    If your dystonia makes it difficult to return to neutral after turning towards your 'strong' side, try these two strategies: 1) move from your neutral towards your weaker/difficult side and back and NOT into your spasm or pattern, and 2) Stay with my Part One exercises for longer as they will be easier to control. Thank you!

    As a person diagnosed with Cervical Dystonia I truly appreciate these videos. I went to a physical therapist who said he couldn’t help me, another one who tried dry needling that was extremely painful. I will take your advice on these at-home exercises! Thank you!

      @@vickya346 smashing it tbh. Still have 3 monthly Botox appointments. Movement is still bad but I'm doing way more than I was for a while. Back at the gym and lifting heavier than ever. Big DIY projects. Playing live shows everywhere with my band. Basically pulled myself out of the hole and have got on with it. After I got over the fact that I'm always going to have this condition, and that I'm always going to have some element of pain, things just started looking better. I can explain it any other way... I just started cracking on again!
      Interestingly, my younger brother has also been diagnosed with CD recently, though his presents with opposing rotations to mine! Super weird as not one other family member has got the condition.

    Thank you for showing us the exercises. I would like to know when doing de neck exercises, how many times do you have to repeat de exercise? E.g. look each way and repeat 5 times. After nearly 6 years of pain and stiffness in the neck, i am will to try to do these exercises. The only treatment offered to me by the neurologist is Botox injections in the neck to relax the neck muscle. I dont want anything injected in me and am willing to try your exercises. Thank you .

      Ja Sam imala Botox, nije lose a nije ni dobro.Nemam vec godinu dana...
      Radim razne vezbe i uzimam nesto za smirenje, pod stresom je jos Gore.
      Primetila sam kad igram, Uz muziku da je puno bolje, to sam videla na jednom videu Ma UA-cam
      Svega po malo i bice bolje ..
      Nadamo se da ce doci i lek za to

    Hi, I have cervical dystonia. Thank you so much for the exercises. When I rotate my head to the left it clicks, but not when I rotate to the right. What do you think is going on there? Also should exercises be done daily ideally?

      Thank you for watching! I would recommend a 2 to 3 week trial of the exercises 2 to 3 times daily and adjust up or down from there based on response

    This is great. My Dystonia is really bad and out of control when I am walking. How can I walk in a straight line without my neck pulling my head to the left side. It is so difficult for me to walk as I find it hard to focus, keep my balance, not bang into things. Also extremely hard walking up and down stairs. Would appreciate any advice as life is extremely tiring and painful with this condition. I have been having Botox injections but these don’t seem to do much.

      I sympathize. Have been taking Botox since last year, 4 lots of doses so far, and haven't noticed any change for the better. Very frustrating. Apparently, it is possible to develop resistance to Botox, which is disappointing to hear. Good luck: your condition sounds difficult to live with.

      Hi there I want to know how much unit of Botox injection you tried that did not work for you ? Is it still the same now or has your doctor pushed more units of Botox ? Are there any improvements or not at all?

      @@kaveribanerjee124 I have been receiving 200 units of Botox for a year with my current neurologist. No improvement. Getting worse. Doctor agrees yet will not increase standard 200 unit dosage. Have made the request on the last two visits. Referred to tertiary care 60 miles away

      ​@@kaveribanerjee124I get 400 units of botox which is the highest they go for cervical dystonia I was told. I have been having injections for 7 years. I think they started out with 300 something but soon went to 400 units. It gives me so much relief and feel no more pain, but still cannot hold my head up good. It tilts to my right shoulder, but turns toward the left. Neurologists don't give ideas for exercises, so hopefully these videos will help strengthen my neck. I sometimes will skip botox to give myself a break, but I'm always sorry and can feel pain and hard contractions again. I just don't like botulism injected into me so often. I worry about long term effects. I still work 40 hrs a week, and I'm now on my feet all day. I did sit at a desk all day and think that it makes me worse.

    Great stuff! Any advice on how to make this exercises happen with elder population who has difficulty to move in general and spend majority of the time in a wheelchair?

    Thank you! I had a rollover car accident in 2011 and then re-injured my next three years ago and it’s never been the same! This looks like the most practical and gentle exercises.
    How do you feel about cervical traction devices? Are there any that you would recommend?

      thx for watching! i do use cervical traction and the device I use is the Saunder's ComforTrac unit. I can usually find a used one on Ebay for less with a little research.

    Hi! What exercises do you have when there is tremor involved and makes it difficult to even try to roll the head back and forth. I need help! Years of Botox Injections as well as Baclophen (muscle relaxant) has done absolutely nothing to help me.

    Hi Burke! I want to start an exercise program using this 2 part exercise for cervical dystonia. Will you tell me how many reps of each that I should do. I assume it would be a daily thing? Maybe 2 times a day? Pleas let me know what you recommend?

      Hello! Do these twice daily, however many repetitions you can do with good control and form, even if your range of motion is initially quite small - it's critical to move slowly with as good control as you can, and less important initially to go very far into your range of motion - that will come over time. Rep range could be anywhere from 3 to 15 or even 20 if your control is good. Good luck!

    What if there's a lot of pain and cracking in neck and head when you press against something..I get clicking sound in my ears and head too

    Good night, im maría , i have dystonia Cervical since 4 years. This year my My symptoms got worst. I noticed my neck turned a little more to the left and I have 5 spasms in a day. Can I improve with this? Do you recommend atlas prophylaxis or is it dangerous ? million thanks and kisses from Spain!! Have you personal training from video calls?

      hello and thx for watching! Dystonia is complicated enough that it'd be hard for me to say, but I always recommend doing the exercises to hopefully prevent things for continuing to worsen. Atlas treatments with trained providers can relieve symptoms temporarily for some but I haven't personally seen it lessen the overall condition. Good luck!

    Good evening, i have cervikale dystonie. But when I turn my head right in the exercise, its difficult to turn It back. Because I have spasm. What can I do? Thank you

      Thanks for your question. For severe dystonia symptoms including difficulty with returning to neutral, start by only moving against your pattern towards the weaker side to avoid getting overpowered and stay with the earlier exercises from Part One.       @@focusrehab You wrote, "Start by only moving against your pattern towards the weaker side." What does this mean? Can you explain more? How can I know which is the weaker side? For example, my neck pulls my face right, and I have great difficulty getting it left.

    Doctor am dealing with cervical dystonia been going for botox still no improvement ,shall I settle for surgery or keep excercising ,however would there be a chance for it to diminish entirely if i stick to your excercices ?

    What's cervical dystonia? I get pain on my trapezius muscles and neck sometimes I feel like a tense feeling in my trap and neck muscles I try to massage it it helps temporary but mainly it's my quadriceps tendonitis that's making me miserable, it's been more than 3 months now and this injury still won't heal
    I started using icy Hot and massage is there anything I can do to speed up the healing process for quadriceps tendonitis? I need to get back to doing squats and lunches every time I do a squat it hurts on my quads right above my knee

      Hi Pippy, Dystonia is a neuromuscular condition that causes unintended movement, tremors, spasms and pain in the neck muscles. I am sorry to hear about your knee - i will try to put a quad tendonitis video together soon. Hang in there!

      @@focusrehab oh that's what dystonia is, thank goodness I don't have that but I do perform neck exercises, oh that would be so awesome a video on quadriceps tendonitis will be super helpful I got to get my quads healed as soon as possible because I have osteoporosis but I'm treating it naturally with healthy diet supplements and exercise from what I've learned squats lunges and deadlifts are the best exercises for building bone density in the lower body but my injury is stopping me from getting back into my bone building exercises, I developed quadriceps tendonitis because I started doing plyometrics and jumping exercises but I wasn't doing proper technique I was jumping very intense in landing very hard I started developing pain but I kept pushing through the pain because I was so focused on building bone density since I learned that jumping can also stimulate bones , eventually the pain got so much so I stopped jumping in late June of this year since then I haven't done squats and lunches I've only been working on the hip flexor exercises but those are not enough for stimulating bone density,
      Thank you so much I'll definitely keep an eye for that video, I've heard quadricep injuries are very common among athletes, even though I'm not an athlete I do live a healthy lifestyle with exercise, I've been injured before but this is the worst injury I've ever had
