There are exceptionally sound technical singers who don't tell a story, for example back ground or voice over singers who are literally pitch perfect. Entertainers and narrators are examples story tellers. That's where storytelling takes precedence.

I wouldn't call it "unfair" because it's the public that makes someone popular. And although the "lip sync artists" usually have less talent, they are commercially successful due to their (or their management's) sense of what's considered HOT at the moment. People like Christina often want to showcase their vocal abilities and their range in their songs and don't focus on the catchy vibe that makes everybody dance, thus they don't sell as much.

It’s so sad how you never get SINGERS like this anymore on the award shows. I would have felt out of place sitting in the audience watching her after my mediocre over the top performance. I mean kudos to all the entertainers but man this is talent! Her voice is so pure and she sings from a place of truth, vulnerability, and really means what she sings. Even the imperfections are perfect in a weird way. Her voice is so soft and silky and warm and then can get up there and pierce your heart with love and happiness.

And then Perez Hilton was spreading a gossip and accusing that Christina is copying Gaga.
Arga Satria To add onto it - Gaga tagged along with that Perez drama during the time and it practically sabotaged the entire Bionic era. It became the 2nd most illegally downloaded album that year due to people not wanting to support Bionic. Recently Gaga addressed it and noted the childish behavior and apologized but still... The damage from 2010-2012 Bionic and Lotus really killed Christina’s commercial success.

Christina has never really cared for the 'popularity' she has always remained humble to who she is and has always stayed grounded and authentic to herself, and has never forgotten that music and her voice are her gift to the world and she will never deny us of it and will even teach others with what she can. Ugh she is in my opinion one of the last great voices of our time, she is the only one from her era to maintain her vocals so well and not dipped into the auto tune bag. I just love, adore and admire her ten fold. I feel it is almost criminal she has not received any icon or vanguard award, her contribution to music and the industry is incredible. However i don't she is too bothered by awards anymore, she is just out here doing her thing and unapologetic for the genuine incredible talented soul she is. Beauty and 'The Voice' personified.

She sat through almost 2hrs at that show listening to horrendous performances and she knew what she had to do to save the AMAS and bring some life to that crowd.
