- CNUR 7 on the Wabash Central Railroad works between Bluffton and Warren Indiana. The train went west with a airslide buffer car, pulled 5 tank cars out of storage and shoved them east.

WABASH!! I enjoy videos of all things Indiana. I was born in Indianapolis.🙂
You and your helper do very nice work. I could watch this all day.
Thank you
It always amazes me when old tracks desperately in need of service, can still carry a load without failing. Love trains, we need more!
Beautiful photography, even the fields are near with perfect rows while the engine and its one beat up boxcar plod along.
Enjoyed watching! Thanks for taking the time to film.
Thank you!
When I heard the "back up beeper" as the locomotive was backing into the siding to fetch the tank cars, I briefly thought "when did they start making locomotives have those"?? Ha Ha, then it became apparent the audio was not associated with the drone shot. Great timing though. Had me going there for a few seconds. Great drone footage as usual. Great trestle shot too.
Wait why did he splice in that sound? It doesn't fit
@@entertainme7523 I think the audio is recorded from his static position at a grade crossing while he flies the Drone since the Drone can't capture audio.
Very nicely done. Excellent drone camera work and dubbed sound Bravo.
Easily the best train footage Ive ever seen on UA-cam
Outstanding drone footage. Very cool to see you sharing your experience with your son. He will remember it forever
It's the Western Combination, it's The Wabash Cannonball! 😊
Beautiful farm country! Excellent drone footage!
Thanks Scott - another fascinating view of micro lines almost merged into the landscape. Drone views are superb.
I love the between the tree roads and rails in the middle of rural areas. Very old school.
No not you
there's something satisfying about watching a loco have it's own line to trundle up and down with rolling stock (not 30+ cars)
Agreed.
Wow, this railroad has really made improvements to the rail track over the years compared to previous videos
I love the sound of emd power. The camera work is first rate! Watching these geeps soldier on, and on a honest to goodness short line. 6 axle unit to boot. Mind blown.
Its soo cool to see tracks that u would never think of as being used. Being used !
Very well done. Pretty countryside too.
Awesome picture central illinois one locomotive and box car reverse back pick up the rest of the cars on the track bless you friend stay safe
Love these small lines and the classic power to be found on them. Great video thanks for sharing
Nice !!!!
Wonderful piece of video. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you for watching
Very cool shots with the drone! There is something majestic about the track condition with a slow haul.
Thank you!!
Oooh I love that P3.
Great video...very good drone footage too
Another great video! Forget about the train, I don't think I'd even want to WALK across that bridge...Yikes!
Great video Scott!!
Thank you
Very enjoyable. Especially liked the ending seeing you and your son. God bless!
Thank you!
Hi Scott. Just came across this! Lovely bit of filming, sad to see such an old engine in need of a good polish! Loved the scenery, long way from York, England though! You take care, and look after your Key Grip.
Thanks so much for your time in making me feel so happy watching this. Great job!!!!
Thank you for watching
Great drone work. You have become really skilled. This adds another dimension to train watching with coverage in areas not normally visible.
Who knows how much longer this railroad will last
I heard that backup beeper and thought to myself damn a locomotive with a backup beeper. And then my face really lit up when I heard the jake break !🤣
Also flange scrape and other surface noises were canned in from the drone view
Awesome video. I love all the drone footage, it makes the video so much better than just ground video. Also I like videos of shoreline railroads.
Reminds me of old time railroading. That loco looks a lot like the one that was used in the movie "Runaway Train"
Outstanding drone shots here. Simply magnificent.
That engine is like a railroad ‘Christine!”
Or the truck in the movie, Dual!
Wow, I haven't heard such a clear-sounding Nathan P3 horn in quite a while. I remember the sound of that horn being common in the Sacramento, CA area before 1996.
I used to go to Berne quite often from central Illinois for a major project I was doing in the big Mennonite Church there 20 years ago. I’ve been both through Warren and Bluffton many times! Thanks for sharing this!
Other than the noisy maneuvering train, that beautiful agricultural landscape is worth watching, so thank you.
Looks like this train line has seen better days.
Great video as always. Liked seeing this line being filmed.
Awesome!! Thanks for posting!!
Very good video, enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! Reminded me of Iowa and the mid west. Great shots. Thanks for the vid. It's inspiration for my R.R.
Love this new drone footage from you!
Nice drone cam work! You've got a really steady hand!
Very nice video. Thank you. And Indiana is beautiful indeed. I miss the Midwest 🙂
Thank you
Excellent drone work. Much appreciated.
That was great! Really liked the waves good by at the end.
Huge fan of that P3
Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching
your video quality is amazing
Great production. Like a movie!
Great video. I can't get enough short line footage
I'd love to walk that track and see a train. Thanks for sharing.
I love the videos.... keep'em coming....
Awesome video, Scott, as always.
Thank you Drew!
I would love to see the word "Wabash" on that GP11 :) Great drone work!
Great catch!!!!
I love your videos 😊
nice video
New Zealand has locomotives built by GE Canada from 1960s operating on mainline and some locos from the 50s. They just work.
That was cool
Nice work with the Mavic 2 Pro. I need to think of getting mine airborne again! :D
Well there's a thing. The things you can find in the out-of-the-way corners.
That's some very interesting equipment they have at that farm place.
Will you be posting an update on the ND&W's track rehab project?
Very nice, well done.
Very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed
Thank you
Great job Scott! The camera drone gives us views not available in the past. I hope the new administration will pay more attention to short line railroad's infrastructure decay.
The new administration will what?
Very cool! Drone👍👍😎👍 Subbed.
Great drone shots, Scott ! The tracks are weedy but actually don't seem that bad; not much rolling and rocking.
New sub here. I love it.
Great video of a locomotive I have done work on. The location where the train is passing a fertilizer company is called Buckeye Indiana. I am pretty sure that hopper is going to the popcorn plant.
I'm very shocked to see a locomotive that is over 70 years old that still works!
Near me proctor and gamble has a similar GP unit that's pushing 70. It's mainly used for in plant switching and unloading corn syrup.
Nice video!
Summer 1978, we make our first trip to Illinois to photo trains. We are near Gilman,Ill and 2 trains are parked on the main(no crew either train!)waiting to go north.
6 Geeps,,,7s and 9s. some rebuilt, some not.
What was fantastic was a single GP7 that was unrebuilt and still in black paint with the green diamond.
Even at this late date to find black Geeps on ICG was getting scarce. (not counting the black GP40s which were more common.)
Now thats what i call Through the weeds!
Awesome video... The one crossing with the lights and bell, did it even activate?
Saw the blockage at the bridge and thought of Post 10.
You make great videos. Wondering what those tank cars may have been carrying? Is that a propane company or maybe fertilizer? Curious. Thanks.
Beater Locomotive but still cool!
Yes! Only you and I mentioned the rat rod look!
That old rickety track looks like the only thing that is holding it together is the dirt the ties are all rotten.
Woah did they change the horn. Last time I heard it, it sounded different!
Those old Geeps just keep burbling on. I think if the C&NW had avoided being bought out by the UP, we would still see them occasionally leading on the main line.
Great video! How many customers are there on this line and are there any new businesses or industries thinking about or planning to build here?
I live very close to this line, actually halfway between Warren and Bluffton. I know that they were servicing the grain bin in Warren and that was probably their biggest customer. It looks like Scott took this video early this spring but since then the grain bin got into some trouble and went bankrupt. I think they are still making the run because I heard them about 2 weeks ago so maybe the grain bin is back again.
They did I have a few other customers but there are not many chances for new ones. I hope they can hang on. There is some significant history that will fade away if this small line is scrapped. I actually came across a ball peen hammer with N.K.P.R.R stamped into it from this line and donated it to the museum in Bluffton. Not much but still history.
@@redwire2364 Alot of these guys seem to manage with very low traffic - its a wonder how they manage
@@danielnarevich7579 I agree. I did hear them this past week end but I'm not certain if they were servicing the grain bin or just moving cars in and out of storage. Either way they are still holding on. They also used to service Weaver Popcorn in Van Buren but I believe they have since abandoned that section of the line. I would like to learn more of their current situation but my current job has me away from home quite a bit.
I heard Weaver might be building a new plant just west of I 69 in Van Buren.
*Nice footage. On a side note, can anyone explain the economics of these lines putting together and hauling such small trains? How much are they making per car/run on average (sorry, I don't know the correct name of the metrics).*
Many of these short lines are owned by the counties and towns they run through. This relieves them of the property taxes and other taxes by which railroad businesses all too often are made unprofitable.
Could be deadheading, returning to a starting base, and the car is just hitch hicking.
Box cars could make a nice she shed!
I wish! Boxcar children was my favorite book series at one point in my childhood.
What an efficient operation lol
nice Scott
Thank you
That bridge would be interesting to model
Good video Scott. How many cars per week do they handle? Any idea?
I remember the transformation of locomotive engines being a big let down. Then there is a platform with a staircase on the front 😰
Good recording, anyway.
Nice video...goes to show no “road” is too small. What kind of drone do you use?
Paducah geep, rebuilt in IC’s Paducah shop in the 70’s; which today is... MK?
Paducah made some interesting rebuilds!
Okay...first off great video. How did you edit out the sound of the drone? Drones are typically really noisy drowning out all other noise.
You must have recorded that in either June or early July as the corn isnt that high.
Hey Scott taipale why this freight train running backwards?
Near the end when the train stopped, the noise made me think the train derailed. lol. I've seen worse.
Wow I can't even hear the RC helicopter sound in any of your mics. Very well done, or do you have a 100 foot techno crane? :p
These were rebuilt from gp7 and 9 parts in 1978
Cool
What are those natural gas trailers all about? Are they for powering farm equipment that runs on natural gas, and get towed behind as a fuel tank?
Those are anhydrous ammonia fertilizer tanks.
