I saw ike and tina turner in st charles mo. at a penny arcade the admission to get in was 35 cents. I was 14 years old they were traveling in a caddilac and all thier gear was in the trunk of that car.This was in1960 and they were based in st louis and I heard this same song then a very long time ago.I think they were great then and still do now. one of the great rock and rollers of all time.
I saw Ms. Tina when she did this concert in Houston. This was her victory lap before retiring to her Swiss mansion. Yes, it was written by her abuser but she walked out on him. After that she was in Tommy, headlined for The Rolling Stones and built a solo career that is second to none. I thought she was singing with joy when I saw her dancing in those five inch heels. It was a happy concert. She is a picture of a woman who overcame. Ike was a loser who never recovered once word got out about how he treated Tina. Karma wasn't kind to Ike.
