And yet our PM struggles to understand how economically impacting all this divisive nonsense is. We need a leader with a backbone, who will call this bs out for what it is. Given that Maori (as a cohort of the population) suck way more out of the economy than they contribute in taxes, if they were acting in anyway in good faith, then the foreshore and seabed should be there for the BENEFIT OF ALL - period!

The SC thinks it's a judgment, it's on the paper as a judgment, and it applies with jurisdiction to allow the A-G's appeal, so... it sure looks like a judgment to me. A narrow one, vis a vis the appeal, but still a judgment. NZSC-164:
A The appeal (by the Attorney-General in relation to s 58 of
the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011) is
    allowed.
    B Costs are reserved.
    Introduction
[1] This is the first of two judgments relating to claims to customary rights in the
harbours, river mouths, beaches, and seascape of the eastern Bay of Plenty.1
I would have thought there were legal protocols for issuing judgments on matters which have been actively taken up by the legislature. This point is not even referenced in the judgment. It takes 70 pages of narrative to get to the issue at hand, which is that there is an appeal against a Court of Appeal judgment and here are the facts and arguments.
It does seem irregular, as Gary suggests.

I'm thankful, I dont know to who or what though, that there's nothing I care about enough to obsess over. Indeed its difficult to get too excited about much outside of my own bailiwick. I can only express pity while I wonder why an individual, once sucking on the governments teet, has found for himself a new life thinking about and speaking resentfully about the descendants of the other Treaty partner as though these folks are his natural enemy. To some, it may appear that Señor Plunket has a gnat in his britches that wont go away over the people that live, love and work in ways he arrogantly dissaproves of. I suppose being judgmental, a "gaslighter" and growly old Bear is his shtick. It's a pretty one dimensional life I would imagine. But as its been often said before, but not by Sean Plunket, theres room for everyone
