Hi Sean. I have been given a Gizzu. I have a Rain Tower and would like to know how to connect the Rain Tower. On the back of the Rain Tower there are two ports. One is marked MAIN and the other DIV. Which one should be connected to the Gizzu? Please let me know. Thank you.
Thank you ..followed instructions..hopefully works out.
Awesome. Let me know how it goes. If it works correctly, it’s an absolute game changer for keeping internet online doing loadshedding.
Hello Sean!
Tell me, is this UPS only exclusive for Fibre routers? Because there are some routers that are not for Fibre because of the location doesn't support that.
Hi, you can use this product to power any devices that use 6, 9 or 12 Volts. So, no, it’s not exclusively for fibre routers. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the video!! Excited to have Wi-Fi during loadshedding now🥳
Hey Simone, thanks for the comment. Enjoy the new setup when you get it. It makes a huge difference. 👍
If my Fibre box only requires 12v 0.5amps, and this ups supplies 3Amps. Will this blow my fibre box or am I fine?
is there any VIDEO on how to set it up? I cannot believe that it does not come with any instructions?
Hi Sean. Thank you for the informative video. I bought the Gizzu 60W 65wh ups, but it does not power my Mikrotik Audience Wifi router. The router requires a 12V to 57V power supply. Is the power supply too large for the ups do you think?
Hey Jaimie, thanks for your comment. I'm sorry to hear this. I'm thinking your router might need more power. I'm not sure what "12V to 57V power supply" means. Does it need 12V or 57V?
They make a 60W version with double the battery capacity. I figure after time the lower capacity won't keep as much charge so perhaps the bigger capacity unit will have a longer life span.
Hey Francois, thanks for sharing that.
will this work for a12volt cordless mic?
hi sean. I just got one of these. How long does it take to fully charge? its been plugged in for a while now and the green light has been flashing on 25% non stop
That sounds a bit strange. Perhaps let it de-charge and then charge again. But sounds like you might need to return it. Sounds like it could be faulty. Haven’t had that issue with mine.
I have the same issue
@@sarfi1012 I had to return for a new one as there was a technical defect. Hope this helps
@@somethingsweet5859 returning my unit as well! Thank you
Hi Sean, I am hoping you can help me with a question regarding the UPS. I have it plugged in at all times but even though it is plugged in (and there is no loadshedding) the UPS will sometimes not charge. I have to unplug it from the socket and plug it back in again for it to start charging. Do you know a reason why this could be happening?
No, that does not sound right. I would double check your power socket (in the wall) or return the product in case the Gizzu is faulty. Mine has worked flawlessly ever since I purchased it.
How can I get this device. In Saudi Arabia. Thanks
Not sure if it’s being sold in Saudi Arabia. I guess you could buy it online from a retailer and use Aramex Global Shopper program to have it redirected to your location.
Thanks Sean ! Insightful!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commeting.
Does the Gizzu have to plug into an ONT box? Or can it just be plugged from the wall into the router? Asking for people who live in Fibre ready apartments who don't have ONT boxes in the apartment
Hi, the Gizzu can serve as a power source for both your router and/or your ONT box. It essentially serves as an external battery that is permanently plugged into the wall socked and can keep 6, 9 or 12 Volt devices powered from its internal battery. Does that answer your question?
10 months later, is it a good buy? I need to get one and need to make a choice
Hey Rashaad, no brainier purchase for my setup, which is router & fiber box. It keeps our internet on 24/7 through all loadshedding. It’s been a game changer. I’d buy it again in a heart beat. I’ve also purchased the Gizzu mobile powerstation (battery) which has been amazing. Need to make a video about that product.
@@Sean_Twomey Have you mounted this on your wall? I need to know how far apart I should drill
@@rashaadhartley No, mine is just sitting behind my TV next to my router. Haven’t had a need to mount it on the wall thus far.
Hey man what setting for a 5v modem and 12v fibre box together with a splitter, thanks, I can choose from 9v 12v 15v and 24v on the UPS with a switch , any advice on the maths so I dont blow anything up,lol
Hey Robbie, if your modem only needs 5v, then you'll need to find a different power source, which is annoying. I know (as you mentioned) this device provides 9v, 12v, and 15v. Double-check your modem to see if it might not support the range 5v-9v. If yes, then it should be able to use the 9v power.
Hi. I bought a 100w one but its not charging up. Any idea why? I have tried plugging it into 2 plug points.
Hey Nadia, thanks for the comment. It sounds like your device may have a defect or you're doing something wrong. Tough to help you without being able to see what you're doing and what you're seeing. Hope you can get it sorted. Let me know if you have any other questions.
So it won’t work if you don’t have fiber?
It should work with ADSL and LTE routers.
Thanks for the recommendation Sean!
Hey Eugiene, sure no problem! Glad you found it helpful.
Do you keep it permanently plugged in the router or just connect it when the power is out?
I keep it permanently plugged into the wall and use it as an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). That way when the power goes off I don't have to change anything for my internet to remain online. Keeping it plugged in permanently might degrade the battery over time, but I think with this Gizzu device it's fine to do so. I know that the larger Gizzu mobile power stations are not meant to be used as UPS's i.e. they should not be permanently plugged into the mains. I hope that helps.
@@Sean_Twomey This comment was 4months ago, does your router still work fine after being plugged in permanently? Bought one today but not sure if i should use it only when load shedding happens.
@@christoffbenade6692 Hi Christoff, yes still works perfectly. Have had no issues at all. I do expect the battery to eventually run out of cycles and at that stage I’ll need to replace the device but so far it’s been a perfect solution. 👍
would love if someone can do a video on how toconnect cctv camera dvr to this device- i see peoples reviews on takealot and they have said they connected their cctv but I dont know to do it as it's not just a straight forward plug in and work thing
Sorry, I don't use mine with CCTV cameras, but perhaps someone else could share a video.
What type of battery does it use if i want to replace the battery pack ? Type / mah / Volts ?
Hi Tiaan, thanks for your question. I'm not sure. I'm currently not planning on replacing the battery and I doubt that this is a device with a user replaceable battery. You'd have to contact the manufacturer to get answers to your questions or purchase a different device.
what if we do not have an item to measure the voltage
Hi, then take it into a hardware shop and get someone to help you. Alternatively, ask your local electrician.
hi Sean, do you perhaps have an email address or another I can contact you? I need some help with my Gizzu - I bought this 8800Mah one but then when i got it, I realised I needed one with more output slots at the back as I have 3 devices (My nokia Fibre box, my TP link Deco (which is the router) and then I have a TP Ethernet Hub (gives me more ethernet ports connected to my Router because my Deco router only has 2 ethernet ports - one of these ports is already taken up by the Fibre box then the second one is connected to my TP link ethernet hub - on the hub itself I have my Grandstream device which turns my normal cordless phone into voip phone and then my CCTV camera ethernet plug is also plugged in here and when my kid uses his Playstation we uses one of the ethernet ports as well. But the PS is not needed when its loadshedding. Will the 60W 65Wh Gizzu work for this setup as I see it has 4 x 12 V plugs at the back - could you explain what the Amps are? do all 12V give the same Amps?
Hi, thanks for your comment. Sounds like you may need to purchase two of these devices to give you the required outputs. I’m not sure what the output amps are, I just know that they provide 6, 9 & 12 Volts of power. I’m not familiar with the 60W 65Wh model. You may need to direct your questions to the manufacturer that should be able to provide answers. Hope you find a suitable setup. Cheers, Sean
How do you setup for router
Hi Mohsin, thanks for your question. You plug this device into your power socket. Then you connect both your router and your fiber box to this device making sure to select the correct voltage output. Hope this helps. Cheers, Sean
Can you please show a video on how to connect the fibre box and router to this ups?
@@renyssel7154 Hi Ren, you should have two cables in the box. The one has a two-prong plug at the end: put the plug into the wall socket and the other end into the "input" socket on the UPS. The UPS should stay permanently plugged in and on (when there's no loadshedding). Then you have another cable - there'll be three ends. Take the two ends that split and remove the power cable from the fiber box and from the modem and use these two ends in their place. If it's not the right fit, then remove the little adapter at each end - it should reveal a larger adapter. Then the remaining third end, plug that into the "output" socket on the UPS. Check the voltage of your modem (mine is 12V) and toggle the little switch on the UPS to the correct voltage. Then switch the UPS on - you may have to hold the power button down for a couple of seconds. Your equipment should start powering on.
