Thank you so much for posting this, we need more videos like this especially of black women and HAITIAN women (I’m Haitian too) and their journey to becoming a veterinarian. I’m rooting and wishing you a successful journey! 💕
I agree, representation is so important!! Thank you for your support, I appreciate it 🥹🫶🏾
It was indeed refreshing to see a woman of color in the same field doing her thang ! I’m a veggie too! 😊
Thank you 😊 Yes, we definitely need more of that!!
As a pre-vet student myself, this video is everything!!! thank you so much, looking forward to more videos. A VEG just opened right by my house, I'm trying to do shadowing there!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed this video ☺️ Definitely more to come! I hope you get a chance to get shadowing experience, good luck!!
Laura! So happy I came across your channel! I am currently a vet student at the WCVM in Canada, just finished my 1st year! Also a non-traditional student, and actually was an ICU nurse before going to vet school. Can totally relate to your journey and wish you the best of luck on getting into vet school! 😊
I’ve started a channel to document my journey through vet school as well if you’re interested.
Hi Chantal!! I’ve actually been following your channel for a few months now, as I was looking to see what the vet school experience is like. I found your story to be so unique and inspiring. Thank you so much 😊 Wishing you the best of luck on your remaining years in vet school!

Oh wow!! Good luck, I hope you have great experience 🫶🏾
How were you able to get your job at VEG?
I just applied on their website!
is your hospital open 24hrs? I love this video so much :) I’m thinking of becoming a vet tech. I’ve been in the medical field for like 8 years now, i work at the ER as patient registration. it’s OK i don’t really have issues with my role ,it’s tough like any other job out there , i earn a great living out of it . However I’ve always loved animals and see myself providing care to them long term. I’m hoping to start school this fall or if not by early January next year 😊 I think right now i want to volunteer at a shelter so i can gain some experience and see how it is daily
Thank you so much for the love ♥️ Yes, we are open 24 hours. I think volunteering at a shelter is a great start so you can get an idea of what it feels like to work in the vet field. Good luck in vet tech school!!
I like this job ❤
So do I 😊
@@laurasydd In the coming years, I will become a student in the College of Veterinary Medicine because that is my dream
Congratulations 🥳 I wish you the best of luck!!
@@laurasydd thank you very much 🌺🌺❤
Hey Laura! I’m looking into transitioning from GP to ER. I’ve been a vet assistant for 3 years and planning to become a veterinarian as well! Any tips? Also love to see content from individuals like us in the field 💕
Hi Bri! Any tips for transitioning from GP to ER, I would say is to be prepared for much longer shifts, faster pace, and busy/chaotic days. But if you have a love for it, you’ll be just fine! Good luck on your journey to becoming a Vet and thank you for watching 😊
i just found your channel during my research on focusing on becoming a vet, i currently major in psychology. i’m still a undergrad, so still in prereqs, i jus wanted to know what major is best to do while doing pre-vet curriculum
Hi, technically, you can major in anything so long as you complete your prerequisites. But it might be easier to complete all your prerequisites if you’re in a science related major. Since most of the prerequisites consist of biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, etc. Hope that was helpful!
hi! im currently in veternary technician school now and was wondering what your pay was? i know it varies by state but I wanted a general realistic number!
I believe for emergency specifically (at my hospital), vet tech with no background education start off at $25. But with background education, I think it’s much higher. Not sure of the exact number. Hope that was helpful!
I wish that as an international student, being pre-vet was this easy.
I want to be a vet when im older but im a bit nervous. Is the smell of animals and their fecies something to be worried about or can i adapt to it?
I don’t think it’s anything to be too concerned about. I do think that with time and experience, it is something that you adapt to!
@@laurasydd okay thank youu ! 😄
Do you think an ER place would be good for an internship? Or maybe more of a office setting?
I think it all depends on what you’re looking for. ER is very fast paced and can be chaotic at time but I think you can get great exposure there! Whereas general practice is a slower pace and very routine.
Do you work 3 12hr shifts?
Typically yess
What qualifications did u need?
Just some past experience as vet assistant.
Hii! Do you think it's possible to be a vet tech and a nurse at the same time?? I am interested in nursing because of the job prospects but I also have a passion for animal care and working at a zoo part-time once I'm a nurse. Do you think it would be achievable? Also, I'm wishing you best on your journey to being a vet!!☺
Thank you so much!! I am a big believer that anything is possible. So if that is something you are interested in then I definitely think it’s feasible. Both fields are very taxing, so although it may not be easy I’m sure it’s possible!
Please post more iloveyour video
