Yeah, it's difficult to remember when to play the variations. You play it to a backing track, you miss it and you immediately go "fuck, man!" and start over.
This cover was absolutely phenomenal dude. Your original was already great but you can see you've gotten even better in this one. Also at 10:40, it's okay Justin did the same exact thing in one of the live videos of this song LOL
I can see slight disappointment in your face after seemingly the only tiny little mistake you made in the entire song at the outro 🤣 amazing cover. Man so many parts to remember. Always love coming back to these videos to see just how much of an amazing bassist JC is.
I watched this video a year ago and it inspired me to learn it. Today marks the day I can finally play it all the way through. Enough cannot be said of how much repetition and discipline it takes to learn all those parts. Good job man! (your tone made me pee a little)
@@AlteredPhotons wow! Thank you for sharing! Yes these songs are very challenging to pull off and I’ve been doing it for 23 years! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 well done and congratulations!
@gordykeefers - ha! I always record audio first and then video. I played the song pretty well and I screwed up at the very end- lol- lost concentration and no way was I going to go back and do it all over again. Heck with that! This was take 1! 😀😀🤓🤓🤣🤣
Dude im so mesmerized by this would you ever be interested in doing breakdowns for these i dont think you could actually fathom how cool that shit would be man i mean im at this point willing to offer some hefty buckaroos to see you analzye this song im a little wasted but let me tell ya man i saw you uploaded 2 videos in a day its the season of giving and im tryna give myself a chance of seeing you break this down homie alright merry christmad dude

stack up the bread and keep your eyes open. They consistently pop up pretty much every month, if not more than that. There's a couple for sale now if you have the dough.
Hello young man. I promise this answer is not in any way facetious. You have to practice. It’s as simple as that. The timing of this part of the song is tricky. When I first started playing bass (especially Tool) I just practiced and practiced until I got the rhythm, tempo down. Eventually you will get it. This is not an easy song to play at all. As a beginner I would start with songs like Stinkfist which to me, has an easier groove with some pretty cool parts but not too tricky. Appreciate the question and let me know how else I can help! 🙏🏻
Im going to have to go to rehab for addiction to that tone
If I could like this again, I would 😂
alrighty then, picture this if you will
All those variations and strange rhythms make this song really challenging to master, in my opinion at least... And you did mastered it!
@Kanikacyst - thank you for the kind words!!!

Killed it man, every nuance, every effect, every accent that makes it right. Well done....bad ass song too
Super good! I absolutely love the bass from Rosetta Stoned! Great cover. Justin is incredible.

Incredibly well played mate, and that bass tone is just thunderous wow

@@AlteredPhotons are you really asking that? Look at most of my other videos. 😀🤣
My favorite song. Keep it going man
Tool kicks ass and you do justice to Justin’s riffs 🤘🤘
cosplay on point
EDIT: i’m glad the auto wah sounds like it does, cuz i’ve seen covers where the auto wah just makes me giggle
@c.a.t.wes - that’s because I’m using the Guyatone BR-2 that Justin uses on the recording. 😀
TOOLbassplayer oh, you didn’t use the MXR? i know the BR-2 is pretty intense, but i wasn’t expecting it to sound like that
@c.a.t.wes - nope. I used the MXR on the stinkfist live extended that I just posted.
TOOLbassplayer ok cool, thank you for the responses!
What an awesome cover! Also nice hair 👍
Someone is absolutely on fire recently :D

Going off bro
Jeezus, those rythms... No wonder I’m in love with their music... Great work as always! What’s your sound stack (amps, effects) these days?
Nicely played!!!
I wish Justin wasnt so buried in the mix. His playing is so fucking good. Great cover
good tone, nice feel. a lot of (the more-viewed) covers always seem so stiff, good job with grooving with it!
Thank you!
