Hell yeah brother! This had a Borla on it but the straight pipe in person just sounds truly orgasmic. Although I agree You simply can not beat the tone that the Borla produces. It’s beyond sensational.
Same, but now with the rs6 downpipes and those half mid pipes the only really work with ssac stuff I’ll have to do some custom work with a 2.5 3 y pipe to keep that 3 to the borla. I think I’ll just keep the open midpipes for a while. I imagine based on my old vrt open this will be the result if i leave it alone since it’s not a daily anymore.

really depends on what you’re looking to get out of the car man. If I was going daily driver, stock for stock I’d probably go G37. If you’re going for power, I’d go N55.
I've had 4 B5 S4's and 1 B5 RS4 of my own - between my father and I we've had 12 of them - The reason a lot of people will say B5s aren't reliable is because nobody ever builds them correctly or knows how to take care of them right. I've had 700 whp with zero maintenance issues within the 3 years i owned it (actually i broke my axles but they needed upgraded anyways) I've also owned one that's chewed through 5 alternators in a year because of how terribly it was maintenced (Don't buy a Santorini Blue one, always bad luck) But my honest opinion is that the 335i n55 and g37 coupe don't even come close to affording the luxury of being put up against a B5 in any category. I own a B5 S4 and while I appreciate the sound and all and bet it's a blast to drive - yeah, it's really annoying for the neighbors. Going overboard in my opinion with straight pipes are part of what cause people to complain to their lawmakers and eventually get annoying laws passed that make it harder to modify our cars. So while I applaud your interest in your car, B5 S4s, and the fun you're having, ultimately I think it can hurt the enthusiast community.
Having a loud, good sounding Car is cool, but revving the shit out of it in the neighborhood is just stupid, unnecessary and annoying, especially when your engine and turbo is cold, have fun replacing them
Mine is straight piped as well. The video doesn’t do it justice. Turbocharger sound bouncing off houses, buildings, or simply going under an overpass. There’s nothing like it. People that know will give it second look or ask you to rev it. Other than that ..... it goes under the radar.

I have an 01 in Casablanca, that being said... They sound terrible. Just like every other V6. I6 can sound good-ish, flat 6 especially the a GT3 sound amazing.

What did you do about the o2 sensors? I know straight pipes fuck with the cat o2 sensors on these cars a lot.
Make a bung by stacking 2 spark plug defoulers and drilling the bottom out. Thread into the cat and put the o2 in the top.
