Awesome trip dude!! Nice work on those nice pompano and that good sized trout!! Great job with the turtle as well, it’s bound to happen at some point from the surf or the pier. Got to see a nest boil and the little ones make their way to the water last fall.
That’s really cool. I haven’t seen that before, nor ever seen a big turtle nesting on the beach. But yeah, epic day that will be tough to beat… can’t wait to do it again.
Beautiful fish all around. That was cool with the turtle. The blues hold a special place for me. When I was a kid we'd shoot over to Topsail to surf fish and hit docks on the sound. Blues were the first species I ever caught. Keep the videos coming!
I appreciate it buddy. What a special day and it will never be topped as far as memories go. Thats really cool about Topsail. I bet it was a cool fishery back then before all of the pressure.
@@ericwilliamsfishing back then it was awesome. It was like Mayberry. No crowds even in summer and plenty of good fishing. We'd leave the farm after morning chores and be back with fresh fish for supper. Good times. I'll keep watching you fish until we can get back there ourselves!
Great video as always Eric!!! Awesome job of taking care of the turtle, I’m with you they are cool creatures and I’m glad our state takes such good care of them
If I were you? I'd go back to the bait shop after fishing and take home some of those shrimp to eat. Bait houses try to keep them cold but maybe not at food levels. Ask them when the next delivery time/day is and be there.
That’s awesome and something I’m excited for this summer. I use to make my own rigs but it’s way easier just to spend the $5. I’ve been buying my rigs this year.
Great channel Eric! Nice to see someone local catching something. Im haunted by pins this year. Would you mind showing close ups of your rigs? Every time you pull in a fish i'm wondering "what is that rig?? 😁
lol. They are all over the place man. I buy half of them and make the other half. I’d say the most important thing for me is make sure they are circle hooks and I switch the colors on each rod in case it matters that day.
Just curious, what's the difference between a sea mullet and a whitting? I fish in Hilton head island in south Carolina and call them whitting and use them for redfish bait
@@ericwilliamsfishing thank you for clarifying for me. I've been so confused and all the other channels never responded to my comments. Have a good day!
These are 9' Okuma Rockaways 10-20lb rating. I got a matching set at the beginning of this year along with spinfisher 4500's. You can get the previous models of each on Amazon for much cheaper than the new ones. I think they are so comperable to the new ones that its not worth the added cost.
Do you recommend Circle Hooks and Double drop rigs overall? I’ll be in Oak Island for a week and have never mess around with the surf much. I planned to run two rods while the kids play. Looks like fresh shrimp, and those Pompano rigs are the ticket
I think circle hooks are way more important than anything else for rigging. Circle hooks allow you to be more casual about it, whereas any other type of hook will require a hook set in order to catch a fish. I’m exclusively a circle hook guy and often have a fish on when I’m doing other things and not paying complete attention. Fresh shrimp is just as important.
Awesome video as always. I’ve only been to Wrightsville Beach and it’s always crowded so it’s hard to surf fish. Would you mind sharing what beach this is and what time of day?
I don’t like to blast my spots because I’ve worked hard to find areas that I can fish when the time is right. I do feel your pain though and wish you the best with the when and where. Nothing personal with this response - just know how hard I’ve made it on myself already by uploading videos.
Hello Eric! Just recently moved to the Raleigh area and was wondering if u could point me to a few beaches on the coast that r good fishing! Tight lines 🤘
Cape lookout is the best right now but it all can be good depending on conditions. Try Hatteras, Ocracoke, Beaufort area, Emerald Isle, Oak Island. Any of them.
Nice fishing! What beach are you at? Thinking of going to MB in the coming weeks.. would like to know if pompanos are biting before heading there, and not waste the trip. Would appreciate and feedback. Thanks! Subbed!
We had a storm come through and jacked everything up. I don't know of anyone thats able to do much fishing right now because its been blowing 20. I live in Wilmington NC.
Nothing like surf fishing.
Its the best!
Earned a ton of respect from me…anybody hating on sea turtles is no friend of mine! Love that you cleaned him/her up from the barnacles as well 😂🤙🏻🙏🏻🍻
I imagine him telling his friends about his wild ride at the beach. 😂
😂😂😂👍@@ericwilliamsfishing
9:30 that pomp pulled really hard! Really exciting whenever I see rod bend like that
They are extremely strong for their size. It’s amazing to see.
Great video. Nice work taking care of that turtle!
Thanks so much buddy. I’m happy to help the ecosystem to the best of my ability.
Just pure fishing. Nicely done.
Thanks for checking it out buddy. I appreciate you.
Have a turtle hatch story that is nuts. No time now. Griffins a handsome animal. Good on you cleanup on turtle. Gotta run for now.
Thank you for the love!
I really enjoyed your video & so glad to see you taking care of the turtle. They have it hard enough without ppl being cruel to them.
Thanks so much for watching it and I appreciate the kind words.
Kudos for taking care of the turtle brother! Great video!
Thank you for watching. I appreciate it.
What an awesome day. Big speck from the surf was really cool.
That made my month right there. Haha.
What a day! Congrats
Thanks buddy. I’ll never forget this one.
Love your videos! Thanks for a great fishing experience! Really interesting to know what fishing gears you are using! Good luck 🤞👍🥳
Thanks brotha. I think I talked about it in the video but Spinfisher 4500’s and 9’ Okuma Rockaway rods.
@ericwilliamsfishing Thanks 👍🥳
Great video! We are traveling to Cape Hatteras this October to try OBX surf fishing. I'm here looking for tips and techniques. Thanks for posing this!
Good luck buddy. I hear that the Pompano are up there now so best of luck!
Awesome pomp’s and day altogether, one for the books. I’ll definitely be trying that bead rig next time I get a chance. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah. It seems like they were equally hitting colors too. I appreciate the support!
Columbia, NC!
Yes sir! That’s my hometown.
Great work, thanks for bringing us to the beach with you
Thanks for watching!
Nice, Eric! That’s a day and a half right there, three solid surf pomps here is always a great day!
I don’t know if I’ll ever beat it… haha. I guess I have a lofty goal now.
I am almost crying at the speck you gave back!!
That was my best from the surf so I had to give back to the ocean, who gave to me.
Dude what an epic day!
Thanks buddy. It really was and will be hard to beat.

I like putting slot measurements on my rod. Sharpie..model paint and small brush. Handy & quick.
That's a really good idea. I do have a tape on my cart but I can eyeball them pretty good too at this point.

I appreciate you watching. I have a whole surf fishing playlist but this is my best day ever. Haha.
Well, that was a good one! Dogo is cool too. That pompano looked cool. They good to eat?
Sick man!
Thanks brotha!
great job on the vid! That was an incredible day fishing!! Nice pomps and a very nice spec! My pb pomp is 1.72 pounds. Looking to break 2 pounds.

What a great day of fishing!! Just got me fired up for my trip out there next month! Awesome video! Tight lines! 🎣
I appreciate it! I really don't think I am going to beat this for many years... Good luck when you get back out!
Nice I’m coming over on the 29th to masonboro inlet net Wednesday, you going out
No clue brotha. I don’t decide to fish until the day before or morning of. Good luck!
@@ericwilliamsfishing yea did great we left with about 26 spanish caught all them half mile pass the Jetties between the 2 bouys

Heard that brotha.
Where do you get those floats at?
Island tackle in Carolina beach.
You crushed it. 👊
Thanks for the support buddy.
We had good luck Saturday at emerald isle with monster Spanish off end of pier.
Do you make those bottom rigs?
That’s awesome and something I’m excited for this summer.

Nice, picked up a nice citation pomp a week and a half ago down there.....my first of the year as well. Nice work, good video.

I’m not sure what they are called but Island Tackle in Carolina Beach has them. I really like them.

What type of hooks do you like to use on your dropper rig for pomps?
Thx in advance!!!
I switch between ones and twos, Gamakatsu or Owner is the way to go.

You should catch fish. Yeah. This was this week.

We did catch some drum and sheepshead! Good bites at the tide changes (we were out there during high tides, mostly) Great fun!

any tutorial links on how to tie that rig with the beads?
I don’t have one. I could use one though. Haha. $5 a piece is killing me.
Have you ever done any fishing from Holden
No sir. That’s a little too far for me.
Great day for sure. Should have done a catch and cook with those pompanos.
You are right. I just didn’t have it in me last night to cook. Haha. I was worm slam out once I finished cleaning them.

I can’t spot burn buddy. Too many friends would be impacted.
