Great trip, looking up the Kay and the Fraser brings memories. You could have parked at Scotts Creek and gone up (quite a Pull up) the hut was in the wrong place coming down the Kay, almost in the stream. Fraser ends up going under Emily, also has a nice tarn facing west up on the edge of the bush, reading books etc. Great trip over through Soapstone alley! Love your Vids.........Robin
A beautiful video, thank you. I love that area and it looks currently like it did many years ago when I explored. No people to speak of. The robin's hospitality was equal to one we met on the Wangapeka Track that sat on my gaiter and picked the hook grass seeds painlessly off my legs that I had forgotten to shave. It seems we always forget something. Happy travels.
Hook grass...yeeees...very painful. Haha. Totally agree, the Glenorchy area is so pretty. We're definitely going back to do more things 'off the beaten track' in the future. We ticked the Rees-Dart off (coming soon). Kahurangi is definitely on the list.
You should really train that Robin to carry some of your gear, seeing how it follows you everywhere 😂😂. But the Kea was an amazing encounter - they really look like the ground should shake Jurassic Park style when they hop.
@@atalefromatrail8181 - you of all people should understand the Kea's desire to go for a bit of tramping ... 😂. Sadly we have never (yet) made it to NZ. That damn lottery win just isn't forthcoming. We were seriously considering attempting the TA one if these years, but so far the closest we got is to read a very interesting hiker book of that trail, written by some German girl 😉
@@liverpoolhikers hahaha...oh dear...a german writing a book in english.... well I guess the microgreens have domesticated you as well. You would need a microplant-sitter while away
Haha. The orc factories are up around Ruapehu National Park, I think 😲 Those Volcano-Orc factories could soon be burping...hahaha. currently on the West Coast of NZ and nature was very lucky here. Its damp, its rough, its still raw. Humans could only tame it to certain point...now its a National Park and the modern Orcs can't chop down the bush anymore 😏
Spectacular, thank you for sharing
