      Sometimes if you don't get it soon you don't get it at all but I think he should have studied Duran instead of jumping into that fight he had a lot to learn and was very reckless but he sure had some flashy hands and some power yo

      @@harryheath9928 A manager who would have his fighters best interest in mind would never have the compunction to throw in a fighter with only 12 fights against an all-time great in a born assassin like Roberto Duran that soon. But what from was also documented Michael Franceze that Moore’s management was clicked up with some underworld guys at that time to and they put Moore in a situation where he was forced to fight Duran with a abscesses tooth. Look up hbo real sports on that

      But after this he was a hot underdog an a favorite that I tuned into. it was the money he took Duran way too much for granted

    Much Love to Davey Moore 🥊. I was really quite surprised and very taken back when I read of his passing in the Boxing Monthly magazine over home in England when I was a 15 year old. Such a shame how he died and how his career went after his Fight with Duran in June of 83. He never was the same again. Classic case of he had it to young far to early. But he was a good fighter with very good natural ability. RIP Davey never forgotten you young warrior 🥊🥊🥊

      Sure he had his flaws but you could still see the glory in him I seen that flashy footwork and combinations Duran was a bad choice especially after having dental work I know from personal experience Ayala Jr. he would've had some understanding of what is was

      Do you mean also when he was an amateur champion? Kalule got the most out of himself. He wasn't a great natural talent, he was all about skill, stamina, will, defense, and technique.

    • @xchindit
      @xchindit 3 роки тому +2

      You picked a good one. Kalule was one hell of a fighter. However he was already washed up when he won the title. Too many tough fights, too long staying at light middle when he should have been fighting at middleweight. By the time he fought Leonard, McCallum, Moore etc. he was a shell of the fighter he had once been.

  • @Kmac005
    @Kmac005 4 роки тому +6

    I believe the stoppage was appropriate. Kalule was not punching back and Moore was really starting to tee off.
    Moore had considerable potential, but that was short-circuited to a large extent by running into Roberto Duran.

    • @Belburg
      @Belburg 3 роки тому +1

      Probably. He should have not taken the fight with Roberto, if his tooth was messed up. But the stakes were probably too high. Often wonder if Davey had remained at welterweight, how fast he would have progressed.

    • @charlesrazo7246
      @charlesrazo7246 3 роки тому +2

      @@Belburg The reason Davy wanted the fight with Duran was to put a big name on his resume. Why not Duran was an overblown lightweight. Duran was already 5 years past his prime. By that time Duran looked old and slow. Roberto only got into shape for Davy is because bob arom promised Duran a big pay day with Marvin Hagler. At that time of Durans career money was his biggest motivation.

    • @Belburg
      @Belburg 3 роки тому

      @@charlesrazo7246 In that case, I can understand Roberto's motivation. But also feel he used a thumb to hinder Davey's fight plan that night. I liked Davey, real nice fighter. But that loss ruined everything for him.

    They say his fight with Mihara was fixed because the WBA wanted to have first dip into South Africa (which they eventually did) and Japan at the time did not allow their citizens to travel to South Africa due to Apartheid. In essence, Moore was then supposed to lose to Charlie Weir so the WBA would have a hold in the African country. Those are, however, unproven rumors. Davey Moore was an excellent fighter who was thrown too early into shark infested waters, given too soon to the lions. May he be basking in glorious light next to the Lord almighty, Amen!

    Moore reminds me a bit of Pipino Cuevas. A good puncher-brawler who won a string of knockouts and got exposed against the better fighters. Both fighters lost to almost every high quality fighter they faced.
    Aside from a fading Benitez who Moore stopped off an ankle injury he really did not beat a good quality champion. For a time it was Moore who was talked about as an opponent for top fighters. Hagler, Curry and Hearns.
    As we see here his face first sloppy style would not have fared well against those top guys.
