Hi, thanks for the update. I'm Joseph from Nigeria. Also an aspirant, I was thinking of applying for GKS-G 2023 but no enough info. Expecially on the legalization of documents. This is the first GKS channel by a Nigerian. Thanks a lot for this.
Btw, I contacted the embassy so as to get my documents confirmed by the consulate but I was told it's a must I come with a copy of my passport meanwhile it's not a requirement for GKS application, please can shed more light on this with respect to how went about yours.

You need a passport for authentication at the Korean embassy. You can send a family member that has the same last name as you usually. But I don’t know if they might have changed their policy in the time since I went there

Also, I don’t have an original copy of my birth certificate just photocopies. Can I use an affidavit instead with the photocopies?
I honestly don’t know because ministry of education and foreign affairs might not agree to authenticate photocopies without seeing the original

Hello, you do need an affidavit from a high court to legalise but I don’t think you need to certify it

Must you know a bit of Korean before applying
It’s not compulsory, but it could be an advantage. But people have gotten in with zero knowledge of Korean

I don't think letter of recommendation is required for undergraduate. This video is for graduates.

One coloured copy should be authenticated by all three places so you can use it as your original

one more thing? did u do any notarize authentication on any documents? i did this way: notarized-justice-foreign affairs- translation

Hello please what if you are offering diploma now can u send transcripts of your results and please what if you don’t have waec certificate but you have transcripts of high school results and testimonials or high school certificates
The WAEC certificate is a supplementary document. Although I think you’ll need the certificate to authenticate at the ministry of education.

I did a couple of online tests and also mentioned in my essays that English is my first language

I think it’s mostly closed now for graduate applications. You can try again next year

Hii this is probably a silly question but I am confused.
According to the official application guidelines, or the first round you submit 1 copy of everything to your country's Korean embassy, then it says you submit one original copy and 3 photocopys of everything to NIIED. But for GKS-G, it says the result for round 1 is only announced March 22 but also says your round 2 documents will make it to NIIED by April 1st at the latest. Of course, this would not be enough time for some countries' documents to arrive in Korea.
I am confused, for the first round do we submit 1 original + 3 photocopies to the embassy, and then if we are selected they will send it to NIIED themselves? By the way you explained the copies here that's what it sounds like to me but I'm not sure.
I’m from Nigeria and I would like to ask one question about WAEC result. Is it compulsory for someone to have A’s before having the chance of being selected cause I heard that the embassy also put into consideration the academic performance of the student applying

It’s not compulsory to submit waec, you submit it as an extra certificate. But of course since it’s an academic scholarship they’ll take your academic performance seriously.
But my high school issued my transcript in black and white, will I change it to coloured

If I do the university track can I chose the type A
The TOEFL test is not compulsory but it can give u additional score, and if u feel that u don't have enough time to submit ur documents cos of the delay I the TOEFL result , u can just submit ur documents without it and u can apply to any university. Either type A or type B , but u must choose one university between Type A or type B

Maybe try to make him get his NIN. It’s pretty easy, and make sure his name on the NIN matches that on your birth certificate

Your WAEC and NECO are only needed as extra certificates. I think the price is 300 per document at MOE, 300 per page at MOFA and about $4 per document at the Korean embassy. I processed my documents over a year ago so the rates might have changed

It should be translated definitely. Anything that’s not in English or Korean should be translated

It’s not compulsory to speak Korean, it’s just an advantage to show interest. And about your partner (I’m assuming a spouse), they’re not included in the scholarship so it doesn’t really matter
