We lived in Ophir when I was a kid in the 1960's. I remember watching the ore cars dumping waste rock from the Ophir Hill Mine from our backyard. My Dad loved mining history and on several occasions he took us kids into the mine located in town. The portal can be seen from main street. Back in those days, the portal was not gated and people could freely explore the workings.
Wow that is awesome! Some good memories. Thanks for sharing that. Still hoping I'll find something to explore in that area. That's not closed.🚫 Thanks for watching.👍
Thanks. It was a great day for sure. Ophir is so cool. One of the best in the state. I think.🤔 That guy must be on hold with the IRS. They always take forever.☠
I loved this video the music was beautiful and haunting you are in pinion pine tree area they are one of my favorites looked kinda dangerous hope you are careful the land and views are just incredible I can almost smell the clean crisp air this video went by so fast I really enjoyed it love you guys keep up these beautiful videos ❤
Thank you Tracey.😊 I love the old pinion and junipers. They smell amazing.😃 Always careful. Three points of contact at all times. See you next week.👍Thanks for coming on the adventure.
Very interesting Curtis 👍...shame about bars and no trespassing signs 😒. You need to hire a shorter than average person to get inside some of the holes in caves that you can't get in...they may find treasure 🤫😉. Clouds at 12:14 caught my eye...one of them looked like Concorde, and I know that shouldn't be up there 😆...the other looked like a flying disc 🤔 Your music choice was cool again, one piece is something that a channel called BBR sometimes uses...very atmospheric 👌. Thanks for posting 👍
My norm. Everything is closed.🚫 But that won't stop me. I'll find one soon.👀 That is a good idea.🤔 I hope they will work for crackers.😆 But odds are they would just steal the treasure.😖 The clouds were very interesting that day. It's funny. We here a lot of the same music on other videos too. The list of free music is kind of short. But there is a few good tunes. Thanks for hanging out.👍
@@offroad801 'Work for crackers' 😁... another funny saying Curt 👍. 'Pay peanuts, get monkeys ' is one I like. You're right, they could run off with the treasure 🤔 Yes, I think that might be why I hear those tunes so much...but they are good 👌
I thought peanuts were for elephants?🤔 I haven't heard that one before.🤔 Only person that can take my treasure is Chantel. I will keep looking for more tunes. See what I can come up with.
@@offroad801 Haha. It's a reference to underpaying people, and getting useless workers as a result 😁. I love elephants... they're majestic and very smart 🥰 You're Chantel's treasure Curtis 👌🤩

Curt, Greetings Koda, Im an old man and live on the smallest rez in south dakota. Im retired and not in good health. I so wish and hope to get out into the southwest desert area again. For now though your videos have sure helped me take a virtual vacation. Keep up the good work and il keep watching. Ohan Mitakuyaoyasin (we are all related)
Hi Koda. So glad I can help. And I'm happy to bring you along. I love exploring new places. And seeing this beautiful land. Yes I agree we are all related. Thanks for watching.
@jimadams8182 I hope we get more snow, too. And let's hope everyone is safe with their fireworks tonight. And this lightning where I'm at stays in the clouds. 🙏👀
@ShannonPascoe-p2p Nice. That's awesome. I've been hoping to have a meet-up with everyone soon. But things are pretty crazy now. So keep checking on our page.To see what I can make happen. What part of Utah did you move to. 🤔
It’s tourists mostly or people who come here regularly but don’t really have a clue about how dangerous a breakdown in that desert could be. And how dangerous the slot canyons can be should rain appear - even distant rain.
Hello from Australia opal miner here, this came up in my YT recommendations, great upload indeed new sub here. Can see your channel growing am subbed to a lot of abandoned mines channels see your channel growing and probably quickly. @27:33 what a great old cabin I live remote rural off grid and use our local Cyprus pine for building also use pallet wood for creating many things . Can see the work that would have gone into that cabin even though I bought a property with an established house out sheds and workshop , latest project is earth packed used car tires extension think they call them earth ships over your way, a definite labor of love lol . @ 33:11 those quarts stringers in the cliff face is what they where chasing , that's why they decided to open the portal there, by the look of the rail there they proceeded. Wonder what that little bricked out section was on the left never seen that before. Ok you didn't go into the drive maybe a wise decision unless you have the right gear as in air meters , backup lights and most importantly of course experience . Either way a spellbinding presentation among the best 41 minutes I have spent on YT in some time. Yes am itching to see where that rail led but being in the southern hemisphere guess I will never know :) But sorry I digress have been told I tend to do so. May I add that last mine was one substantial operation indeed, wonder if you google it there would be any black and white pics from the day? Watched to the end and at 35:48 you said it was marked no trespassing fair call as I miner I know what that means.
Sweet so glad UA-cam is sending my content out there. I've always wanted to explore Australia. Very beautiful place. Thank you for watching. And subbing your awesome! And the amazing compliment.😊 The cabin did have some nice construction. It looked pretty solid. The Earth Ships are very cool. But yes a lot of labor involved in off grid living. 33:11 I think also they made an ore shoot in there for the upper rail. But I bet the ore shoot goes right through the stringer. I was thinking the brick looks a lot like a kiln or small assay smelter?🤔 I have some plans in the workings with another local explorer with some gear and experience. And some locations, that sound promising. That should be able to happen in a few months. Fingers crossed. Thanks again.

Only 8 people have died in the Utah desert in the last month…I wouldn’t recommend going out there until the weather cools.
