Yeah the clear ones are cool, especially because you can put some additional artwork on the inside. That's what I did with my vlog series tapes which are shown in my digital files to VHS vid. My heart still belongs to the run of the mill slipcovers tho
Got real tired of the tapes I've been trying to find/collect being expensive, covered in mold, bad quality, etc, I'm about to make sooooo many wrestling tapes with this
Hell yeah that's the name of the game honestly. I love making custom VHS tapes/DVDs of stuff that doesn't really exist on those formats. I guess we are weird like that lol
Where are the tapes? I recently recorded the first episode of Game of thrones onto VHS...fun stuff!! Printing labels is the easy part, getting the tapes done is the main effort imho! Especially with the best equipment you can to do it, not talking about using DVHS )1080iHD VHS) or SVHS (DVD quality VHS) but just a regular HiFi 6 head VHS VCR!!! That is good enough. The rest is icing. NEVER use an entry level VHS VCR that in mono - it is not just hissing bad audio, it also has degraded video output!
At the time of recording this I didn't have any blank tapes at my disposal for using. But I did go in depth of how to put anything from a computer onto VHS earlier this year. That video has been up on the channel for a bit. Nice to see a fellow tapehead doin their thing!
Creating a business putting current movies onto VHS is a good idea, yet it would probably still break copyright laws if you tried to scale it up. I think people are starting to get into collecting VHS and any movie after 2006 is not available. Certain ones are already expensive, for example Napoleon Dynamite VHS is freaking $50 on Ebay. I also see that they are grading VHS already. I think within 5-10 years VHS collecting will start to be like people collecting records. Just need an old TV and VCR to go alone with it...Maybe a way to hook up a wall of old T.V.s and be able to play a movie on all of them. Right now most VHS have little value, which makes it a fun hobby, as it is cheap to get into.
Yeah it is hard to say. People like vinyl for the quality, can't say that about VHS. Then again many people, like myself, are in it for the aesthetic more than anything else. I like collecting odd things/stuff I really like on VHS. Some people get it, some don't. As far as the business idea goes, I would love to maybe start something where I let people send me videos and a few bucks and get a VHS compilation in return. Liminal space vids on tape or something. Some people are bold enough to put copyrighted stuff on tapes and sell them. Others are not. I am others. Lol.
If you download the links in the description you should be able to load those into Pixlr and design your own covers. There is a template and one that is completed
Behold, perhaps the nerdiest thing I've done on the channel...
maybe this channel is just a dumpster for random vhs content now lolz
These are flipping awesome!!! I am excited to get back into printing.
@@dchardin1 thank you!!
I love this! I personally think that If I made and sold customs I’d do those clear clamshells! It reminds me of ex-rental or library copies!

Nice Job Bud. - Toronto, Canada.
This has given me some ideas here, though for me I'm taking a KOTOR saga that I found here on youtube and I'm doing what Hollywood won't do.
