Very little was changed apart from the graphics and the reason for that is that nothing needed to be changed. And I know some people will say that Star Fox 64 is a much simpler game but that's part of the reason why it has aged so well. It kept things simple, kept in mind what the hardware could do well and focused on making the game fun above all else. OoT was just a little too abishous for it's time and has thus suffered from age.

      Final Fantasy doesn't really have any overarching narratives though. Every game is in a unique setting with unique characters and a unique history. When it's baked into the series core essence, I don't think it's right to call it a reboot.

    This game I have spent so much time on playing it alone and having a blast in the process. So many childhood memories playing this beloved classic and eventually buying it on the Virtual Console and 100% the game entirely, including the infamous Expert Mode. Which by the way John, if you thought Level 3 in the original Star Fox was bad, Expert Mode can and will put you to the test. Trust me. I've done it before and it is insane.
    And now, time for some Star Fox Fun Facts and Lore!
    1. The reason why Fox knows Bill in the first place is that Fox and Bill used to be in a Military Academy long before the events of SF64. It wasn't until after Fox received word from Peppy that he and his father, James McCloud, had been betrayed by Pigma and James was captured (then most likely proceeded to be tortured to death) by Andross. It was at that point that Fox would go on to create a new Star Fox team to not only honor his father's legacy, but to take Andross down.
    2. As for why Falco and Katt know each other us because Falco used to be part of a gang with Katt. This is explored a little further in the Star Fox manga. Yes, there is in fact an official Star Fox manga. It bridges the gap between the events of SF64 and Adventures, which also explains a certain event at the end of Adventures. I recommend giving it a read, it's some good stuff.
    Though Falco being part of a gang before joining the Star Fox team does explain why he can be a jerk sometimes.
    3. There is a surprising amount of background detail in certain areas of the game. For example, the planet Zoness used to be a galactic tropical resort and the birth world of Falco. Of course, Andross' forces invaded Zoness and made it a toxic waste dump. You can imagine how hurt the bird was about his once great home being turned to crap.
    4. In the European version of Star Fox 64, Lylat Wars, there was an extra voice option added called Lyatian. This voice option helped mimic the SNES voices if anyone was curious enough to hear it.
    5. Gaining all of the Score Attack medals in the normal game, aside from unlocking the infamous Expert Mode, also netted players the ability to use the Landmaster in multiplayer and to those who were brave enough to net all of the medals in Expert Mode (like me) you will gain the ability to on foot in multiplayer as well.

    Starfox Adventures is pretty decent as an adventure game, just that everyone hates it cause it's not Starfox.

      +Derp Mcderpinton I consider it a reboot because there are certain story elements in Catalyst that would make no sense whatsoever if it was a prequel to the original. For example, Noah is not Merc. Also, Cat playes a similar role in both games, but they are different because the original Cat was raised by her father, and the Catalyst Cat was raised by Kruger because Cat's father was killed alongside the mother.

    as far as the franchise for Star Fox goes.....I seriously doubt the writers for this doesnt know what to do with Star Fox cause they seem to only do remakes/reboots and just attach a gimmick to it. In fact i think Nintendo is really starting to run out of ideas with ALL their franchises. I dont have high hopes for the NX. Its gonna be another gimmick console.
    Really wish Nintendo would stop with the gimmicks.

      I think Zelda Breath of the Wild looks amazing, absolutely beautiful and star shinning
      I'm very disappointed in them treating the Paper Mario and Metroid Series, as it looks like they do not give a single fuck about them
      Nintendo will continue to surprise me, in good and bad ways
      We have to wait to see what turn we have for now, especially with this new console coming out
      I try to keep my expectations low, to see how they'll either blow me away or disappoint me
      No matter what. I'll always love Nintendo for what they've done
      Not saying that you said that, it's just how I feel lol

      "Writers?" Miyamoto is the writer.

      Carsonj13 Miyamoto isnt the writer. He is just a creator and content producer. He has other people to write for these games.

      Xanderstrife Really? I remember him saying something about delaying the game to make the story the best possible version of Star Fox 64's with time portals and such...

    I really loved Starfox Adventures. It was something different and I have fond memories of playing it over Christmas break back in high school. I still think it holds up well.

    2:39 Well, in terms of gameplay, Sonic does that every other game.

    Well here's something a lot of people seem to forget. You can get to the good ending of the game WITHOUT ever needing to use the Submarine or the Landmaster even once, there's multiple routes to it.
    Example 1. : Corneria, Sector Y , Change route to Katina, Change Route to Sector X, Secret warp to Sector Z , Area 6, Venom2
    Example 2 . : Corneria, Meteo, Secret Warp to Katina, Change Route to Sector X, Secret warp to Sector Z, Area 6, Venom2
    Or heck, you can even just go easy stages up to Sector X, secret warp to Z and go Venom 2, BAM.
    This way you both avoid the annoying Solar stage, don't have to finish Macbeth's railroad track change with the Landmaster AND you also don't have to go to Aquas (Though let's face it, Zoness is an awesome stage) All Arwing stages of varying difficulty, and none of the gimmicky experiences. The sheer amount of player choice in how to route the game to Venom 2 is astonishing.
