I was born when this show began. Had to wait till I got older to find the series. I don't think there is anything out there in these modern times like allo allo.
Why is everyone forgetting Rose Hill? She was the best of the bit. Though in the late 70s and still having the notch of brilliant acting and with a youthful twitch that many grannys miss so dearly.
Rest in peace Gorden Kaye. Hugely underrated actor and by all accounts a jolly decent man. Dad and I saw the stage show in Blackpool in 1990 a few months after the big storm when he nearly died. What no one knew that day, was that it was his first day back in the stage show. When he walked out on the stage there was a huge cheer from the crowd. Thank you for entertaining us all.
If I had only been alive when this show first aired. I love what this show gave to me and how wonderful the actors and actresses are. Nostalgic and heartwarming.
I remember the series being broadcasted on national tv in Mauritius back in the 90's,Unfortunately I was busy with high school studies and could not watch the episodes which aired at night. I'm glad I could find the videos and I watched all the episodes after almost 15 year gap. so much fun ..
Fantastic. The series was brilliant at the time and has lost nothing over the years. I still enjoy watching it on DVD and UA-cam. I saw the show live in London some years ago with Gorden Kaye, Richard Gibson and other brilliant cast members. I remember tears running down my face with laughter and was amazed at how well Richard Gibson played the violin. It was unfortunate that Sam Kelly, Jack Haig, Gavin Richards and Richard Gibson were not able to appear in the entire 9 series as they made their respective parts unforgettable and impossible for the replacement actors to emulate, even though each is a fine actor in his own right. I find it hard to pick a 'favourite' character from such a huge pool of talent but if I had to I would probably go for Arthur Bostram's 'Officer Crabtree'. But, there were no bad actors OR characters and I would like to thank each and every one of them, as well as the writers, for the enjoyment they brought, and continue to bring, me.
i'm from holland, we we dutch loved it like no other country outside the uk, and that is because we are the only country who uses subtitles and keep the original voices, and besides that, we dutch understand and speak english very well, so we do understand the french accent and we do understand the language that crabtree uses, so ti's double the fun for us, and that's why i can't understand why other countries liked this show, because i can't imagine that it would sounds funny when, for example, a french men put a british accent to it, because that's ruins the whole joke. Anyway, i love britain for it's dry sense of humor and also their good taste of music, because the best singers and bands come from the UK for sure.
I watched it in Italian and I just can say: it WAS very funny :-D! In my opinion, the translators and the dubbing actors made an impressive work, managing to preserve the personality of the characters and their humor :-D. Crabtree's funny lines were definitely sooooo funny !! The dubbing actors had a voice that perfectly fitted to the characters. I think that once you've used to a language/voice and if the dubbing is well done, it's just "normal" and obvious that they talk like they do. Moreover, great thanks to the different persons who posted all the Allo Allo episodes and the "Return Of" :-D !! 30 years after, I still love this Brit-com !
RIP Kenneth Connor and Carmen Silvera. I can't tell how many times I watched these 2 great actors and laughed ny head off. Kenneth Connor played a part far superior to his Carry On films and Carmen has to be a one time phenomenon. Her cabaret singing esp. where she sings under (?) Toscanini has to be one of TV's finest moments. Both priceless!
Radiovarietyshow He must've been over 70.I'll never forget that scene where he and Carmen S. are sitting down to a tete a tete supper. Alphonse asks:"Do you have any pepper?"Carmen answers:"Yes, the allied troops are advancing..."(As if it were some part of a secret code)I was chuckling to myself for hours afterwards.Wish I could remember which episode it was.
Its the wonder my box set still plays its been on that many times. Love 'allo 'allo , very funny indeed " I will say this only once " Brilliant, brilliant (sorry thats twice )
Właśnie to oglądam, przypomniało mi się jak Rodszyldowie podczas wojen napoleońskich nakręcali panikę, że Anglia przegrała pod waterloo, żeby przejąć Bank Angli
one of my fav British sitcom but they could have talked a little bit more about Carmen or about Kenneth Connor, I didn't seem to see one clip with him and he was the funniest.
Rene would NEVER say " You stupid woman!" to Yvette, Edith his old wife YES! But Yvette NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS! and why the F... did Rene never marry Yvette they loved eachother deeply. at the ending of the series He and Yvette elope to Spain to get married...

They are also forgetting Roger leclec the 1st leclerc, as Ernest is his brother.

You know they're both dead right? Was probably too hard for them to talk about it
