Excellent explanation. A few points I wanted to add. 1. When driving in reverse, if its a rear wheel drive, the torque causes the rear portion to lift. This reduces grip and the lifting torque reduces causing the vehicle to settle down and the vehicle hops as a consequence.This effect is pronounced based on the weight split between front and rear. If the vehicle is front heavy, it will hop more. when the vehicle is driven in forward, the torque causes the vehicle to lean more increasing traction and this is aiding traction and hence vehicles are less likely to hop. You can see hop in front wheel drive vehicles but because these vehicles are already loaded with engine in the front the hop is very minimal. What could have been done from Mahindra 1. Instruct, at the least, that launching the car in reverse is likely to do severe transmission damage 2. Make the car idiot-proof. The car does have ESP, when it detects reverse engaged, ensure the engine RPM is capped to 1500rpm.Or slip the differential/ clutch so there is no transmission windup. 3. Advanced: Have bounce detect mode. Using existing sensors, its possible to sense that the rear wheels are loosing and gaining grip in rapid succession. Cut off engine power/ disengage/ loosen lock on clutch and/ or differential to restrict damage. So there is problem on both side. Users not being notified of such failure mode and manufacturer for not having tested/ contained it by design and or documentation. Lets see where it goes. Cheers
regarding the 1500 rpm restricting thing that wont be a very good idea as when reversing on inclines often we need high power have personaloly used the car at high rpm(2000-2500) in reverse in hills its a fwd btw

I think the main reason for transmission failure is due to the fact that it was done in reverse gear as those aren't ment to be used with(abrupt) high power. I am pretty sure if it was done in fornt gears most probably the clutch wears would increase but the transmission wouldn't have failed. As fornt gears are ment to handle such powers

Its also happens in trucks. Its a normal phenomenon in rear wheel drivea. Its all due to the sudden torque transfer. The only difference is, trucks are loaded and heavier. What Mahindra can do is limit the revs when reversing

Even front wheel drive cars do this if you launch them really hard. Old honda's without traction control were common with this problem after modifications. Being uneducated and ignorant is the major issue. You have done a great job explaining this issue keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻

Toh agar jayda high RPM pe gaadi utaahoge toh tyres ko traction nhi milega or suspension soft honge toh tyres wobble karenge hi with suspension. FWD cars mein bhi hota hai ye but limited hota hai kyunki engine ka weight aage rehta hai or power bhi toh tyres ko kitna bhi high rpm ho phir bhi thoda traction mil hi jaata hai. Jabardasti ki hawabaaji ho rahe hain.

Wheel hoping common issue hai, iske lia mujhe lagta hai ki anti-roll bar jo diff me lagai hai wo issue kar raha hai with soft suspension. Agar reverse k time hum anti-roll bars disengage kar de then wheel k suspension travel badega and i hope it can resolve the issue...

Hopping is normal to occur but should only occur when clutch released very fast at high rpm, which should not be done normally, thus you will not encounter hopping if you drive normally

hopping is normal when you do that in 4000+ rpm reverse gear with such heavy car with good torque. but doing hopping continuously is bad. Pressing clutch is normal, continuously pressing clutch is going to get your clutch damaged.

It's an issue in the mountains when the roads are very narrow & you need to maintain High RPM while taking the reverse especially if there is a deep Gorge in the front. Mahindra should clarify & tell users how to handle such situations.

This is the quality issue of Mahindra...why people buy 4x4...Assume that the vehicle is stuck in the mud and when driver tries the same method to get out of the mud and if it spoils the gear box then I would say that Mahindra is fooling its customers by providing worst and low quality of the gear box 😢. Some corrective measures should be taken by Mahindra. What if the hopping occurs when the vehicle is stucked in nad road condition and what if the transmission breaks which has happened in the case of Arun pawar? It's really a worrisome issue especially from an office roader..

10:10 most likely Reverse gear is damaged. Commonly Spur Gear is used for reverse instead of Helical Gear. Spur Gear won't be able to handle that much torque at 3000-4000 rpm. Edit : Just saw his original video...it might be dual mass flywheel as well IF Thar Roxx is equipped with it.

hopping is normal when you do that in 4000+ rpm reverse gear with such heavy car with good torque.
but doing hopping continuously is bad.
Pressing clutch is normal, continuously pressing clutch is going to get your clutch damaged.
Well you can try this.. Drive your car at 80kmph, and then switch to 1st gear, see if anything breaks

It's an issue in the mountains when the roads are very narrow & you need to maintain High RPM while taking the reverse especially if there is a deep Gorge in the front. Mahindra should clarify & tell users how to handle such situations.

Mechanical Jugadu, This is not problem with my Jeep rubicon, I have tried with 2wd, No hopping at all. So, This is a problem.

This is the quality issue of Mahindra...why people buy 4x4...Assume that the vehicle is stuck in the mud and when driver tries the same method to get out of the mud and if it spoils the gear box then I would say that Mahindra is fooling its customers by providing worst and low quality of the gear box 😢. Bhai kn se gadi chala raha hai......wheels seedi road pe nahi faste....agar fase to tyre ko ek support milega lift ke liye...chahe to pothole ho ya muddy ...ek hopping pressure banega jo gaddi nikal dega yehi force gurkha pe hai.
Some corrective measures should be taken by Mahindra. What if the hopping occurs when the vehicle is stucked in nad road condition and what if the transmission breaks which has happened in the case of Arun pawar? It's really a worrisome issue especially from an office roader..

10:10 most likely Reverse gear is damaged. Commonly Spur Gear is used for reverse instead of Helical Gear. Spur Gear won't be able to handle that much torque at 3000-4000 rpm.
Edit : Just saw his original video...it might be dual mass flywheel as well IF Thar Roxx is equipped with it.

2. Or bhai ek point ye bhi hai ki aagr gadi faas jaye .. forward ja hi nai rhi...to high RPM pr reverse krte hai..tb bahar aayegi...

During these redline launches, it’s common to see cars experience significant stress, yet their gearboxes, differentials, and driveshafts hold up well.
However, it seems the gearbox, differential, and driveshaft on the Thar Roxx may be potential weak points in such scenarios. I believe Mahindra should address these issues to enhance durability and ensure the Thar Roxx can withstand these high loads without complications.
