Bionic was a solid album that was ahead of its time. And maybe Xtina's management, or herself, was discouraged because of the negative publicity it's getting because this album was released in the wrong time, honestly, with all the craze about Lady Gaga, etc etc. Lol.

Everything about it was ahead of its time, see: the cover (lady gaga had herself portrayed as half a motorcycle and half a person some time later), the clothing (how many people in 2010 were already rocking leggings with shirt? Now everybody does), the sound (basically anticipated the early 2010s sound)... Only thing she didn't understand was that nowadays nobody gives a shit about albums anymore, so she counted more on the whole album than on singles (she released this song in august, like... hello?? do you know the pop industry?) but this era was soooo great and maybe the last one with her vocals on top of her game. If she tried to sing this song today it would be a total mess.

The reason Lady Gaga started getting notice in the US is because the press compared her to Xtina. Then as Christina released Bionic the press just kept bringing up Gaga. She was going through a rough period, getting a divorce and one day she just cracked. She said "I'm not even sure if that's a guy or a girl..." She was just tired and being catty, but it turned the whole gay community against her for a second... Ok, not everyone, but it soiled her with the press. The guy who owned Gaga at the time, Akon saw this and jumped on, making a point to actually destroy Bionic's airplay. Gaga knew a little, which is why she publicly apologized recently. The music business is a vicious and shady business. Bionic is a great album. Woohoo should have been a monster!! She was on Sia and Nicki Minaj way before anyone else.
