I know there was already a lot of irithyll dungeon in this, but it's worth mentioning how whenever you pick up some items in said dungeon, the body that you picked the item up from screams at you
Ngl, the first time I entered Irithyll dungeon, I had to take a break for a day or two to build up the courage and explore it bc it freaked me tf out, lmao. Screaming corpses that give away your position did _not_ help, lmao.
Can’t forget about the subtle jump scare in the fishing hamlet dlc, where you go down the ladder to get Maria’s sword only to find a shark waiting at the bottom. Then when you swing your camera around while on the ladder you can see another shark upside down menacingly just watching you. Made my pants brown immediately. 😂
The Tomb of the Giants in DS1 jumpscared me on my first playthrough. I took it slow because it's pitch black but I quickly remembered I had the Sunlight Maggot, when I put it on I instantly saw that massive skeleton on all fours staring at me a few inches from my face. I think 5:43 about sums it all up!
After I killed the Gargoyles, I was so on edge cuz of how quiet it was compared to the loud boss fight. So when I came down the ladder and saw a creepy guy I just slashed at him. Then we had an epic battle.
I knew you would include the werewolves from Bloodborne. The two that scared me the most were the one that bursts through a door in Old Yarnham and the one that jumps through a window in Upper Cathedral Ward.
#1 for me is easily the first kite dude from Ashina Castle in Sekiro. you can hear him but can't figure out where it's coming from until they run over you and you just scream and throw away the controller.
I will never forget on my very first playthrough of Dark Souls 1 how Oswald scared the shit out of me. Since the camera is kinda weird when you go down the ladder, my character perfectly blocked Oswald until I got to the door. I felt fear surge and I immediately attacked him. Only after I killed him I looked him up because of the item he dropped. Good times.
The worst jumpscare I had in Elden Ring (besides the buried finger creepers) was actually Rya of all things. Returning to a room I'd been in before and suddenly seeing a man-serpent for the first time was a major jump in my seat moment.
This recap unlocked all the scares I tried to repress. The spider creature in ds3 and hand spiders in elden ring literally made me jump and shout, before I died to them from being unprepared and spooked. Great list.
Fromsoft does great use of jumpscares. They dont rely on them as the primary method of atmosphere (which seems to be a thing recently, games using jumpscares in place of actual creepy design, lore or enemies) but they are used to great effect when they do decide to put one in. *How* many people started wailing on Oswald of Carim because he just popped out of nowhere? I know I saw him and reflexively attacked.
I don’t think I attacked Oswald but I do remember getting a chill and freezing 😂 also, I agree! Fromsoftware is my favorite game developer when it comes to jump scares because they take the time to make you paranoid and nervous before they throw it at you and they don’t overuse them
I think there should have been honorable mention for "pretty much everything in Bloodbornes chalice dungeons". But especially Labyrinth madmen. Those f*ckers shrieking amd tearing ass at you at 100 mph twitching and flailing away (some beating you with a mummified corpse even!) I dont know how many times I hit the ceiling trying to clear chalice dungeons. But with them, I noped right tf out of there.
I gotta say my #1 is the Aldia bonfire jumpscare. It was the only time in a FromSoft game I legit dropped my controller in terror and shrieked like a little girl. I think it plays on the trope of something you’re used to being safe is suddenly dangerous and not safe which even not a lot of horror games do.
This video is a hidden gem! I love the idea, it's a great Halloween type thing and is a specific enough topic for a top 10 that it feels fresh. Keep it up!
Loving your videos. One that gets me is the hollow (or hollows?) in irithyll dungeon that literally run out and push you off the ledge. Always forget about those fellers
Yesterday i got to the bestial sanctum to give gurranq the last deathroots and i had probably my worst jumpscare of this franchise. I didn't know that he would attack me. I mean, i did know that he would but i didn't knew when. And for some reason instead of "waiting" hostile at the end of the hall like i saw in other playthroughs(yes i searched other people to see if i was the only one that got scared) he went all the way next to the grace Mf just jumped at me exploding the pillars the second i step out of the grace area
imo the hand that climbs up when you're going for the mt gelmir map fragment was 10x scarier than caria manor. First fromsoft jumpscare that actually made me jump
The giant spider thing in anor londo In ds3 scared the absolute shit out of me. I somehow managed to walk fast enough that I didn’t see it drop and I also didn’t hear it land. But I remeber I turned around towards the exit and it was just standing there right he in my face and made me actually yell
Me personally the giant spider room in the nightmare of mensis area in Bloodborne had me put down my controller for a good 20 mins before working up the courage to push forward. It's always those damn spiders!
That’s a really good point! Between kaathe and the brain of mensis, from software really likes to have you walk up on something terrifying in total darkness! And those eyes in the dark of tomb of the giants are so creepy 😂

Because my camera and focus was on the shiny i didn't saw them and they scared me so hard ! Also honorable mention to the worse enemy in all fromsoft games that scared me more than once: gravity, precisely the holes i didn't see because of the light ! And honorable mention to my own shadow that made me jump in areas where i had to use the torch!

Not necessarily a jump scare, but the bloodletting beast in bb was scary enough in it's first form. The second meeting with it was pure nightmare fuel.
Playing through the dark souls series, I’ve realized that I have an intense phobia for oversized bugs. The basilisks also fit into that category, because of their big beedy red bulb things (which are not their eyes, I guess). I remember I thought they were bugs when I first encountered them, and I hated how fast they moved. They’re much less scary in elden ring, though, albeit just as dangerous.
"Cage with all the dudes in it". I love it hahaha. Yes. I shit my pants the first time one of those came to life in the Undead Settlement. But I soon learned how to tell apart the enemy ones from the decorative ones. They just look different. Like the animation cells on an old cartoon.
my number 1 scare has got to be wolfnir. i was playing the game in front of some friends and i had alrrady gotten frightened by the ressurecting skeletons in the room before. i got to the gobelt room thinking i was safe so i walked up to the goblet and touched it as soon as possible as to get some I-frames just in case the skeletons were still behind me and it brought me to the dark room with one item in it. i said to my buddy "imagine this is a boss" and i go to pick up the item. ive never screamed louder in my life.
DS2 NG+ mimic on the way to Forest of Fallen Giants. Not only is it a way to catch someone off guard, someone who's used to other, boring NG+s in other Souls games, but it creates a dread about what else is to come if THAT is different. and then you have f*cking FREYJA AMBUSHING YOU ON THE WAY TO HER IN BRIGHSTONE COVE. Man, DS2 loved trying new things, and I LOVE IT.
I actually attacked Oswald by accident when coming down the ladder from sheer panic. Him just standing there caught me so off guard a litteraly jumped and almost dropped my controller..... Luckily it takes more than 1 hit to piss him off...
Great video man XD I didn't expect the squidman to be the bloodborne jumpscare of the video. I expected it to be the wooden log that falls down and hits you in the face as soon as you go into the area! that scared the crap out of me on my first playtrough XD.
Well, snake dude was one of the scares for me because I really wasn’t expecting it to happen 😂 also I gotta make a part two from all the ones I’ve missed! That log is a great example 😆
@@traeirby oh there’s a guy in the first area when you’re walking towards a bunch of guys around a fire and when you go by a church someone bursts out from behind boxes😂
I got jumped scared by lansseax in a totally different area from the alteus plain where I first encountered her in my first playthrough sent me scrambling😂
God, even though Im subbed and love your channel and watch stuff as soon as it comes out, the algorithm hid it from me! I had no idea you had new content until I realized I hadnt seen anything from you lately and manually searched for it. Stupid algorithm.
Dude idk what in the world happened with that but that is crazy! Do you notifications turned on? Anyway, it seems like they slowed down the impressions for my two biggest videos about a day or two ago so they’re hating on me atm 😂
I’ll never forget in the Nightmare of Mensis opening a big door to see the giant furry looking spider hanging from the ceiling with like twenty other spiders. I remember I was on a roll up to that point getting through everything but I think I saw that thing and just said “I’m done for the night” lol😂
I really appreciate you commenting on this, because I completely forgot about the pus of man! After thinking that I had talked about every major jump scare, you guys have given me enough fuel to write a complete follow up to this video!
its hilarious to me that you're holding that scythe because I got jumpscared by a player ghost holding one on the other side of a fake wall the other day
Absolutely! Honestly, I think I was trying so hard to think of all the memorable experiences with a jump scare in Fromsoftware game that I completely forgot about the most obvious one!
I'm making a note, Because I apparently missed that guy when I was playing through Elden Ring the first time. Hopefully, I will find him on my second play through! And as far as the woo guy, Honestly. I don't even think I had played securo. Pass the first level by that point, so I did not even know about him at the time lol
First time walking through shaded wood and got backstabbed by an invisible dude made me scream out loud also in elden ring when something similar happens

I remember, on my first playthrough, being on the lookout as I climbed the bell tower, then getting caught off guard by Oswald.
It’s burned into my memory too 😂
Playing through the dark souls series, I’ve realized that I have an intense phobia for oversized bugs. The basilisks also fit into that category, because of their big beedy red bulb things (which are not their eyes, I guess). I remember I thought they were bugs when I first encountered them, and I hated how fast they moved. They’re much less scary in elden ring, though, albeit just as dangerous.
The Woo guy in sekuro is really underrated
I know it’s embarrassing but I have an actually gotten sekiro yet lol
@@traeirby nah 💀🙏 , bro you need to get sekiro and do a playthrough of it .
I was looking for this comment. Scared the life out of me and then I died becuase I couldn't stop laughing.
Number one for me is collectively the chalice dungeon sages in Bloodborne
Babe wake up, new Trey Irby fromsoft ranking video just dropped
Hope y’all enjoyed it! 😂❤️
"Cage with all the dudes in it". I love it hahaha. Yes. I shit my pants the first time one of those came to life in the Undead Settlement. But I soon learned how to tell apart the enemy ones from the decorative ones. They just look different. Like the animation cells on an old cartoon.
😂 very true but OMG that first scare lol
my number 1 scare has got to be wolfnir. i was playing the game in front of some friends and i had alrrady gotten frightened by the ressurecting skeletons in the room before. i got to the gobelt room thinking i was safe so i walked up to the goblet and touched it as soon as possible as to get some I-frames just in case the skeletons were still behind me and it brought me to the dark room with one item in it. i said to my buddy "imagine this is a boss" and i go to pick up the item. ive never screamed louder in my life.
🤣 I wish I could have been there so bad!
Very good example! And yes, DS2 had brass balls for trying all that new stuff!
I actually attacked Oswald by accident when coming down the ladder from sheer panic. Him just standing there caught me so off guard a litteraly jumped and almost dropped my controller..... Luckily it takes more than 1 hit to piss him off...
He’s gotta be the most frightening friendly npc in a game 😂
The giant finger creeper that drops onto the death bird on the mountain of giants gave me a stroke
I don’t remember that one! I’m going to have to look for that!
I think I heard some Mortal Kombat soundtrack in there somewhere?
You sure did! Some of that music is super ominous and creepy!
Hearing other people talk about how Oswald jumpscared them after the bell gargoyles fight is so funny. I thought i was the only one
I never saw him on my first playthrough. And when i did on my third i alt f4d so hard.
Legitimately made my blood run cold 😂
🤣🤣🤣
So, where are the invisible jailers in the Profane Capital that just appear behind you when you least expect it?
I can’t believe how many I’ve forgotten! I’m going to have to make a part two to this one too 😂
Great video man XD I didn't expect the squidman to be the bloodborne jumpscare of the video. I expected it to be the wooden log that falls down and hits you in the face as soon as you go into the area! that scared the crap out of me on my first playtrough XD.
sorry, ment snake man*
Well, snake dude was one of the scares for me because I really wasn’t expecting it to happen 😂 also I gotta make a part two from all the ones I’ve missed! That log is a great example 😆
Also, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
the desert sorceress in DS2 always jumpscare me because i approach and then just explode out of nowhere with their frame 1 fireball.
🤣 good example!
My first fromsoftware game was Bloodborne and that first guy that jumps out in the beginning got me good.
Are you talking about in the intro Cinematic lol?
@@traeirby oh there’s a guy in the first area when you’re walking towards a bunch of guys around a fire and when you go by a church someone bursts out from behind boxes😂
Bro your getting even more popular than last time
It's aspen369, I played bloodborne with you a while back, glad to see you doing good.
❤️ god to hear from you! I appreciate you man, had fun!
Top scare for me was that Sentient giant Steel ball in Elden Ring. Scare was brief, as soon as it started following me I was like, wtf.
Oh man! That ball scared me too I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! 😂
for me the scariest thing was the headless in sekiro.
Dang it seems that I severely need to hurry up and play sekiro 😂
@@traeirbyno kidding man
I got jumped scared by lansseax in a totally different area from the alteus plain where I first encountered her in my first playthrough sent me scrambling😂
🤣
Man I hope this channel blows up, quality stuff.
Thanks! ❤️ I’m glad you liked it!
The scariest Jump Scare that got me, from a fromsoftware game is probably the ammunition and repair bill in Armored Core games.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OK that’s pretty funny I might have to steal that joke!
@@traeirby you are welcome to and great video btw
Aldia's first bonfire appearance definitely made me jump
Oh yeah absolutely I was definitely not expecting it!
Honorable mentions:
- The WOOOO guy in sekiro
- The Lycan in old yharnam town
- Honest Brute in Armored Core 6
Ong honest brute! For some reason I didn’t remember any from armored core six I’m gonna have to go back and look at that one again!
Man, I can’t believe I overlooked that one!
lmao the troll 2 OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOD
🤣🤣🤣
The Man of Pus enemy in Dark Souls III is really an "OH SH*T!" moment. Super scary if you don't see it coming.
I really appreciate you commenting on this, because I completely forgot about the pus of man! After thinking that I had talked about every major jump scare, you guys have given me enough fuel to write a complete follow up to this video!
its hilarious to me that you're holding that scythe because I got jumpscared by a player ghost holding one on the other side of a fake wall the other day
🤣🤣 it’s a Halloween miracle 👻
I would've put the mimics up there for me. First time encountering one is an experience like no other
Absolutely! Honestly, I think I was trying so hard to think of all the memorable experiences with a jump scare in Fromsoftware game that I completely forgot about the most obvious one!
Was expecting to see the Elden Ring hollow that turns into a rune bear, and/or the Sekiro kite screamer
That’s right! I forgot about that first time in the shaded woods!
@@traeirby demands update video 😂😂😂
Gimme a hell yeah
❤
Ahhh yes .
Good ol wolf boy busting down the door in old yarnham.
Classic!
Ooooooh, so this was the 1 video in your playlist which i could not view. Im so glad that i found your channel a few days ago and subbed to your channel.
I love your videos and your way of talking and presentation. Keep going the way you do. Really love your content.
Watched your videos while i was farming Bloodgems in Bloodborne and i kept laughing non-stop - especially your top10 scariest mobs in DS 1 video.
Have a nice day man!
Cheers
❤️ thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you like it!
Oswald had me freeze the instant I got off that ladder lmao. I watched my buddy play that part years later and he had the exact same reaction lol.
I swear dude. He is so damn creepy lol
I’m so glad I found your channel in the backrooms of YT this shit is gold brother
❤️ SO GLAD you liked it!!!
When you say jump scare, I think about Maria in the clock tower, grabbing you.
Oooooh! Good one!
The kite dive bomber from Sekiro should be here too, that has a whole montage of streamers freaking out
Yeah, I really wish I had played sekiro before I made this video but I am gonna make a part two eventually and I’m definitely gonna play through sekiro before that happens!
The Goat with another banger 🔥
😊❤️👍
