@@Artiphon Great to hear that, what can the owners of the 1 expect to get without paying and through the firmware update that’s going to bring us closer to the Obra 2 experience?
@@Artiphon Evidence as a customer points to the contrary. You "committed" to quantization on the original Orba as a "top priority" for two years. I think Artiphon has a pretty consistent history of not following through on customer promises.
Why should someone with an Orba buy this when you have to use a phone? If you sample on your phone you can use Orba 1 as a controller. Koala sampler is less then 5 Euro. In Standalone we could talk but with external gear needed... for me that is Orba 1.5 and overpriced compared to the original. Waiting for the Orba Pro with 12 Tones, a better Speaker, on board sampling and quantisation and control settings on the device itself.

He rotates it in the video, is that an actual feature? Like pitch shift by tilting? And side slap for other sounds? I just saw this at guitar center and played with it for like 20 seconds but it's for sure on my holiday list either way.

Oh wow. That sounds great! Does the app have Voice Over support? I am blind and would love to use a pocketable sampler like this one to make music. Great jobbonce again on this product.
Hey there, we have heard this request from a number of customers and while the app is currently not very accessible we do want to improve in this area.
No, we can find the keys by orienting ourselves with the power key. The problem is apps that are not intercepted by screen readers. I use both Windows and android. Much better OrbaSynth on Windows that is intercepted by nvda and narrator. Could you use the same platform as OrbaSynth for the Orba app?@BumbleBee
Hey there, first, connect your Orba 2 to the Artiphon Connect app. Then, in Chord mode, press the preset name in the upper left-hand corner of the "Play" tab. Press "Key." From there, you can switch over to a minor scale.
Of course! I'm happy to link you to our Where to Buy page, where you can find a retail store in your region that sells Orba 2. Thanks! artiphon.com/pages/where-to-buy
Sadly it has no Arpeggiator... shame, as this is a device just crying out for it. I would've bought it as it has everything else I wanted that the Orba 1 didn't have. Korg mini Kaossilator 2 has 50 arp patterns and it was brilliant for quick simple track making. I still carry it around with me like my mobile phone. Very fun to use and experiment with..sadly it has limited sounds but you can mess around with them. Damn this could've replaced it as my travel toy.
I bought the first Orba, downloaded the Orba synth settings then the 2nd one came out - bought that and it will not record a sample properly - mangles it - too fast, no sound, whooshing noise - fed up
There is! You can send MIDI from Orba to your hardware synths using a USB to MIDI host. I'll link to our video on how to do this here: ua-cam.com/video/tF9RIBNT8Kc/v-deo.html
Just looks like an orba 1 with updates that shouldn’t require buying another device. You see apps like koala that cost less than 10 bucks with continuous updates. Makes this just look like an overpriced paperweight.
Hi there, we have been working on bringing some feature requests to life on Orba 1, like quantization and sample playback. Some of these features require more processing speed than Orba 1 allowed. Because of this, we had to make changes at the hardware level. Orba 2 is a significant hardware upgrade with a completely rebuilt sound engine to allow sample playback and quantizing. It has a 3x faster processor, 32x more RAM, and gigabytes more storage for your songs, samples, and presets.
So are the notes permanently locked? The manual and videos talk about "default" pentatonic scale, "default" chords, etc. But I cannot find how to alter these "defaults". Are we forever stuck in in the pentatonic scale?
Hi Jon, if you're looking to use other presets, please connect your Orba to the Orba app. In the app, you can browse through many sound options. As for the scales, the Orba app does have a diatonic lead preset. You can also switch between major and minor scales and any key. 👍
Good question! "per-part quantization" means you can choose to quantize some parts and not others. For example, quantize your drum loop but not lead or other instruments.
Hi Pieranna, at this time, Orbasynth is only available to edit Lead, Chord, and Bass parts. Unfortunately, Windows does not currently support MIDI over Bluetooth.
Grazie a tutti.
Hi Dama, when trying to erase a loop, please make sure to hold A + pad 6 while the LEDs circle Orba twice. Sample recording is available in the Orba 2 app for Windows, so please make sure you are using the Orba 2 app rather than the Orba 1 app. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us at support@artiphon.com, and we'll be happy to help. 😄
Great question! Orba 2 does not have a built-in microphone, you'll use your phone or computer to record the samples, and then transfer them onto your Orba.
@@Artiphon can ya toggle quantization on and off, or export tracks ,also how rich is the sample edit features, and can Orba 2 use Orba cam and Orba synth ?
@@Artiphon i'm sorry but this is weak. quantization is a software feature . there is no way that you needed new hardware for most of these features. if the original Orba was so badly designed that you couldn't provide a way to transfer small samples from a phone app or do quantization onboard then you should be offering every orba 1 owner a cheap upgrade path to provide the functionality originally promised or hinted at.
Hi! I have an Orba 1 and yes, you can control the volumen for each independent track directly from Orba just by pressing A + the track you want to change + volumen button(-/+). Artiphon has a video about and I imagine it will be the same for Orba 2. About the asdr, yes, now you change asdr through the Orbasynth software synth. You can change those parameters making new sounds or changing the originals orba 1 app sounds. I can't talk about the Orba 2 app, not sure if you could do that. They have some videos too about Orbasynth.
@@beckysantmarc i didn’t see any per-track volume manageable with only the Orba 2: volume buttons are only global; to change the volume of a single track you need to connect the Android/iOS app. Maybe I’m missing how to press buttons simultaneously to do it?
@@Pictor13 Hi! Yes you can. You have to press and hold down the A button + the pad or button of the channel of which you want to modify the volume. Important: HOLD DOWN both pads while you modify the volumen using + or - volumen control. You will see some lights indicating whether you increase or decrease the volume of that channel. And every channel has their own colour lights.
I’ve had over 100 drum machines and samplers in my lifetime and Orba is the only thing I struggle to make music on mainly because no quantization and the nature of the device really needs it. You guys said it was coming in an update but never did so. Also, the shipping took like half a year and now I hear you’re doing the same thing with Orba 2. you guys are legit a shady company and you’ll do anything for a quick money grab. My advice for anyone looking for some device, that’s easy to make music handheld. Go get a pocket operator KO. also phones have shitty microphones. Is that the only way to sample in? Why wouldn’t you do sampling in direct via line in so the samples are quality if you’re depending on your phones microphone and all your samples are going to sound like 💩 . Anyways, I hope this company fails miserably.
I have a KO and have no idea what I'm doing. Is there a good place to go online for a bunch of samplea for it? I have real instruments to make my own but kinda don't want to waste the time.
Q: Can you import additional midi instruments to load onto the device, outside of ones available in the app? - edit: First question removed because it was just a confusion on my part.
"Outside of DAW creations when used as a controller" Actually not true....You can record Orba 1 as an instrument in any DAW... so you can create a loop and take it onboard GarageBand for example... I tend to record each layer as I go along because it gives me more flexibility.... but, am quite happy to use a set of tracks as one instrument. It is still way ahead of what we were doing in the early '70s... additionally, my loops now are not on fragile magnetic tape... I can cut them about as I please.... duplicating a recording is simple. But you can take your sounds in as an instrument... or as I also do... pass the loop through the iVCS3 and into GarageBand....
@@lapredelaforge2124 @LaPré DelaForge I think I was just confused about what the export feature was that they removed and my question didn't come across right as it was. So I removed that question to not get others confused by my own confusion. I use it inside of Ableton myself and know you can record the notes the orba plays back from a recording on it, I don't know a way to separate the layers doing that though that are on the orba such as drums, bass, chord, lead, instead will play back every note in ableton onto the same 'armed' track. There may be a way but I'm not sure of one and 'thought' that function was what they removed to save and import the layers as separate midi layers. However, the more I read.. I think they just removed saving it as a song like an mp3 because it wasn't working right, but you can save that anyway by using line-in. - sorry for my own confusion! // EDIT: what you suggested is good adive though.
@@meiica1892 "I don't know a way to separate the layers doing that though that are on the orba such as drums, bass, chord, lead, " I am certain that you can't divide the tracks once you've created a loop... Part of the reason I am using two Orbas is to have one in on one channel, the other on another. It would be nice to export a loop as Midi Per Part as opposed to controlling that way.... that would allow us to save a loop into GgeBand, etc as four tracks that can then be tweaked!
Ppl shouldn’t buy orb2 as Its such a waist of money buying a product you ks and then in a year they basically kick you in the teeth saying hey ks this now. Bs .
Well done Artiphon its a decent upgrade 👍 Now for my rant at the moaning loons as I do not understand the moaning nannies. A company makes an upgrade to their existing product range as do many others, and people just moan moan moan 🙄 Get over yourselves and if you can do better then you know what to do. Any sane business is not going to wait and wait then release their next product or product update and throttle any future sales growth, and yes they may have been promising to provide quantization and it did not happen - well this happens and especially in these uncertain times and smaller tech firms do not have those deep R&D pockets - so grow up people, so stop complaining and start playing!

On top of that, probably, it was the slide feature for that little wine glass demonstration, I thought it’d be dope for droning sounds, but then it wasn’t included. Wonder why they removed those features? And why they still market them as still available features?
Hi Benny! If you received your Orba 1 in the last 30 days, you are welcome to return it for a full refund. Reach out to support@artiphon.com for help with the process.
This is way cooler than Garage Band. F YEAH.
Where is instrument 2? bluetooth support?
Thanks for the suggestion Franky!
Uu i've got not money!!! Sniff
I just got my Orba 1 a little over 3 months ago, and even tho it's fun to use, instead of doing anything to really improve it through the software, In the e-mail you guys are really like hey see the old one, it's crap, get the new one... like gee thanks
Hi Simeon, we are still committed to supporting software and firmware upgrades for Orba 1. 👍
@@Artiphon Great to hear that, what can the owners of the 1 expect to get without paying and through the firmware update that’s going to bring us closer to the Obra 2 experience?
So will the original Orba now become redundant as far as software updates are concerned.
We are committed to supporting both Orba 1 and Orba 2 with software + firmware updates. Hold us to it! 👍
I'm worred Orbas will become obsolete if they don't sell enough 2s and just give up on both. Sort of an EA approach.
@@Artiphon Are you working on bringing quantization to orba 1?
@@Artiphon Evidence as a customer points to the contrary. You "committed" to quantization on the original Orba as a "top priority" for two years. I think Artiphon has a pretty consistent history of not following through on customer promises.
@@zurlocker1 Exactly what I think. Seems like they're liars and they tend to ignore users. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong, but, well...
Koala is an awesome app and will far surpass anything the Orba can do.
Hi there! Orba 2 allows more expressive control of your sample playback with use of gestures, and if you like Koala, we think you'll really enjoy Orba 2!
Unfortunately the greed has got the hold of them.
They are only interested in supporting the simpletons with compliments and not those with real concerns and questions.
Marketing 101: ignore the masses struggling so the small minority feels heard 😆
Hi Jon, I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
I still haven't learned how to use my Orba One.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. 😄
He rotates it in the video, is that an actual feature? Like pitch shift by tilting? And side slap for other sounds? I just saw this at guitar center and played with it for like 20 seconds but it's for sure on my holiday list either way.
Hey there, yes! You can use expressive gestures like Tap, Press, Tilt, Radiate, Vibrato, Bump, etc. We made a video all about them. 😄
ua-cam.com/video/4t2_hxIlHVM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Artiphon
Can I sing into this machine and have it loop that?
Yes! You can sample anything. Check out this video where we play with a voice sample: ua-cam.com/video/uggFqcgaWoQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Artiphon
The real answer is NO. You have to use your phone or PC
How to play minor chords
Hey there, first, connect your Orba 2 to the Artiphon Connect app. Then, in Chord mode, press the preset name in the upper left-hand corner of the "Play" tab. Press "Key." From there, you can switch over to a minor scale.
Sir can you please help me out to purchase this orba..I am from India..please Sir..
Of course! I'm happy to link you to our Where to Buy page, where you can find a retail store in your region that sells Orba 2. Thanks!
artiphon.com/pages/where-to-buy
@artiphon, do you have a way to disable motion sensor for modulation. I have a orba 2
Hey Emmanuel, there's no way to do this at this time.
Hi Reggie, we love the idea. It's a function we'd love to implement in the future. I'll be sure to pass that feedback along to the team.
@@Artiphon definately keen to purchase this ... additon of a touch type arpeggiator or similar would make it an essential purchase for sure.
Can I use my Bluetooth headphones with this
Hi Gee, while Orba 2 doesn't have Bluetooth audio capabilities, it does have a headphone jack. 👍
I bought the first Orba, downloaded the Orba synth settings then the 2nd one came out - bought that and it will not record a sample properly - mangles it - too fast, no sound, whooshing noise - fed up
Hey there, we'd be happy to help you with your samples. You can contact us at support@artiphon.com.
I wonder if there's any possibility to sync orba with another hardware synths or grooveboxes?
Oh, yes: ua-cam.com/video/tF9RIBNT8Kc/v-deo.html
There is! You can send MIDI from Orba to your hardware synths using a USB to MIDI host. I'll link to our video on how to do this here: ua-cam.com/video/tF9RIBNT8Kc/v-deo.html
Can you play semitones with this instrument?
Yes, you can. 👍
@@Artiphon how? 🤷♂
@@Pictor13 Hi thee, ah, it looks like I was mistaken. You can play semitones with INSTRUMENT 1 but not Orba 2. I apologize for the confusion.
orba 2 is a synth or a midi?
Both! It's also a sampler.
Any chance an Android app for Orba 1 Synth editing will be coming?
Hi David, Orbasynth is available for desktop only at this time. We'd be sure to keep you in the loop if that changes.
Free lobotomy too
Can you record lead vocals on this via phone?
Yes! You can record and upload your own samples for Bass, Chord, and Lead mode.
What does "per-part quantization " mean?
Good question! "per-part quantization" means you can choose to quantize some parts and not others. For example, quantize your drum loop but not lead or other instruments.
I can use the Desktop App on my PC to tweak sounds on Orba 2, right?
Hi there, yes, Orba 2 is compatible with Orbasynth. 👍
Are these features coming to Orba 1? I'm guessing no. Orba 1 still crashes all the time. Fix your existing products before releasing more.
Keep an eye out for new features for Orba 1, we're committed to supporting Orba 1 in addition to Orba 2!
Orba 2 still crashing on me
Why can't I edit the drum with OrbaSinth? Can orba bluetooth be connected with Windows 10?
Hi Pieranna, at this time, Orbasynth is only available to edit Lead, Chord, and Bass parts. Unfortunately, Windows does not currently support MIDI over Bluetooth.
With orba can you make a loop and replicate it? Or with the 128 bars would you have to do 128 bars of drums?
Hi Oliver, while you can record songs up to 128 bars, if you play for, say, 8 bars and then hit A + REC, it will set your loop to be 8 bars long.
Qualcuno puo dirmi..
I love my orba, so this one has a mic?
Great question! Orba 2 does not have a built-in microphone, you'll use your phone or computer to record the samples, and then transfer them onto your Orba.
Wait so this works with the original Orba or there is a new device actually?
This is a new piece of hardware.
@@Artiphon This one can quantize so I’m assuming internals are different
@@SonicVibe That's right - we rebuilt the sound and synth engine from the ground up to support the new features. Great questions, all.
I what this so bad
A few questions, if anyone knows;
Do the tracks have independent volume controls?
Is there an asdr I the synth tracks?
Thank you
@@beckysantmarc muchas gracias! Vi tu video acerca de el Obrasynth y ahora todo esta súper claro. 🌌 🙏
@@Sineidal Me alegro de haber ayudado
What are the sample specs?
5min 128 bars old one 30 seconds 8 bars
Orba 2 can hold 2GB of user samples!

"Outside of DAW creations when used as a controller"
Actually not true....You can record Orba 1 as an instrument in any DAW... so you can create a loop and take it onboard GarageBand for example...

"I don't know a way to separate the layers doing that though that are on the orba such as drums, bass, chord, lead, "
I am certain that you can't divide the tracks once you've created a loop... Part of the reason I am using two Orbas is to have one in on one channel, the other on another.
It would be nice to export a loop as Midi Per Part as opposed to controlling that way.... that would allow us to save a loop into GgeBand, etc as four tracks that can then be tweaked!
Hi there! No additional MIDI instruments, but you can load any sample you like onto Orba 2!
I will NEVER support this garbage company
It's been 2 years and your app sucks a doesn't work
Hey there, what specific issues are you running into?
Ppl shouldn’t buy orb2 as Its such a waist of money buying a product you ks and then in a year they basically kick you in the teeth saying hey ks this now. Bs .
This is absolute trash dont buy and waste ur money...
The same shit as first one.
Plastic cheap toy.
Wtf is this thing
Orba 2 is a synth, looper, sampler, and MIDI controller. 😄
Well done Artiphon its a decent upgrade 👍
Now for my rant at the moaning loons as I do not understand the moaning nannies. A company makes an upgrade to their existing product range as do many others, and people just moan moan moan 🙄 Get over yourselves and if you can do better then you know what to do. Any sane business is not going to wait and wait then release their next product or product update and throttle any future sales growth, and yes they may have been promising to provide quantization and it did not happen - well this happens and especially in these uncertain times and smaller tech firms do not have those deep R&D pockets - so grow up people, so stop complaining and start playing!
moaning nanny here
they promised these features in the model we paid for.
You aren't reading carefully enough. And of course, you wouldn't want to because then you couldn't convince yourself of your devastating superiority. Seriously, are they loons or nannies? And please describe their moans, are they somehow different? Homeschooled much?
If you see the "moans" you mention more carefully, you will see that they complain about missing futures that was advertised it would be on the '1'.
Цікаво!
THIS AD NEEDS TO BE REMOVED!
THIS AD LIES! YOU _CANNOT_ SAMPLE ON THE FLY. YOU NEED THE APP. THE APP WILL MORE LIKELY _TWIST AND DISTORT_ WHAT YOU SAMPLED!!!
Hi Kerry, recorded samples are automatically adjusted by the app based on which key and mode you're in. You can adjust this by trying different keys and modes before saving the sample in the app!
