I feel like I'm in a constant battle of making a nice overgrown forest-y farm, and also having a very efficient farm layout so I can easily acess my mayo machines etc. It's difficult
I just keep my Mayo machines in chests, (I have 50) , the I pull them out every couple weeks or so and make all my eggs Mayo, then put them away again. That way I don’t have to worry about it every day
This is actually based on a real life experiment since sea urchins do pick up stuff using their spines and cover themselves with it so people in an aquarium started putting little hats in the tank and the urchins started outting them on

I just can’t compromise the productivity 😅 My game plan is to completely maximize gold for the first few years or so until I have more money than I’ll ever need-and only then I’ll go all in on aesthetics and minimal productivity
Hey ! I've got a tip for productivity nerds like us. Granted you have unlocked everything and just want to have a good looking farm that still gives you everything you need: - offload eveything that doesnt need to be on your farm to the quarry/bus stop/or desert areas. Make sure villagers dont destroy your stuff going through it and all that with the wiki, and voila ! I currently have 250 kegs around 100 cristalariums and other machines over the map, and none of them to flood my farm with. Also I would say prioritize areas close to minecarts to move around quickly. Everything else like fishponds and barns are great looking so I keep them around for looks. And lastly, have an area to get to the desert / island using obelisks, helps a ton and can be integrated in a cool plaza or hidden in a corner behind trees. Hope this helps with rethinking space usage Have a nice day : )

Especially for my tiny Riverland farm 😅 My farm is dug to the brim for crops minus three pig barns (still only 824 crops) so I definitely have to use outside my farm for the production. I have the bus stop filled with 284 kegs, the mines 51 jars, and my quarry is just starting to fill with about 80 jade crystallariums (for stairs). I plan to fill the rest with diamonds after about 100 jade makers because I’m already getting more stairs than I use. This is my first playthrough so I was kinda tryhard but looking back I wish I took the game more slowly. I feel like I’m going to reach end game pretty soon and I regret not spending more hours on this wonderful game. (But I’m SO excited to full-on decorate after the clock!)
I'm so used to min-maxing that even though I'm 8 years in game, I find it so hard to decorate. After watching this video, I'm so excited to try re-decorating again! I've painted my buildings and honestly can't find a nice combo I like, the colours are either too bright or too dull.
Hey! Happy to hear that my video was helpful :D I didn't really talk about mixing the decorating with gold income tho so that might be a problem if you're not done with most of the game yet. And yea colors are kinda difficult. I think it really depends on what items/trees etc. are surrounding the building and usually the default colors just fit the best.
I also found it annoying to paint buildings but a tip i would give you is go for muted colors and lots of browns, for instance my farmhouse is a sage green with dark down accents. I hope that helps a little bit :3

Stardew Valley: 2 in-game years playing the game followed by 4 more in-game years designing, decorating, and landscaping. :D One of the most helpful tips for me when starting a new farm is deciding what I want to accomplish before going in. This way I can choose which map will work best and start moving towards my goals from day one. For example, my next farm will be designed around the 4 Obelisks and I'll use the 4 Corner map with each of the corners designed around one of the obelisks....mountains, beach, desert, island. I can't wait to use some of the tips you showcased in this video!!
to be completely honest, when i think about redecorating i get overwhelmed! i’m on year 4 and have always favored an efficient farm over aesthetic, but now that i have a ton of money and no longer rly need to grind i really want to make it look pretty! i compare my farms to others and get stressed, thinking “omg where do i start”. i think i just need to remember that it’s a game and i’m supposed to have fun and make it my own! i will try and remember that lol. thank you for all the tips and ideas!
I am not that creative so I am just going to copy "your" idea with the aquariums in the shed but a bit less full. I like that a lot since it will basically clear 2 rooms in my house to fit other stuff in. Thanks and keep up the nice vids!

I personally use item spawner to give myself furniture/wallpapers after I buy the catalogs. Since the catalogs make them free anyways and I'd like to be able to search for them. Plus getting onetime quest items is fun. Can't go wrong with a shed filled with lucky purple shorts and golden lewis statues lmao
Honestly, I like small builds, I'm playing a Stardew game with friends and I set up a small area in the bottom left corner for my house and all my farming stuff
Once you upgrade your house with the kitchen, I place a small aquarium in the empty space in between the northwest corner. It's the perfect spot for an item and jazzes up the kitchen. I also love placing torches in my fences. The lighting looks great at night.
On a tangentially related note! Can you make a video on fishing. -are distance from shore and luck the only factors in getting trash?(is there the same kind of seeding similar to crops quality and clay plowing that goes into what you will catch?) -What are expected value of number of treasures? . . .

This is an interesting video to keep in mind I’m planning to start over but in my most recent edit to the inside of my house I made the room next to my ingame son’s room(well it’s prepared for him but hadn’t gotten the chance for the character I married to ask for a kid yet) was kind of meant to have an early 2000s-ish feel mixed with vapor wave.(I think I used a sunset looking wallpaper with multiple small photos wall item) Thanks to the update that added the fish tanks I plan to get as many large fish tanks as I can & put the legendary fish in them. They were originally kept in a chest in a shed meant to be my secret adventurer room(it’s full of items I got from the museum, the trophy for helping the community center, game cabinets & so on) hidden behind the giant bear statue but now I have a place for them. The new room add ons have made me think on what setups to work on. I want to try & turn the island farm house I can eventually unlock into a pirate themed place maybe.

The Mushroom Tree appeared naturally in my game on Spring Year 2. I honestly don't know where it came from. I made the mistake of cutting it down expecting lots of mushroom from it and it only gave me one single red mushroom so it's not worth it. I'm pretty noob at the game still, to be honest, and I don't know for sure but I think planting or dropping a red mushroom on soil would cause it to grow, maybe? It looks pretty cool, so I'll try to get another one, search on Google in case I'm wrong lol
Normal trees will randomly turn into them during the fall, or you can buy seeds if you go to ginger island, you have to get really far in the game to be able to use them as decor, which sucks for people like me who suck at the game but want a cottage core dream farm
I think the problem a lot of us have is we are considering landscaping before we've got perfection, so we worry about efficiency and practicality too. When landscaping you need to ignore practicality and just go for looks. I've got my obelisks near my house for convenience, instead of where they will look good. But by the time I've got perfection, I want to move on to a new game! =/
6:04 is showing Alex's spouse room with his workout equipment, and the grass terrain at 7:09 is from the farm map. Neither of those can be manipulated by the player.

THAT AQUARIUM ROOM!! I adore it. I had to pause the video just to admire it a while. 🧡🐟 Definitely agreed with you on painting the buildings, though they look really nice in summer when everything else also has vibrant colors. I went with teal, lime green, and purple for that season.

You can add floor tiles below a building. Just move the building with wizard or robin then add the tiles then put it back in its place.
Hmm when I tried this the tiles disappear... Am I doing something wrong?

My issue is making pathways interesting, stepping stones just don't look well, too large
I think in the past I've used a mix of stepping stones and cobblestone paths to create a varied look. Maybe you can try that?

Adding the time mod will allow you to pause time so you can edit your farm without the clock making you feel bad
