I started building in 1974 as a kid. I have worked by myself for most of my builds. You learn to just do it and make guides and helpers (without people) to lift parts in the air and hold things. Clamps, screws, wood and brackets are your friends. I also grew up in Fairbanks as a kid in the 60's. Some of the reason I watch what you do. Learn to embrace the quiet and keep working...I still do it and am actually going outside to work on my stuff and building. Love it.....btw that boom is great, I have used a 60 footer and that's up there..

Looks AWESOME, Timmy! I do feel sorry for you when it comes time to stain all the trim again in a few years, those are a lot of boards to go over with stain. You sure have the eye and talent for design! Just be careful out there in those slippery conditions, don't need or want anymore injuries. Thank you for sharing your dream and being able to watch you make your dream come true. I keep picturing you on the roof top, sitting around the fire, and enjoying the view AFTER IT IS COMPLETED. I don't know if I have ever seen you just sit and not do anything? You are usually editing or doing something when you are sitting, so you sitting and enjoying the view will be a treat for me.

Retired airline mechanic, we called those lifts JLG's because that was a prominent brand. I would go up to about 65 feet to replace static wicks on the vertical stab of a Triple Seven, didn't have to worry about messing up my house but I was about 3 inches from a five hundred million dollar airliner so there was that...

Absolutely love watching this come together. I know a lot of people enjoy simple trucklife videos, but project videos are my favorite. The rooftop deck is going to f*ing epic. I would like to build a one story house since I find it easier to keep single stories evenly climate controlled, but seeing this I really want to redesign a one story with a rooftop deck in chief architect instead of a shed roof (especially with the heated cables for snow melt, which I've never heard of)

yeah but you have all of us! so you are not alone. if I lived closer I'd come and help you out even though I am no carpenter! going up and down those stairs would be a good workout!
sad seeing the birds knowing one is gone. my daughter loves birds and when she was a teen we would get her parakeets. but they do die more frequently than other pets, and there is no end to trouble if they get out and a window is open. just always turn off ceiling fans with birds... we lost one this way because we were new bird owners and did not even think about it..
