For starters, thanks for your videos and this 10 minute format you created. I think it is awesome people create these and it is always refreshing to see either converging or diverging opinions about a certain vehicle. I’d like to add a couple of remarks from my own experience with the Aegis Eclipse, to make the most of it.
For the current game version I’m having great success with the standard Argos IX torpedoes. Reason is, they can lock much closer to your target, at 1.0 km minimum, which is convenient, as the Eclipse can get to around 4 km before being detected. The other two types have a minimum lock distance of 2.6 km, both at more than double the velocity, sometimes giving you a hard time locking during those close up runs. I would refrain from doing group targets, as it is very hard to get the correct target from a cluster of enemies (bounty target names are not correct, so you can only target close up). In such case, the default torpedo gives you the best close up option. The standard torpedo’s speed is inconsequential in this scenario with this ship. For the current game my hit rate is around 95%, so they do work very well. Only the 890 Jump sometimes needs two or even three, but that is also true for the Seekers. 5% are duds, which probably is okay. I fire mostly between 7-5 km out, which will take between 30-20 seconds before impact. You just peel away slowly, making sure to keep at least 4.5 km distance and they won’t even ping you.
This ship is really meant for ERT’s and they will pay 30K each (with Call to Arms activated plus bounty bonuses). Three torpedoes cost slightly north of 10K, so you can have a profit of ~80K per run, of which you can do 5 per hour netting you 400k per hour, which is decent. We won’t compare with the current ‘meta’ of using the Reclaimer to print money, because that is only a very temporary thing, lol.
Pro tip for stealth gameplay, make sure you set up your HUD to show IR, CS and EM bars. That way you can see the detection range for other ships to spot you at. That way you will see having your QT drive spooled increases the range to 8 km! Which is not what you want. This is also a factor for the Hornet Ghost btw. So make sure to set your HUD up with these bars.
This ship was made for a Spectre QT Drive as it has the fuel for it (range will be 62 Mkm). I have changed shields to Mirages for the heck of it, but I’m getting rarely hit. A Slipstream powerplant can be convenient as well when cutting power while spline jumping, as it has the fastest reboot time for your ship.
For a lesser signature I would recommend Sawbuck ballistic repeaters. That way, you can also keep shields to max for a 4 km detection radius. Press ‘P’ to power them down when not in use. These guns can help you out in a pinch, dumping the maximum dps in as little time as possible, so you can bail quickly. Which you should, as this isn’t a dogfighter.
The ship is kinda slow indeed, but has good acceleration. If you keep stealthy, you don’t need the speed anyway. That is the challenge with this ship. As they say: “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast”.
All considering I prefer this torpedo bomber over the Retaliator. Because with that ship, they see you coming and will try to shoot your torpedoes down. Not so with the Eclipse, if you play it correct they won’t ever see you until they get smacked by a torpedo. The Retaliator needs to get fast enough to close (which it can) and benefits from the much faster running Seeker torpedoes.
I currently have the Eclipse pledged and I think I’ll keep it as it is a good way to get away from other game loops. I mean, I melted my SRV for it, that one does an easy million per hour, but that game loop is so tedious. Things should be fun and I rather play a lot longer while having fun instead of an hour of boredom towing a Hammerhead. This is exactly the reason I have a Vulture and a Prospector instead of a Reclaimer or Mole. Fun is a priority above speed of earnings.
$300 pledged is a bit much though, for a ship with a limited game loop. I’m invested into this game a ‘tad’ more (Grand Admiral concierge), but if one’s not I’d suggest to buy it in game or, for the money, there are far better ships to get for much less if you want to pledge a single ship (the Taurus springs to mind).
I really agree with not giving the Eclipse a 10/10. It needs a gold pass for that.
Cheers mate, greetings from the Netherlands, looking forward to your next video! o7
I just got one, pretty sure it will fit in the BMM hangar once that comes out. Can’t wait to load my BMM with S9 torps and use it to refuel/restock the eclipse. Make big bank with big boom and collect any leftover scraps to sell inside the BMM!
I absolutely love your reviews! Keep it up!
You're right. On Star Hangar, they go for just $210,-- drawbacks are priced in...
Is star hangar safe? The prices there seem nice.
@@KevinG9012 yea ive used it before it worked for me
@@KevinG9012 It's safe, just go for 5 star sellers.
@@KevinG9012use the impound I’ve bought many ships from them they come within 10 minutes
Love you reviews! I just found a BIS 2950 edition for cheap :D
How cheap? I was looking for one but the prices are actually absurd. Just got the chrome paint for $11 instead 😂
Best ERT farmer. Period, go in torps away done , restock and repeat. ez $
Limited visibilty from cocpit and those torps are expensive and you will have only 3 of them. Wont recommend for PvE bounties. But it has a high cool factor.
man evenlease this ship looks so good
I love my Eclipse. Love the looks inside and out, but I don't get it out often.
I love the Eclipse. The other day I was able to stealth into JT unnoticed till around 1000m. Then the ballistas locked on and started firing missiles at me. Surprisingly all missiles missed, probably due to the low IR/EM.
It’s a very hard target to hit due to its flat design, cross section facing a target is almost nothing
Next step is learn how to dumb fire those torps and those ballistas will be MAD
Hit near them they are toast.
For real money I just find it too expensive for being a single function ship. I have the Retaliator base (gives you the bomber) and with the extra torps in pve it works great.
Best ship in the game. So fun to fly
Try launching torps within 3.5km of target it's almost 100% hit
2:20 Does that include the Idris that spawns in Critical-level Service missions? After taking 2.5 hours to blow that sucker up two days ago with Ions, an Inferno and a Warden, I figure it's time I had a cap-ship killer in my fleet.
i hit 6 torpedos on the idris and didnt kill it
Awesome amazing video!! Question for you or anyone in the comments. I'm looking for a first fighter ship of my own. What do you (or anyone else here) think is the best fighter right now that DOESN'T move around like a total brick and is decently healthy?
For a solo player? F7. Master modes is coming in a month so things are changing, but I feel like the f7 is a solid choice
@@asog88 Which version would you say?
@@RespiteofChampions The Ghost is currently the best one, as it has stealth features make it quite hard to detect.
@@skullhqx What about the firepower? I heard that either the Wildfire or the Heartseeker are better in that department
@@RespiteofChampionsstock yes, but any hornet can upgrade and have the same amount of guns/firepower.
How is it vs the Tali?
New reviews on both ships are coming soon, the tali is much better for multi-crew bombing of large targets and has more torpedos. But the eclipse is great as a solo bomber with extreme stealth, so it all depends on how you want to play.
It's not a tumor...I mean, if this ship is a bomber then submarines are also bombers. Bombers drop bombs. Period.
Tell CIG this, it’s considered a bomber. Just like the WW2 TBF Avenger, also a torpedo bomber.
How can it be a bomber when it has torpedoes?
Cig Says so. Pico has demanded it
Google "torpedo bomber" and come back to that question
I'd love this ship more if I didn't absolutely despise torpedoes, they are way too powerful for having essentially no defense.
This ship has always felt a bit too OP for me. I’d rather it require the full load to take out a hammerhead and etc
It’s only “OP” against NPCs when the server isn’t going crazy.
Most players will just outrun the torpedo they only go like 700/ms.
So it’s only really good in particular situations.
@@APolishedTurd but look at master modes. It will keep up with all ships. Turrets need to have an easier time being made aware of and locking into missiles IMO. But if I’m in a fully crewed hammerhead and get blown up to this ship because we didn’t notice this specific missile because there were so many, imma be mad.
But missiles and counter missile mechanics need a serious update
@@asog88 Master modes actually make the Aegis Eclipse and other stealth ships of all types useless right now and that’s one of the big problems with master modes.
The torps are useless that close.
Try using them in a dogfight against a fighter in a scenario like that. Be my guest. Be prepared to have a terrible time and then lose because you’re trying to dogfight in an eclipse with two guns.
Mastermodes engagements are even taking place so close sometimes that you can’t even lock on with the torps.
The eclipse needs to cruise with shields off and all non essentials systems off with heat suppressed with only access to missiles switched on with the ability to run right after dumping the missile to be useful at all and right now in master modes they haven’t found a solution for it. Right now it would get stuck at its significantly slower SCM speed while trying to dump missiles on people who aren’t even in combat MM yet who can just run then turn on you like the easy prey you will be. The thing only goes 900 at max speed. It goes slower than a Connie lmao.
I have one and use it for bounties a lot but against small ships even in the current iteration it’s useless. It’s really only good against larger ships in atmo or getting the surprise on them.
I use it to scout player bounties and if they are in a small fighter that I can’t detect within 4000m I don’t even bother getting closer with it and go get a light fighter or something and come back to engage them.
@@asog88 You can shoot the torps down and they can be flared away pretty easily. That's why eclipse pilots need to be smart with stealth and get close enough to ensure a hit. Which with master modes is really risky
