I am a sparky and I use a thing called dri-splice kit. it's a 2 part housing filled with antioxidant silicone and it comes with 2 size of copper crimped heads.

I would like to know what LED lights you recommend. How to put the wire underground. I enjoyed your video on wire. Connection. Thank you, Ed

I believe the design for BVS2 connector is to have the to/from wires be a solid wire (unlike most low-voltage stranded wire). It appears this is no issue in using them though? Also, want to make sure they will work for the heavier gauge (such as 12 gauge) low voltage wiring... just want to make sure will fit inside the holes before I purchase these... Thanks!!!

Yes they are designed for 12 to 18 Gauge wire

I would agree with all of these connections except the gel filled wire nuts 2:30 I found they just don't last they come apart very easily. Tape does help but wouldn't be my first choice I see company's that use these with no tape, if that wire is exposed and someone trips over it they are going to pull right out And if the wire is exposed they didn't bury it well enough

THanks, I completely agree. I would never use these without tape and we always use a very healthy dose of extra tape when we have to use them. Out of the 4 choices I recommended I would agree that these would be the last of the 4 choices. Thanks for your comment.

What are your thoughts on Scotchlok Moisture Guard Connectors? Thanks!

I like them! we use them from time to time also. They have that mechanical connection to help keep the wires in place and are gel filled to keep the elements out. My only suggestion from experience would still be to tape them up with the wires with electrical tape as I have seen them pull apart from time to time.

*Thank you so much!* I got a 100 count 'jug' for $60 at Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FUF3SL8/ The BVS-2 on Amazon had 1-2 months shipping!

The connector is on my Hampton bay low voltage led well light Its just figuring out how to put the wire correctly inside--you press together until seated and locked around the cable. Wish I could find video of putting that together

Just as a caution that many of the piercing wire connectors like the ones you are talking about have a tendency to break down and corrode the wire over a couple of years. Here is a video with more preffered methods. ua-cam.com/video/U7tbvnCtF-E/v-deo.html

Hey Doc, I am a DIY homeowner and a rental property owner. Came across your channel a month or so ago and subbed you because of your willingness to be forth coming with advice. I have installed the big box LED fixtures they sell from a major manufacturer named after a city in california at both locations and am satisfied with the price to performance ratio. Would love to use your high end products but truthfully I need to consider the possibility of them being stolen. Said to say but that is a reality. The main problem is of course is with the connections. I wanted to get your thoughts of my idea of improving the connection. Haven't seen this idea anywhere before. I just use quality wire nuts, twist the wiring firmly and fill the nut with quality waterproof silicon with a caulking gun frame. Did them all over last year and so far no problems. Have you heard or did this before. Your thoughts? Thank you.

+Gene Cundel thanks for the comments and honesty. Haven't heard of your idea for connections yet but sounds like it should work great. One reccomendation would still be to tape the wires off at each connection to keep them from pulling apart. Thanks again for the questions!!!
