what is an average of money spences with the basic things u can do to convert the bike to street legal? very very nice bike and vedio everything was on point keep it up.
Converting to street legal can be a rediculously difficult thing depending on where you live. For most states in the US it's nearly impossible. Cost can be as cheap as a couple hundred dollars:speedo, cheap turn signals, license plate mount.
Thank you very much, we it all depends on what your starting with, if you have a yzf 450 then you have to swap your stator as the yzf doesn't produce enough powers for lights, so there £. 250 from trail tech, then you need a full lighting kit which will cost you 320 from pro racing, then your sva, That's just to get you on the road, My build including the bike cost me £7000. Well worth it tho, the enjoyment of doing a build is quite nice. Take care
+TheBarnz91 +TheBarnz91 Wow! I don't think I could spend $10k on building my street legal WR('05) if I tried! I'm at just over $3k including bike(purchased with trashed transmission) and the only thing left to buy is paint for my frame. You've got one hell of a nice bike though!
+Jordan Hillard well luckily for me the bike was a bargain at £2000 with a complete top end rebuild, the money soon adds up for instance the wheels were 600, exhaust system was 520. Clutch cover 100, lighting kit, 280, bash plate 100, GYTR ais 80, vapour speedo and mount was 150, powder coating and prep was 380, Moto master calliper 320, hoses 40, the list is endless lol. I loved every minute of building it.

Hi. Yes I loved the slider too, I'm proud of that little slider lol, It seemed to work well showing signs of wear, unfortunately the tyre had already been shaved, so it was kind of tough to get an accurate idea of how well it was working. Looked the tits tho and enjoyed making it. Thanks mate
Man thats a sweet wr! Im aiming to get a wr 450 on my a2 license in september, did you change over your speedo drive to make the milage correct? Also do the 450s have a steering lock or?
Thanks buddy. I did away with the standard speedo and fitted a trailtech vapour speedo which you can manually dial in the wheel circumference and no the 05 model doesn't come with a steering lock, I'm sure the 03 and 04 models had them but I don't think they come with them anymore. If your going to get a wr, don't go pre 05 as the older models had issues with the woodruff key braking on the crank. Mine was bulletproof. Cheers

Cheers dude, I'm really pleased with the outcome, Well the slider itself is a peace of Delrin block which I cut and shaped then bored out two holes 3/4 of the way it for the nuts and bolts, for the bracket I used some corrugated tin which I was able to shape it using the swing arm chain slider, then I etched it cleaned it primed it and used some Matt spray to Finnish it off. I wasn't paying 70 for a greaves slider when I could do it myself. Thanks ukrainian

Paul Müller no, not unless you like changing oil every few weeks, they are lurchy and snappy at low revs. If you love sm's you then yes, if you want practicality buy a tiger or suchlike. Cheers

What year of wr450f did you start with? I'm planning on doing the same build and want to know if I can get away with a 160 rear tire without any chain mods.
Hi mate. This bike is a 05 model. Unfortunately the chain will scrub a 160 rear tyre without a chain block fitted, luckily there quite easy to make with some Delrin block, a vice, a drill, some files, and some paint and patience or just place an order for a grieves chain block for about 80 dollars. Any other questions just ask. Cheers

Ayzill thank you. Yea it did look good without the stickers too but that sticker kit cost me a few quid so it had to go on lol. This is an 06 model on a 55 plate. Great bike.

Hi. The rear mudguard is a polisport that comes with a rear light that I ditched for the small clear led light. There number boards are acerbis which are quality and the front louvres are polisport, but I don't recommend them if your not fitting graphics as they are slightly transparent and the colour is a little off, they are perfect with graphics tho, and the front mudguard is a universal sm jobbie. The bike initially was a steal at £2000, I then pumped 4000 into it, well worth it, loved every minute of building it, but would never do it again, I would buy one that someone else has spent a ton of money on. If your going to do it right!!!!!!. Cheers buddy

Do it mate, as long as the bike is worthy of the money and you know what your doing then go for it, you haven't got to do it all at once either, plan your colour scheme then take your time to find the perfect wheels and go from there.... Great experience.

All the bearings have been replaced for ALL BALLS bearings throughout the entire bike, wheels bearings are also new, bike has had new coolant,engine oil, brake fluid....... everything

haha!, I bought an'08 450f SUMO bout 2 weeks ago. I saved some cash, because the previous owner already made it street legal, has 17inch rims, a 320mm moto master brake system, and GYTR exhaust. I rate if I spend bout $500 it will be tip top!

Standard tank with polisport tank shrouds.

Mine was 14/44, some people go 15/44 if the crank casing allows.
TheBarnz91 It means you've changed the rear from 48(stock) to the 44 but front is the same and no change front
V8 monster yes, although most run a 50 rear in off-road format. 14/44 on sm wheels gave me a top speed of 105/110ish and sat comfy at 70

If you just bolt on a pair of wheels then yes, if you do a full rebuild using high end parts then no. My advice, Set a search notification on eBay and buy a good one that some else has taken the hit on already.
what brand front fender is that?
It's just a universal sm front fender from eBay in Yamaha blue, they are a decent price and a nice fit.
