Wonderful conversation. I play this piece and one way to get it good is to feel your body and mind moving to the rhythm. Then it will be transmitted to the listener. Listen to Pernambuco playing it years ago with his Brazilian group. With that rhythm you can not go wrong. Playing it slower and then faster in the same presentation makes it nice. I find these famous player, play it too fast and I think ruin the beauty.

Thanks for posting. Always a little more tricky coaching somebody who has some knowledge and maybe a little set in their ways. (I say this as a tennis coach of many years). Brave man Don, for stepping up and being prepared to put yourself in the firing line.

Thanks for posting ! Found it really helpful! Also got me thinking about my right hand. So true that we tend to concentrate on the left!

Try playing it as a waltz. It is a fun challenge. I find that changing the time signature can lead the variation to new ideas.
