      sounds great. You ever thought of getting a Heli PR 40 Mic for the cab? If you mix that with the DI from the demeter it would sound gooooood

      @@josephsummers9116 no, I haven’t. I should try that. I don’t have a Demeter but the B7K is a pretty tasty pre-amp like box- can run direct from there. That’s what’s on all my video covers anyway.

    IMO still the only guy who absolutely nails the tone pretty spot on! Never get tired of new content here even after like 15 years! Can’t wait for the new Pedalboard video! \m/

      Thank you! To be fair, I have a mk2 Wal Bass and a GK2001 RB. That’s 95% of his tone. The only thing I like now compared to my older videos is I can emulate his dirty sound with my Darkglass BK7 ultra pedal where I blend in the grit. Sounds pretty much like his live tone. 😀🙏🏻

    I went to see them live for the first time a few weeks ago and it was my first time seeing a big band live. When they did a sound check and it wasn’t even Justin Chancellor playing, I already got chills from listening to the amazing bass effects, this video reminds me of that amazing eargasmic sound check

    Hey! I used to watch your videos all the time back around 2008. You had a pedal board setup and explanation video that I really liked to watch, the part where you would demo the fuzz wah was always so cool. Your channel just randomly came up today and I instantly recognized your voice! It's awesome to see you're still here making videos about Tool, I was lucky to see them with my Dad in 2012 at the Rivers Edge Music Fest!

      Thank you. With all due respect, though. Justin Chancellor created these riffs and sounds, not me. Therefore all credit goes to him and zero to me. I just feel blessed that I found a way to recreate his sound by being able to acquire the gear. Therefore, I believe I should get zero credit 🙏🏻😀

      @@TOOLbassplayer a good buddy of mine recommended a Boss Katana amp that I've been trying to tame ever since I bought it a few weeks ago. Love the damn thing so much - worlds away from the purely clean sound of the bass amp I'd been playing Tool on for years w/ my Les Paul (just wish there were foot switches to make the effects more manageable,) and realized I had put off one of those things you contemplate for years over whether or not you should actually buy it, and then once you have it wonder why it took you so long to get it in the first place.

      It’s a Sansamp GT2 distortion pedal and I’m using the digitech bass whammy to pitch shift up 1 octave and back. That is what Justin Chancellor does in my songs- especially Third Eye.

    TOOLbassplayrer any recommendations for a good live Chancellor tone (signal chain and settings)using a single Gallien Krueger 1001RB and a 4x12 cabinet for a live tone not recording . I also have a Turbo Rat, Boss eq, Boss delay, Boss flanger, Boss chorus, Boss line selector, Darkglass B7K, Gallien Krueger Diesel Dawg, or do I need to have the dual amp setup? Thx for your time and help I really appreciate it. Have an awesome day

    • @TOOLbassplayer
      @TOOLbassplayer  Рік тому +1

      Honestly- I wish I had the 1001RB as the 2001 is total overkill. The 1001RB + 412 should be great. I find the 4x10 has more punch though…remember the 4x12 is only for his dirty signal. I don’t have a dual amp setup. I just use the DG B7K to do the blend. I had a few friends over the other day and played pneuma for them live with the amp cranked. They almost shit themselves it was so loud. I feel it sounds almost exactly like his live tone so I think you are good. BTW- not telling you to trade 4x12 for 4x10- either is great just the 4x10 is a little punchier. Hope this helps, sir.

    Honest question how loud is that? And have you ever gotten a noise complaint?

    • @TOOLbassplayer
      @TOOLbassplayer  2 роки тому

      Ummm it’s decently loud. My wife says it’s not that loud outside the house. When we finished this room I made sure it had the thickest possible insulation and the thickest most sound proof drywall.
      But this amp is LOUD. The volume here is barely close to 1 (scale of 1-10). What sucks is amps sound better when loud and this amp is total overkill. 🤣

    • @TOOLbassplayer
      @TOOLbassplayer  2 роки тому

      I bought a Mk1 about 19 years ago on eBay for like $1700. I then traded it to a good friend of mine who had 3 Wals. He traded me my American Walnut Mk1 for this Maple Mk2 + $1000. So I basically got this for $2700. They now probably cost closer to $10k with now over a 4 year wait! They’re not even taking new orders anymore which is crazy! 😳
      Either way- this one was built by the master luthier Pete Stevens (RIP) and the new ones are built by his apprentice, Paul. 😀
