Thank you for this! I was afraid to bend the strips since they might stop functioning, but they’re still up! I won’t need to order those adapters. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Very good tips here including using non-water-proof strips if you are going to fold for a corner. Also, always bend at the end of the strip so you do not lose a whole strip. Another thing, if you bend a strip and the light changes color, remove on of the ic chips and the light will go out forever. Thank you for the great tips.
I have 3 X 32.8ftGovee RGBIC strip lights, I just noticed one is waterproof, Aghrr Can you show how to corner RGB-IC Strips, Thank for all you do Ron, You are the best...Keep them vids coming Ron
If I have an oval shaped mirror and I'm trying to line the led lights to turn it into a body vanity mirror, am I able to curve the led strip to trace the oval shape of the mirror? I know I could wrap the led around the side of the oval frame, but I didn't want to do that. Hopefully this made sense
Wha my about rounding led strips. I bought them for my vanity mirror which is super ornate (just how I like it) and has lots of “curves” to the mirror.
Will removing an LED chip (in order to make the fold) change the Numbering of the LEDs? I have biased lighting to install but they are very specific for numbering and being addressable. If I remove LED #3 from the strip will the 4th LED become the 3rd? Or Do I need to solder the data connections to make sure it bypasses? Thanks!
You don't say what type of strip you have. The microchip that controls each LED can be internal to the LED body or mounted next to it. The thing to know is it is the chip that is being addressed, not the LED itself. So if you can remove just the LED but leave the chip, the numbering won't change (#3 will not light up but all the numbers are the same). If the chip is integrated with the LED then both will be removed together, the number sequence will continue with the next chip in line (#4 will become #3 and so on).
Yes, it's called persistence of vision (POV). Not all RGB LEDs are fast enough to pull it off, but the dotstar/APA102's are. Example: ua-cam.com/video/1CB3UVmEcB0/v-deo.html
When you use the foam tape do you peel off the backing and stick the sticky part of the LED to the sticky part of the tape where do you leave that backing on and then attach the foam tape. I don’t know if that made sense
Nice vid and great info...thanks. Particularly appreciate you explaining things as you go. For those few complaining about not being able to see some things (that you describe precisely) , maybe electrical DIY is not for them. :) sub earned
I was worried about that, I had 10 shelves in the showroom with LEDs setup like this for over 5 years on 12 hours a day at the end they all still working.
Could you recommend where I can purchase the best LED Multicolor Strips? I have spent soo much money on strips that last under a year it's ridiculous. Please help!
OK so this might not make any sense whatsoever, but I'll ask you anyway teehee 😊. OK so... When you buy a led strip and cut it in half were your allowed to how can you get that strip that you cut off to still be in sync and light up? (little example.. So I put the led strip on my walls and cut it so I could install it on my TV but how can I get it to work properly - without buying extra stuff) - but if I do need to order more stuff can you show me step by step please. Thank you.
If I was to put this item on the soffit board and I bent it around both my corners to go all the way around the house by the time I get to the last few metres do they start to fade out given that the power to the lights Is further away from the power point
This RGB Waterproof LED Strips great variety of colors very suitable for lighting, Gaming Setup and interior decoration as a kitchen under the closet dining room, bedroom, party, wedding indoor use. I'm highly recommending @ ua-cam.com/video/vgLOkPCyY9k/v-deo.html
Damn pretty informative but without any specifics on brands or links on how to buy most the info is useless. Imagine goin online trying to find all these specific great infos in the product descriptions. For those who dont want a masters degree on current led tech.
If you need help apart from this video, I learnt this is woodwork, there is a rubber covering if you cut to the Right amount then it will be easy to fold, DO NOT CUT TO DEEP if you cut to deep you will break your lights good luck ig
Does anyone know if when you bend them over and have a singular overlapping led square will heat up and damage it? That wording doesnt seem right but i hope you understand what im trying to say haha
DOES GOOGLE EDIT EVERYTHING? HOW CAN THERE ONLY BE POSITIVE COMMENTS WHEN HE JUST SAID THAT BENDING THE LIGHTS TO MAKE A RIGHT ANGLE CAN DAMAGE OR BREAK THE LIGHT STRIP. ARE PEOPLE NOT LISTENING OR JUST PLAIN STUPID??? WHEN YOU TRY TO BEND YOUR LIGHTS AND THEY BREAK YOUR THE ONE THATS STUCK WITH BROKEN LIGHT STRIP. WHY SOMEONE WOULD SHOW YOU HAOW TO DAMAGE YOUR LIGHTS AND NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND LEAVE YOU HOLDING THE BAG, GETS MY SHORT AND CURLY'S....LMAO...
This helps a lot BUT most LED strip kits simply say cut the strip (on the dotted lines) but say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about reconnecting and do not include corner connectors, like you’re just supposed to overlap them and they’ll work. Extremely frustrated and I was hoping you might comment on that issue. I’ll look through your channel and hopefully you have an answer

1. Don’t ever fold and bend Strip light. 2. Don’t rip the water proofing coating to make a bend. The lights are now non water proof.
Can you please tell me how to bend the led strips with the waterproof coating ?

Could folding them cause any heat? Possible fire? I've had a rolled up role once over heat when left switched on. Thanks

If you break a light on an addressable strip, all the downstream lights no longer work. You'd have to solder a jumper to restore the chain.
I'm so thankful you can buy non soldering connectors.
Is it possible to use the led strip to draw ??? Any image or write without using the neon light

It's not really 'bending', it's creasing. The latter being more likely to cause problems in time. Sure it might work right now, but for how long..?
