We also had a chance to make an impact, but as soon as we realized that it was on us to put in the work, it was too late, but it is on us to still guide our little ones into a more prosperous future, or they'll only be a repeat of us. Another top quality track from the excellent 1971 album pieces Of A Man, the mix of modes is mindblowing on this album, Gil's poetry along with his warm sensibiity for Jazz, Gil was unique, he was doing what no one else was doing at the time back in 1971, he was way ahead of the game

Yes, an amazing album! What turned me on to Gil almost 50 years ago, can you believe it! The fact that he got 2 already famous musicians on his album when he was just starting shows what a great talent was seen in him. What a voice to sing the beautiful words he wrote!
When l was enrolled in Upperward Bound at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, I had the privilege of having Gil as a mentor in the program!
Gil used to come back to Lincoln University to get together with his band and play in the SUB!!! Where are my Lincoln brothers and sisters from the 70's!!!!
