I am always amazed how they are abled to get such few lines not only to make a face, but to make it recognizable to a special human beeing...and even leaving out the nose. Really cool.
Ive read the title, and after having built mine recently I couldn't agree more about that sticker. I misapplied it ever so slightly on the first attempt, and peeling it off slightly has left a massive blemish running down the entire length :/
I agree with your point about Indy's head. I think they should have used Han Solo's head and added stubble. The head they designed for Solo captures Ford's likeness perfectly.
The classic Indy head with the smirk was pretty darn close already, all they had to do was take that and add a little extra detail like the Han Solo head
That windshield sticker was extremely stressful. I put off doing it for a whole day. If you guys want some tips, the sticker is square as far as I could tell, so you don't have to worry about that. For placement, do NOT align it against the sides at each end of the curve, the sticker doesn't reach all the way there (as you can see in the video). I used the top studs and the bottom antistud slots to line up the bars, and aligned the sticker against the front since there's no little divot up there like at the bottom. Then I slowly pressed it down from the center down to the sides. Be really careful applying it, because any major fingerprints or misplacements aren't likely to go away.
I loved the little details like the Grail Diary (even though Elsa had it at this point of the movie) and the Umbrella Henry Sr. uses to shoo the Seagulls into downing the other plane.
I'm so excited for Lego Indiana Jones to be back. I missed out on all the 2008 sets and I'm not making that mistake now. I do have problems with this set but overall I like it. I do think the new Indy has too much of a baby face. The old face under the new hat+hair looks better IMO
One has to wonder what the heck was the pilot thinking when he crashed into that tunnel chasing the car with the Jones' in it! Still, a pretty cool set, the plane is very nice and so is the car.
Great review as usual. That plane canopy sticker is a real pain & doesn't look great. Dr. Jones Sr minifig is spot on, but Indy's face only has a passing resemblance to Harrison Ford. I also think that the hat/hair combo is a bit too chunky. Overall, this is a great set
The new hat hair mold reminds me more of the “Indiana Jones” character that we see that the beginning of last crusade character that gives Indy his hat
I'll be honest, I want this for the car. I love it when LEGO makes older cars. I got the original Shangai Chase "Temple Of Doom" set because it had TWO old cars in it!
@@RRSlugger I used a small scissor for the outer lines and Swiss army knife for the middle square, but the X-acto or small box cutter for the middle square would work too. With a ruler of course.
The new Indy hat/hair mold just seems cursed to me, from a nostalgia point of view. The original run of the LEGO Indiana Jones sets was iconic to me, and idk why but them changing the hat is just like... perverse to me. it doesnt seem right!!
Great set, and one to get for sure. Though watching the older sets, and even knowing that it would considerably raise the price, it would have been nice to have a chance to get the biplane too.
Forget the sticker for the canopy. Get a light grey tape, a good cutter and cut yourself some straight strips to apply on the canopy. It'll be much easier to do and you can try as often as you have to
the indiana jones minifig doesnt look bad, however, it does almost kinda look like the guy from the beginning of the movie who ends up giving indy the hat
Unfortunately I definitely have to agree with Indy`s hair/combo, something about it just seems a bit off. I think the height of the hat more than anything is the biggest problem, but the overall piece just feels oversized.
The plane in the movie isn't actually a fighter or a ground attack aircraft. It is mostly likely meant to represent the Arado Ar-96 which was training aircraft for Luftwaffe pilots. The actual plane in the movie was post-war Swiss design but it shares similar characteristics to the Ar-96 as the companies designers decided to leave for greener pastures after the war (The Allies weren't going to let Germany build airplanes for obvious reasons). The car from the movie was also real Citroen but it was an anachronistic 1954 Citroën 11 Légère Cabriolet My only wish for the set itself. I only wish it also had the Biplane too.
Indy's hat and face don't look very good (hat's blockiness makes it look too large), but the rest looks very good in the video. Plane especially, looks much nicer than the old one. I hope they go back to the old cowboy hat or come up with better one though, I'm not a big fan of "detail over proportion" approach that I see in some of the recent moulds that are inconsistent with the general proportions we've had for minifig/minifig fashion pieces. Looking forward to seeing more Inidana Jones set reviews! (Would love to see you cover the old Indiana Jones sets one day!)
Clear backed stickers are the bane of my existence, no matter what i do they almost always bubble up even if I press it down as much as possible. Still a nice set though! Also, thanks for including Canadian prices!
I dod a test yesterday of how to upgrade the og Indy figure (and subsequently the new one) and I switched out the og nug Indy came with in 2008 and used the dark grey nug that came in some of the lone ranger sets in 2013. I also like to use the Dastan head from the Prince of Persia sets and I plan to take the 08 Indy hips with the modern legs so the belt and holster are accurate since the web belt indy wears is brown and not black. Unlike the 2023 sets that gave him a black belt for some reason
Oh man when I saw this set first, I thought the canopy would be a print. I think using a sticker for that is really pushing it. Otherwise, well designed set in my opinion, I like the angle the wings are at. And I don't really mind Indy's face too much.
Seems like a great set, too bad for that sticker, but still a good set. Thankfully I learned how to apply stickers properly from your videos, so I'm confident I can pull it off decently.
To support what you said about kid play value: my kid is too young for the whole movie but LOVES this set. Really fun play features and very sturdy (with the exception of the Sean Connery hat which falls off if you barely touch it)
I bought this set mostly for the car - i love the 8-stud scale. I havent applied the huge canopy sticker and never will, because of both its size and the transparency makes it extremely diffucult to look good. A different solution is one i found back in the old days with plastic modeling kits: use strips of colored tape for the lines instead of this horrible monster of a sticker.
Does anyone else think there's something "raw" about the box art renderings? In person the model looks fine, but I can't help but get an almost off-brand feel about the look of it. I don't know if it's just me or they had some issues with the lighting or something else, but it's interesting seeing the different design standards lego holds across it's themes. 😅 It'd be cool to see a designer video for this wave of sets. I don't know if they still do those but I'd love to hear about the making of these.
Thank you Jang for this great reviuw of this set. And also, again, thank you for all your time, energy and time you put your videos for us. You are a gero in his own clas. 🙂
I want this one but that’s it for the Indiana Jones sets that I’ll get, I’m gutted that I missed the original sets but this will be the one that gives me enough nostalgia to feel happy about.
Just subscribed to this channel too after seeing your video on your other channel. For every “hater” out there that unsubscribes, I hope there are 10x the people like myself who subscribe to all of your channels! We love you Jang!
idk I'm just comparing these figures to the ones I got way back when and I feel like the graphic style hasn't changed for the better. also like the idea of the hair/hat but the shape of the original hat looks way better to me. but it's good to see Indy back. Indy largely got me into Lego in the first place.
Yes I agree with the sticker, overall it is an amazing set, but the cockpit sticker is so annoying, I got mine crooked on the first try, then when I put it back on, the sticker glue showed and the sticker looked quite missing 😂 also there is a big gap.
I'm done with stickers tbh. I noticed last year that many on my ninjago city set (that I built 2019) are starting to fall of, although I literally just had it on display, never touched them or anything. Lots of sets look also really good without them and most of the time the colours dont match with the ones for the bricks. It makes building way more enjoyable imo.
They could've thrown in a couple of seagulls.
“This guy over here on the far-right.”
I see what you did there Jang.
I cant believe in 2023 Lego still doesnt print some cockpit pieces
I am always amazed how they are abled to get such few lines not only to make a face, but to make it recognizable to a special human beeing...and even leaving out the nose.
Really cool.
Ive read the title, and after having built mine recently I couldn't agree more about that sticker. I misapplied it ever so slightly on the first attempt, and peeling it off slightly has left a massive blemish running down the entire length :/
I removed the sticker and just cut around the lines and put it on my spare piece. It worked great.
I did that with the nose sticker of the blacktron cruiser. Still angers me every time I look at it 😂
Next time use the soapy water/window cleaner method. It takes longer but is worth it.
Just call the Lego hotline, tell them your problem and they will send you a new window+sticker. Of course for free 😉
I would honestly just not put the sticker on. I bet it would look better that way too.
I agree with your point about Indy's head. I think they should have used Han Solo's head and added stubble. The head they designed for Solo captures Ford's likeness perfectly.
The hair spoils the likeness. It looks like the mock up photos you see every so often of how Indy would have looked if Tom Selleck had played him.
The Indy figure with the new hat/hair piece looks more like the guy he got the hat from in the opening scene.
Omg, now I cant unsee it, XD
Please get out of my brain... that is privat prooerty. 😄 Had exacly the same though but could not remember his name. Whaha.
Love the updated Johnny Thunder and Dr Kilroy figures!
6:43 - "This guy over here on the far right" - I see what you did there haha
I loved the little details like the Grail Diary (even though Elsa had it at this point of the movie) and the Umbrella Henry Sr. uses to shoo the Seagulls into downing the other plane.
This scene takes place after they go to Berlin to retrieve the diary, so they actually are in possession of it at this point
I suddenly remembered my Charlemagne. 'Let my armies be the rocks and the trees and the birds in the sky'.
No at this point in the movie Indy and Henry Sr. have escaped from Berlin WITH the Grail Diary after taking it back from Elsa.
"this guy over here on the far right"
*points at the totally not a WW2 German Fighter Pilot*
I'm so excited for Lego Indiana Jones to be back. I missed out on all the 2008 sets and I'm not making that mistake now. I do have problems with this set but overall I like it. I do think the new Indy has too much of a baby face. The old face under the new hat+hair looks better IMO
I think this set is really good value. If it was a star wars license they probably would have put a $60 price tag on it :-/
The designers really did honor the legacy of Sean Connery.
A case study in why they usually print cockpit pieces, and should keep doing so.

His name is Fedora
his name was Garth
I thought so too. Coupled with the smirking Indy face, it looks more like that graverobber.
Nope, the fighter pilot is unrelated in any way to historical events that occurred in real life.
Do you think it is possible (with the windex method) to place the sticker on the inside? Then there might be less of a gap.
Probably, but it'd be harder to apply
this is actually a pretty clever idea
Possibly, but the inside of the print is white, not dark gray, so it wouldn't look all that great
But the color would be off. The back side of the lines has different color.
Jang calling out the cultish LEGO fans make me very happy. 😁
Thank you for doing research in the actual plane, appriciate that as a person that likes proper identification
I really wish they printed that canopy
All of the other stickers are fine
I'll be honest, I want this for the car. I love it when LEGO makes older cars.
I got the original Shangai Chase "Temple Of Doom" set because it had TWO old cars in it!
Love how neatly the chest and suitcase fit in the care.
i just cut out the see through parts and the lines still stuck on great. It looks amazing!
Did you use scissors or an X-Acto knife to do that? I might try your approach if I get this set! 😊
@@RRSlugger I just used scissors but a knife would probably be a lot better
@@RRSlugger I used a small scissor for the outer lines and Swiss army knife for the middle square, but the X-acto or small box cutter for the middle square would work too. With a ruler of course.
As the most affordable and best looking of the new Indy sets I might get this, but I can't imagine keeping the plane assembled.
"Well, they don't come any closer than that!"
Great review! Even reviewing the image on the box 😄
The new Indy hat/hair mold just seems cursed to me, from a nostalgia point of view. The original run of the LEGO Indiana Jones sets was iconic to me, and idk why but them changing the hat is just like... perverse to me. it doesnt seem right!!

They need a temple of doom set with Short Round and Willie.
"this dude on the FAR RIGHT" LOL
the indiana jones minifig doesnt look bad, however, it does almost kinda look like the guy from the beginning of the movie who ends up giving indy the hat
“Like han solo” oh jang that was cold 😂
Unfortunately I definitely have to agree with Indy`s hair/combo, something about it just seems a bit off. I think the height of the hat more than anything is the biggest problem, but the overall piece just feels oversized.
The fighter pilot uniform is spot on german uniform. I am amazed they made it that accurate-considering.
5:53 Ok, this made me laugh.
6:43 "This guy over here on the far right..." Freudian slip Jang... ;)
I don't understand why they didn't put actual door pieces on the car.
They definitely got Ford's smirk right.
Totally agree with the comments on Indy - it's closer than the old one but not quite there...
I see, the unaffiliated guy from the *far right*. I see. :D
The plane in the movie isn't actually a fighter or a ground attack aircraft. It is mostly likely meant to represent the Arado Ar-96 which was training aircraft for Luftwaffe pilots. AR 96 didn't have twin 20mm cannons. Chances this was supposed to represent a trainer in-universe have to be near zero.
"This guy over here on the, on the far right..."
I got two Indians Jones hats! That was a nice surprise.
Lucky! That also happened to my friend with the Lost Tomb set. I wasn't as fortunate :(
I hate how flat the beard look on henry jones sr tbh
Indy's hat and face don't look very good (hat's blockiness makes it look too large), but the rest looks very good in the video. Plane especially, looks much nicer than the old one.

The car also reminded me of Adventures! Which of course was inspired certainly by Indiana Jones...
The historical accuracy of the pilots torso is incredible
I can just imagine some kid during play using the fighter plane as a "good guy" against some other thing.
Clear backed stickers are the bane of my existence, no matter what i do they almost always bubble up even if I press it down as much as possible. Still a nice set though! Also, thanks for including Canadian prices!
This was actually the set I wanted most from the wave, but that sticker was an absolute killer. I aligned it pretty well but it's splotchy.
Just build the temple set myself, can't wait for the review
Lego just casually makes a Axis ww2 fighter
I can see some one buying multiples of this set to use the planes for a ww2 moc
"this guy over here on the far right" made me chuckle

"this guy on the far right" absolute gold
Nostolgic, i had a few sets from the old series
I had to order a replacement sticker sheet because I screwed up the cockpit one
Oh man when I saw this set first, I thought the canopy would be a print. I think using a sticker for that is really pushing it. Otherwise, well designed set in my opinion, I like the angle the wings are at. And I don't really mind Indy's face too much.
I adore the new Indy fig for the most part but the face could definitely use a bit more harrison fordification

wow... the cockpit glass looks awful. What the heck.
I got this set recently and I'm probably going to mod the plane. Putting a cone piece for the nose of the propeller and put some guns on the top.
You are the first UA-camr I’ve seen mention the plane being a Pilatus P-2
Thank you Jang for this great reviuw of this set. And also, again, thank you for all your time, energy and time you put your videos for us. You are a gero in his own clas. 🙂
Been watching you for years Jang !! Keep up the amazing work
Remind me of LEGO System. Pure LEGO at its heart with excellent value and play features.
‘On the far right’
Bought this already here in Australia for $45. Not looking forward to putting that sticker on though.😀👍
I recommend you cut the sticker around the strips
I want this one but that’s it for the Indiana Jones sets that I’ll get, I’m gutted that I missed the original sets but this will be the one that gives me enough nostalgia to feel happy about.
I’ve been waiting to watch this review until Jang posted it. Let’s see how it goes!
I would have paid an extra $5 to get the minifig of the guy and his tools on the side of the road that they stole the car from.
I just got this for my birthday!
Can we just say this is an example of why there is no reason we can't have a speed champions version of aircraft.
Thanks for showing this, Jang. I like this set and could be used outside the Indiana Jones setting
Just subscribed to this channel too after seeing your video on your other channel. For every “hater” out there that unsubscribes, I hope there are 10x the people like myself who subscribe to all of your channels! We love you Jang!

Ha! Nice.
I honestly wouldn't mind paying an extra $5 for a printed canopy

Stickers on canopies? Did it ever happened before?
I wish they make couple more sets with soldiers in them cuz i did not got to have the soldiers
Thanks for sharing-I just got the Pharaoh's Quest plane in a used Lego lot, so this really interested me! Looks like a nice kit for the price!
I really like the plane its way better than how I try to build one all by myself, maybe i might get this set

I love that Lego re-introduced Indiana jones.
The Indy minifig head looks like the guy in the beginning of the film who young Indiana Jones based his look on.
Kinda makes the osprey’s cancellation funny when you see them making WW2 military vehicles.
“This guy over here on the far right” has 2 meanings 😂
