Dingwall's are truly masterful instruments, I've had the pleasure of playing a couple and hope to get one someday. Great video guys!
Duuuude. After i got mine, i sold my other basses and haven't looked back. the ng2 is just soooo good.
With this ain't Dingell Dingell is a flipping town of not quickscoping cod players
@Vanja Kapetanovic Off the top of my head, I THINK NG2's are generally more affordable than the NG3's (if that's a concern for you). The main difference seems to be that they swap out the two pickups in series position for all three pu's in series - Check Dingwall's site for detailed pdfs. But honestly, you really can't go wrong. LOVE my Dingwall.
@Vanja Kapetanovic Glad I could help!
Also important to point out, IIRC, the NG2 is machined in china but assembled in Canada, so the finishing and sanding and all the QA is still done by dingwall. Part of the reason why the price is still quite up there. Could be wrong, but that's what my friend with an NG2 had told me.
Your friend is correct
Wouldn’t that be considered “Made in Canada” though? I’ve always thought that final assembly is the defining characteristic of where something is made(?)…
P.S.: what is IIRC??
Is it also true that the slot for a potential 3rd pickup is already routed in on a NG2? If so, “how to convert your NG2 into an NG3” would be a fantastic instructional video (if I understand correctly, you would also need to replace the 4-way selector pot)🤓‼️
@@bassisdaplace super late but "If I remember/recall correctly"
Why is the bass gained so low in the recording? Isn't usually this low...
Because the guitar is too loud.
Guitar is mixed way too loud in the intro... Come on lads, it's all about the bass! Not the guitard :-)
also playing with fingers just helps to hide the bass tone, very dull
That's life isn't it
They are guitar geeks first and always.
@@AngelCIto10 He plays with a pick in the video...
sounds like a regular bass in the intro, might as well be playing a squire.
Should've said "Lamborgreeny".
Get Nolly in the show!! Like if you agree!!
I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like there's a smooth flow to these videos.
I don't even play the bass, I'm here just for the banter.....
Love Dingwalls. I got a Dingwall Dbird and it's easily my favorite bass.
I was lucky enough to find a 4 string NG2 in metallic black (not boring the slightest, by the way) a couple of months ago and I must say, it is amazing. When I played it in the store, I seriously thought it was $4000 bass. I was shocked when I realised it was actually a lot less. It wasn't until I got home did I even noticed it was made in China, it's easily as good as any American bass I own, and even better in some ways. The neck feels like a dream, and the tonal variety is amazing. Being more into "vintage" style basses (Fender, Rickenbacker, Hofner), this is the kind of bass I thought I would never own, but I fell completely in love. It's also nice to have something from a Canadian company, being Canadian myself.
Great to see it here, I'm glad you guys and Andertons are help sharing the Dingwall goodness.
They finally arrive at Andertons! Amazing. Bought my NG2 from BassDirect in Warwickshire, and then got my NG3 5 string from The Bass Gallery in Camden. Both an absolute trek for me compared to Andertons, but it was so worth it. Glad Andertons finally stock them. Love mine!
Is there much difference in the 2? I've been looking for a NG3 5 string but not finding the color I want. Would I be missing much settling for a ng2?
@@Killerb567 You defo wouldn't be missing out on much. The NG2's are excellent! I would have got a 5 string NG-2 but only got the NG-3 as that's what the shop had in stock. The NG-3 gives you a few more tonal options because of the 3 pick-ups. However you can't go wrong either with the NG-2
Please put a tone capsule in a Jazz Bass. I’ve been really wanting to do the same, super curious how that’s going to sound! It would be a solid video idea as well.
Man it's great to have the band back together! That intro was righteous!
That intro jam was filty, love it
I absolutely love these basses, they play so well and feel so great. Very light as well. A more balanced and ergonomically Warwick Thumb, but still doesn't sound better than the Thumb IMO even with the multi-scale.
They’re so different though! I think I will trade in my Stage 1 Streamer for a Thumb NT: that + NG2 = BassNirvana, I will have BOTH lol 😝
Best bass I've ever played! Love my NG3❤️
Rocco Pezzin
What is the difference between an NG2 and an NG3? 🙂
@@marcoalexanderwinthermikke9132 same as the NG2 but with three pickups 😉
only 2 months more to wait for my NG3 6 string
@@RoccoPezzin I heard the pickup wiring is different on the NG-3, is that true?
@@IguanoTwix6942 yes, you have more tonal options compared to the NG2: 1- bridge only, 2-bridge/middle in parallel, 3-middle only, 4-bridge/middle (in parallel) in series with the neck pickup, which sounds absolutely massive!
Nathan has such an admirable level of enthusiasm for the bass.
Just picked up a natural Combustion 5 string, incredible instrument!!! So happy with it!
I'm just so happy to see Lee back on All About The Bass
Lee ! You're back !!!!
"Yeah".
Finally a clean tone with a
Dingwall Bass....
best duo of the bass section... always puts up great jams
Totally love mine! Hopefully having a larger dealer will get them into the hands of even more players!
Thank you very much Guys! I'm looking at a used Dingwall and wanted to know more before spending that kind of money....Love all the mid and tone options for a nice bright sound! Should pair well with my Orange Amp! Love the Channel!
the tone is insane, one of the best bass tones ive ever heard
Love the pick...best sound for us plectrum enthusiast
These two guys are just The Best …. Hands down the best reviews on the Interwebs
Hey chanse of the combustion team, loved the video just wanted to interject one thing
All of our basses are 5 piece necks
I thought so! I just got a 4-stringer, thought I was sold on a fib until your helpful correction here!
No one:
Nathan: *WHEEZE*
Luv u
You need to obtain some Super P’s also in both 4 & 5 string models.
Dingwall 5-Strings: Best Low B-String in the business!
The strap-on joke cracked me up. Had to laugh so hard.
That is the meanest sounding and looking bass I have ever seen and I will sell my soul for the green machine
That opening riff sounds like something I wish I wrote, I should bring that in the next time my friends in my band write a song
Best sounding bass EVER!!!!
That fanfret! Amazing!
Nice to see you back Lee.
I want to see Adam Neely playing Adam “Nolly” ‘s bass
it's definitive now
Sound like Periphery
I’ve waited a long time for this...
Best bass guitars on the planet made right here in Saskatoon!!! Let's gooo
Be amazing to see Dingwall do a more affordable line of NG2 models, I know it's £1500 already but for guys who want a Dingwall but need something cheaper, like a more stripped back £500 Bass would be mint
It’s about time boys
Though nolly isnt technically apart of Periphery anymore, he is still doing plenty in the music realm and (i believe) stuff with dingwall. At least getting him in to talk about his approach to bass/mixing (as he did the mixing on most the periphery stuff) would be a treat.
What a tone
You guys are GREAT 👍
Worked at AXE music in Calgary, we had an Afterburner II on the wall with a AAA flame maple top... the thing smelled like syrup :-)
Played just like the name AFTERBURNER would suggest... $3700 price tag and we couldnt keep one on the wall longer than a week
Franned frets are not for being more comfortable to your hands, is for getting a better intonation and string tension for low tuning.
Dingwalls are the best basses in the world. The NG's are their best known products, but they make something for everyone. There is no higher level of craftsmanship!!
It’s green, it’s mean, he’s a playing machine, he’s lean, he’s Lee!
Swear you haven't had Jake Bowen either (guitar)
STRAPON..............................😨😱🤭🤭🤭
🤗STRAP ON😬
You guys are the best. Thank you for another awesome video. Cheers
Muito lindo esse baixo👍
I assume you mean Bass Direct but they’re quite South if you’re coming from Manchester. They’re really nice there but you shop is next to a pub and not on an industrial estate so I would get away with by offering lunch to the Mrs 😂
Has to be the green one
I hope that this means Dingwall will come to Guitar Center soon
About time they were more widely available. They’re going to sell like hot cakes on a cold day. Might be tempted too.
Want one!!
Dingwall needs a budget brand so peasants like me can afford them
I can't even hear the bass on my system. Nothing but guitar comes out.
I think bass direct was the only place to get these in the UK up until now - might be wrong about that though.
Managed not to buy one so far, but more UK stockists really puts my bank account in serious danger.
Hi guys when are you getting the 4 string Nollys in again? Looked online and online 5ers available
Will a hipshot detuner work on a four string NG2/3?
I'm trying to stay in bass-mode but the lovely dark wood of that MusicMan's neck keeps catching my eye, and my fancy. Are they torrefied maple?
Roasted maple, the new trend :D
I own one of these and they play about the same as a 6 000$ FBass I've played
Twiist damn really?
@@jasoncarraway966 oh yeah man. The necks on these are incredible and very well balanced. They're super comfortable. The f bass definitely edges it out but is also over 3 times the price. I've never played one but the Canadiam made dingwalls are supposed to knock your socks off. One of the local techs where I live is friends with Sheldon and one of the old Dingwall reps. He said the Canadian models are unbelievable
Twiist They are absolutely savage. The combustion models are excellent, for sure, but the Canadian made ones are really something else!
Lambo-Greeney and that orange one gave me a slight trouser-tent.
What is the difference between a ng2 and a ng3 please? What brings the 3rd pickup more?
I couldn’t stop laughing for 10 minutes 16:15 😂😂
Can you guys do a demo of the Schecter CV-4?
How do the little strings feel? :D I bet they are tiny under your fingers... :D :D :D :D
Have they had Jake Bowen on Andertons tv?
FINALLY!
Actual playing starts at 13:56 to save you the hastle...
3:00 trying really hard not to say "djent"
wait... you guys didn't wrong uploading today, right? I thought bass video is Friday...
lol @ the strap on 13:18
I want it
Man, everybody forgets that Jake from periphery hasn't been on the channel either huh? shame on you Lee ;)
Nathan reminds me of Ray from the Trailer Park Boys lol
search "5 String Bass Shootout" to hear these go head to head vs some other great basses
I have been an admirer of the Dingwall basses for a while now. They look different in a great way, love the fanned neck and the fact that these NG2’s come with the dark glass pre amp and a Canadian company to boot....sign me up...NOW! But then, you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like ‘made in china’ Will never knowingly buy anything ever from that pit of human rights abuse with wanky laboratory security protocols, ever. Sorry Dingwall. Just my humble opinion and no bats were harmed in the making of my decision. Great looking basses!
But do they come in left handed?
Yes as of NAMM. They're not in stock anywhere yet though - Dingwall is so backordered you only usually see new models a full year after they've been "introduced".
That harmonic bit at 1:00 tho
I found impossible playing chords in high register on Dingwall basses because of fanned frets also these bass sounds like they made of paper.
Oh the jam at the beginning was painful
the strap-on!
Only if u did the reviews using the line in instead of an amp without eq or compression we could hear how it actually sounds like
@Toxic Potato Big budget amps make everything sound awesome tho
The white one is not the boring one.
I'm actually not keen on the colours at all. I'm thinking about a Dingwall, and I'd consider one of the NG basses if only they came in natural.
We do have a natural option on our non NG combustions!
@@tastetesttuesday1607 Not to worry, I ended up ordering one of the ABZs direct.
you're forgetting about spencer :V
IDK who the guy on the left is but he is goals.
Goals?
Jake hasn’t been interviewed either
Didn't know Chris Evans played bass.
2:00 Shrek?
Hello Skinny Lee! Are You Married? When it is right, Congratulations for You!
16:15 HAAHAHAH!
It’s all about the bass and you can’t even hear the bass in the intro
Actually these basses are made in Canada and Assemble in China
$1500 for a Chinese made instrument? Maple neck, bolt on? I would like to play one.
You won't regret it
Honestly the country of manufacture means nothing anymore. This bass is easily better made and higher quality than a lot of US made basses. Besides, they're sent back to Dingwall HQ in Canada for final assembly and setup, so it's as good as it can be.
@@CorrosionAudio I agree with most of this. Country of manufacture is generally a QC issue. They are addressing this by filtering them through Canada. However, it does impact construction cost significantly. I have an open mind but at that price, there is a ton of competition.
