@@kettnercreative Question... Are you familiar with running multi audio interfaces simultanuosly within a DAW through the Aggregate option in your Audio MIDI Setup (Mac)? If so, will the MG10XU be detected as another "audio interface" through the Mac? I haven't had a chance to try it out myself, but I was wondering if you ever tried it.
HI, great video, thanks for sharing, this is a nice machine, I've been using it for over 2 years for singing small venues over pre-recorded music tracks. Do you happen to know how I could get a nice video using this, along w/ my iphone for a video reel I could make, for a demo? Any help I'm very grateful for, Lenny
This mixing console is more than enough to make professional sounding music. It's that good. Super clean pre amps with great clean output and perfect USB recording ability.I would also recommend Behringer XR 18 for multi channel recording. It's my next purchase and it's compact as well.
Bro thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m new to using mixers and bought this one specifically cuz you can use your iPad with it but couldn’t figure the whole setup out. Liked and subscribed! Thanks again!
I was about to plump for that TASCAM model 12 ….. and then I saw this…I already have a Yamaha ag03 and it was EXCELLENT !!! I do like that the TASCAM can be used as as daw controller as well as MTR and AI…. EXCELLENT TUTORIAL ..
I love the MG12XU because it has faders, clear and bright on/off switches for each channel and it has an audition button for each channel so you can set the gain for each channel without raising the main volume to 0. And it has a more accurate volume meter with more notches. And it doesn't need an external power brick because it's built in and the panel is at a nice angle because it's tilted.

Thanks for the video - I was hoping for the next step where you lay down another track while monitoring the first two on the DAW via the desk - is that because the MG10XU can't work that way? (I want to work out if I can get away without having a separate interface for DAW recording)
Hello, and thank you for your good and nice explanations, i have question please, if you could explain how we multi record from Keyboard workstation avoiding duplicate record track. Thank you .
Yeah that’s disappointing- i purchased this without checking further- I was expecting at least 4 inputs but to know only captures 2 is a serious bummer.. I have a tiny usb interface that can do that job.
The interface is just for recording the stereo mix / 2 ch out of the mixer (whether youre mixing all 10 chs or less) , most lower end mixers have this functionality with usb. To have a multitrack recording mixer where it can record more than 2 tracks at a time you're looking at quadruple the price easily. If you only do home recordings by yourself, this mixer is an excellent choice but if you're a band wanting to track live, this isn't a good option.
Hey, I have the Yamaha USB Mixer MG10XU. I have a DJ controller setup and a turntable setup that I want to use with an audio mixer. I have been looking for videos to make sure everything is corrected right. Would the way you are explaining in the video work or can you make a video showing how this can be done?
Hi. I don't have the usb connector cord that goes from my mixer to my ipad. What do you actually call this cord so I can buy one. Thank you! Great video!
I regularly use MG10XU as my single interface device, for recording bamboo flute on Cubase. All Mixer settings done exactly as you explained (except that I always do a single track recording). Only difference I do is that I open the channel 9/10 and use it for real time monitoring via the Phones output. Also I use a condenser mic instead of a dynamic one. Now, I find a couple of issues with this. 1. The output is too silent for my DAW (always it's below -23dB fs). I raise it using the clip-gain on the DAW, but I know that's only a work-around 2. The sound quality is not good. Not sure it's a mic issue (I use a good quality one - Blue Baby Bottle condenser mic). Any valuable thoughts?
I guess I found out something. Panning is critical even for a single track recording. Without panning the sound quality is much worse (at least the case with flute) and it clips easily. My recordings are much better with the track panned (and thus forced to be real mono). Thanks a ton !
Hello, What is dynamic recording range? Can I use it in professional studio recording? For example, is there much difference compared to Motu M4? Thanks

This is great and all, but is there any way to listen to the first two tracks while recording a 3rd and 4th? I keep getting audio from previous tracks on new recorded tracks
Hi Jordan, that was excellent and I do want to have that mixer. The only question is, can you connect two active 12" speaker to hear the recording? Thank you.
Good video...but I was thinking: I have a Moog Werkstatt and just got an Arturia MicroFreak plus the Yamaha MG10XU and a Steinberg UR22C Audio Interface. For the 2 synths do I just pick and choose what is recorded? I also noticed my Werkstatt sounds Mono when running straight to the Audio Interface...any way to make it sound like its Stereo? Sorry...Newbie...😅
Is it possible to have one microphone connected for live streaming video game being captured through a elgato capture card connected to that mixer and have two separate controls for the same microphone? So one volume control would be for you to hear yourself at a lower volume and the other control would be for your stream’s volume? Single mic two volume controls one for you one for them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I understand that you can record two inputs. Can you record the stereo output of all the mics being used on the mixer? Can it be recorded as a stereo pair via USB?
"stereo pair via usb" that's a combined question. The usb will output a stereo signal no matter the inputs. If you pan the inputs, you can turn this mixer into a multi-track ...outputter, for lack of a better word (it's not a recorder) ...as in a 2 track recorder. However you pan the inputs will be sent via stereo out. This thing is a ...what...10? input device? 10 input 2 output. 10 in MIXER...2 output...left and right.
I learned some valuable information here, thanks. However, what I was searching UA-cam for was for a different kind of multi-tracking. I want to record music adding one layer at a time, but I need to be able to hear the computer output in headphones without them recording them a second time. For the first track, I would need to be able to hear a click track. This would be best if I could have the headphones from the mixer so that the computer and its fan are at the other end of the room. I have not been able to work out or find out how to do this yet.
You can do that with the Yamaha. Press the USB button on channel 9/10. Leave the second button up on 9/10 and the click track will only come to your headphones.
Is there an equalizer software that I can download on my laptop or iPad and connected to this mixer so that way I can eliminate any unwanted frequencies furthermore while singing through that process?
when im tracking guitar using amp sim in the DAW, i hear both raw guitar signal and processed guitar signal, how can I mute the raw signal and just hear the amp simulated computer audio?
If you can only use two inputs (mics), might as well just use an interface. I’d like to use 3 mics but I guess that’s not possible with a multi channel mixer 🤔
how about the stereo outputs- cannot capture simultaneously? I was hoping at least 2 channels plus stereo out. I purchased this hoping I can capture 4 channels at least :(

Ohh looks like I can't really use this for my drum covers recording? planning on using this for a 4 mic setup(Recorderman 2 overheads, 1 snare mic and 1 bassdrum mic) I want to use accurate stereo imaging on the Recorder Man overhead mics. Looks like its impossible for this console?
Okay.... here's my little problem. We have a band. We're about to do a pre production using this very same console I just bought. I'd like to be able to record all three miked up guitars (2 string and one bass), and all four drum cylinders (using the XLR inputs). Can this be done ? With each a separate track ? Thanks a million to anyone out there who can answer me. Especially the Kettner creative guy. I'm wondering if there's a way for the guitars to be recorded with the 1/4 jacks in the top middle part, while also playing full blast.
Is it possible to connect a guitar to the mixer and then use the speakers that are plugged into the computer as speakers? and then use an amp sim program like Amplitube?
Just to make absolutely sure: The Yamaha has 4 XLR/line inputs and an extra 6 line only inputs. Is it then possible to plug in, for example, 4 mics in the XLRs and guitar and bass in 2 of the 6 line inputs and finally, two keyboards with stereo out to the additional 4 line ins, pan them all and have Garageband pick them up as 10 separate channels?
From what I've understood: your DAW will always only pick up 2 incoming channels (Left + Right), and it is from the mixer that you'll define which physical channels are routed to OUT Left or OUT Right. But to be clear, incoming Left channel will be a single audio track made of the mix of everything you panned Left, and incoming Right channel will be a single audio track made of the mix of everything you panned Right. There's no way you can send more than 2 single tracks to your DAW, using these not-multitrack USB audio mixers (Yamaha, Mackie, Soundcraft, Behringer, etc.). Some recommend the Tascam multitrack range, or the Behringer UFX range.

Thanks for all the helpful videos. I want to connect my iPad (lightning connection) to my MG10XU and then to my laptop to record with Audacity. What cable do I need to send music from the iPad to the mixer and where do I plug it in? Thanks!
I need help with my Yahama MG10XUF. I’m trying to use it to record audio(microphone, etc) and I set up my mixer with fl studio 20. On fl studio I select audio settings and chose ASIO 128samples rate. So far everything good. I open a beat on fl and also do all the channeling to get ready to record. I’m able to record e all of that but Now my issue is that I want to know how can I record vocals on my microphone and mute the monitors while recording? I’m not sure if the mixer can do it or if I need to choose any option on the daw. Can you help? The only work around i found Is to turn down the monitors volume knob on the back while recording because mixer does not have any button to lower Monitors volume.
If I wanted to send 4 mics from my mixer to my interface then to my DAW, would I only be able to make two channels left and two channels right? Or is there a way to get the 4 different signals on 4 different tracks on my DAW?
Thanks but feels like i bought wrong mixer. I got 6 synths and a rx11 drum machine to attach to this. Idea was so i didn't have to keep unplugging everything and i coild just move from one thing to another. I will be using 1 mic though
Does the same approach apply if you were going to use a keyboard? I was not able to get the best audio output after recording a track following the manual. I also had high levels of hissing that could be heard through my headphones.

Hi! I've been using my dynamic mic and the background noise is really zero when i use it with my creative soundcard. But when i used my MG10XU, the background noise is really high. Are there any ways for me to decrease the background noise?
Great video Sir! Question for you: I'm subbing 2 mixers into one main by linking mixer 1 into mixer 2 then to my main console. Is it possible to come from the xlr outputs on mixer 1 and 2 then the usb output on the main to my ZOOM 16 track recorder for more tracks? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jordan... Can i do multi track recording in Mixcraft Daw software through MG10XU?

Thank you so much bro😘
How about record Multi-Track 6 Channels to DAW?
Thanks for all the helpful videos.
I want to connect my iPad (lightning connection) to my MG10XU and then to my laptop to record with Audacity.
What cable do I need to send music from the iPad to the mixer and where do I plug it in? Thanks!
I would use a headphone to dual 1/4" jack. Something like this: geni.us/5aCz to go from your headphone jack into line 5/6 of your mixer.
@@kettnercreative Got it. Thanks very much.
The only work around i found Is to turn down the monitors volume knob on the back while recording because mixer does not have any button to lower Monitors volume.
thanks for the vid ma
is there any problem with Buffer size espascialy with DAW?
i want to use life autotune i nthe trackchain and other Effects
if you use more than 3 channels in the mixer, how does the mixer decide on what channels go to which channel in the DAW?
It’s always the main stereo output, but you can cheat the system by panning any two channels left/right if you’re not using other channels
Hello Jordan!
I speak from brazil. Tks by your video. I have one question, What program do you used for record the audio in video presented.
I typically use GarageBand or Logic Pro
Hello, can we record in computer separate track per channel?? Or just one track channel only, i have plan to buy this for recording a full band
If I wanted to send 4 mics from my mixer to my interface then to my DAW, would I only be able to make two channels left and two channels right? Or is there a way to get the 4 different signals on 4 different tracks on my DAW?
You would need a digital mixer to send all four tracks.
Which software you suggest for Windows to do the same?
Do you need a driver for you mac computer??
