This channel is delightfully real and is such a needed change in pace from all the overblown money tutorials that bounce around online. Very quickly becoming a favorite.

Hi Daniel! I happened to see your video pop up on my UA-cam side bar just a bit ago. I live in Yucca Valley (18.5 yrs now, wow!) My husband and I own a local Home Inspection Company and I am a local Real Estate Appraiser as well. We know Steve Z very well. We have done a lot of work with him and his Wife Monica. I appreciate how you chronicled your journey and I hope things will eventually work out for you to revisit us again in the future! By the way, love your little doggies!! All our best to you and your family!, Marion

The best part of this is you saying how affordable it is in Joshua Tree, but all of us locals can no longer afford it 🙃
The amount of post on our local Facebook group of people looking for an affordable home or rental is horrible. So many homes that were once rented are now airbnb's. Families living in hotels because they can't afford a home here anymore or it was sold to become an airbnb.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out in the end but based on all of your other videos and success you've had with other ventures, I'm sure this dream will come true in the future. I totally understand having to push stuff like this due to renovation costs of a first home; currently renovating my first home with my wife and it has turned into a much bigger project than we thought. Would love to have a vacation home that can be used for Air BnB, this is also a dream of mine so it's cool to see the process!

As someone that has JoshuaTree as hometown, and seeing the beauty spread into a larger community: would you all consider how hard it is for people to purchase or rent to live (permanently) in the area now that so many houses and lots are airbnb. Workers of the area need places to live so they can serve the touring community. So, be mindful in flooding the land to develop solely for tourist, consider building for the people that actually live there.

As someone who has been DIY building an investment property in JT area over the past year, I agree with you. The whole region is a contrast of borderline poverty residents and upper middle class investors.
I regularly think on how could I build my investment and, at the same time, ensure my privilege isn't causing a burden on the community? I don't have an answer.
One suggestion is to have ordinances passed by the city to limit the number of vacation rentals to a porportion of primary residences within the city boundaries.

    • @shellymartyn9818
      @shellymartyn9818 2 роки тому +4

@@constablebrew limited permits is an option that I know has come up in the area. I wonder if investers have considered building a lot for a rental house and a vacation rental. Then the local resident can watch over the vacation rental at a reduced rental rate.

Hi Ana, I am thinking about buying land in joshua tree but looking to buy prefabricated complete homes that are just deliver and drop. I would love to contact you regarding regulations and ordinances there. I see there are a few such as no rv's, yurts, and limit to 2 str property max for above 2 acres. However I do see listings that have exactly that: yurts and or basically camp sites. Are they cracking down on these listings or are they not enforcing this yet?

Air bbb & Rentals just like this are driving the cost of housing up. Using housing as a rental/investment opportunity fucks over all the poor people who need affordable shelter. It’s a bigger issue with huge property investment firms driving up prices but wealthy upper middle class and rich people also contribute to the problem. Please consider the impact you have on the local community. Glad you guys ended up buying a home you’ll actually live in instead of building a home that no one will live in full time.

The world shut down did the same thing to us (we live in Las Vegas and were trying to do something similar in Kingman AZ). We've stepped away from it twice now due to the ever changing world and are now on hold until we hit the bottom of the upcoming recession and then we'll try again in a new market with a new plan. Keep moving forward, that's the key no matter where it takes you. Save those house plans, you'll find a time and place.

You should’ve got the 1st house. It would’ve been cash flowing for you. If you’re familiar with Airbnb hosting, you want a simple product that gets booked, easy to clean and maintain. That first builder probably could’ve streamlined you through since he didn’t allow too many changes and has same floor plan with the city.
I like builders with track records because they know how and who to deal with the city. Architects will be happy to bill you changes and say they can make you anything, but you confuse the city and they’ll put you in the back burner.
When it comes to new build, go cookie cutter bang for buck. It’s hard to hit a home run on 1st shot when permitting is basically how cities make it near impossible for the common man to build a house. If they made it easy for DIY builders, then they wouldn’t have a job.

Such an eye-opening video - and so well made! Would love to know the ballpark investment to get an architect to draft that up for you1

Daniel this was super cool to see! My parents bought a property and built a home right around the same time and went through allll the hoops trying to get loans/contractors/materials for all of it. I’m happy you ended up ahead either way given the land appreciation and the new home reno, congrats! Now make a follow up to your original meme stock/GameStop video hahahahah

Bought my house brand new smart home 4 bedroom with all the upgrades in AZ for 260k….in April 2020….these same houses are selling for 600k now …. There’s no way I could afford it now … I had to get out of CA but I guess that’s the prob everyone had to…. I had thought about going the joshua tree route too but it just wasn’t as economical

This was incredible! Absolutely loved the documented process, but it was also very relatable that it didn't work out not that I would wish that upon you two. Thanks for sharing!
