Looks like a lovely track, considering its a bike track. When my kids were younger, we were on a South Island road trip, when we past a farmers field and there was a large tarp over some hay with car tyres, weighing it down, I told them it was a Weka nest, and the Weka's steal car tyres and take them to their nests. When we parked at the start of the Routeburn track, some Weka's were wondering around us and the car. The kids were terrified the Weka's would steal our car tyres! It took my son until he was 13 to realise it was bullish..t
I think this looks a great track, and one I'd have really enjoyed pre knee and back injury days! Tramp towards the cyclists seems a good idea and I don't know why more people don't do this. Thanks for giving us time to read the info boards. The book about the development of the track is really interesting too in case you haven't read it. Loved the cheeky and bad birds too. Delightful video thanks.
Its a really cool track. And yes, definitely would walk towards the cyclists. On the downhills some pick up serious speed. At least you see them coming. Yes the book about the development was in every hut. Such an inspiration to see what people can dream of and then create.
That Boneyard made me very nervous as I looked up the hill to all those truck and house-sized boulders precariously perched above. Maybe you have had your fill with sharing huts with cyclist strangers. Socialisation in a hurry. From now on there should be fewer people around. Love these videos.
Long time no hear.
Gruss Marc
What a double act! Renee has the singing voice and you have the comedy skills. I see Las Vegas in your future!
I will send Rene. He loves the glitter and fame ☆☆☆
