I have just started to see the videos as well. The first was one that I found extraordinary. A Hen with her chickens grooving across a road, a in a line, when suddenly mum froze, and the chicks did as well. One would think that their hearts stopped beating, they were so still. Then, I suppose when mum felt it was safe again, the grooving started again and off they went… a joy!
Fun fact: woodcocks only "dance" when they know they're being watched. It's a way of deterring predators by saying "I see you, I know you're there, I can take off whenever I want so don't waste your energy attacking me".
Here’s the lyrics: I am that sly birb That fly birb Up-high birb Struttin’s my matter Like Jagger coming’ down the block Bobbin’, hobblin’, Livin’ it up on the floor Ain’t no doubt Gonna walk it out Bobbin’ it up some more Imma birb (Dance birb) Call the pigeons and the hummingbirds Imma birb (Dance birb) My moves are still the word Imma birb (Dance birb) Look at me you know what I am Imma birb (Dance birb) And I’m all ‘bout that boogie (Break it down!) I'll just say it, Funk is the rhythm of nature, I've known that since 1978,when the Funk was pure and plentiful. I cannot tell you how good this stuff is for you.
These videos of this specific bird bring me an immense wave of happiness that is completely indescribable and doesn't come from any other videos i watch.
Saw one on my property this past spring. I thought something was wrong with it. I had never heard of one. We have a video of it. I live on 23 wooded acres in southeast Louisiana. I have plenty pines, live oaks, gums and numerous other trees. I understand they like the piney woods. It was really cute. I read something about that how it looks for bugs.
He strutting. I don't care, these things can give peacocks competition. They have an unbeatable "I'm weird, but in a charming over-the-top way." It's adorable.
This is such a cute video! He is gettin' down with his feathery self!! Just bebopping along to music only he can hear! Love it! It just makes me smile and lifts me up!
I love these funky dudes. Never get enough used to meet them out by the pond in the wood on the border of the field when I was young. Even without music they pretty funky .lol
I grew up in the woods in Mississippi but I had never seen a woodcock to my knowledge until a few years ago. These birds are a natural treasure and should be protected at all cost 😊😂😊
The visuals are great and the music is well written and easy to listen to. Funk music will always get me chair dancing and from the first notes I started and like this so much shared it with my IN contacts. This would be a great addition to the 440Music Playlist
I'm playing the muted video with "I Got You Babe", Sonny and Cher. Also works well with nearly any sitcom theme song from the 60s/70s. Particularly interesting with both "I Dream of Jeannie" and the closing theme from "WKRP in Cincinnati".
@@lindarockafellow5058 if you go back to the same place there might be another one in the exact same spot. I have heard from old bird hunters that they always go back to their favorite spots and they all use the same ones. I don't know if it's true though.
The movement emulates a leaf on a tree branch. They live in trees so its a form of camouflage along with their color scheme they are quite hard to spot in the trees. But he is certainly a beautiful little bird! Thank you for sharing!
I'm in my 40s and I've been mainlining the internet since it was a thing yet there has never been an animal that fascinated me enough to go look up more of it... until NOW.
I will never stop watching this woodcock video set to different backing tracks. And UA-cam keeps recommending them to me lol. The American Woodcock is now in my top 5 birds I want to see in person someday - knowing that they're secretive and normally more active at night makes it all the more exciting!!! They just have such a funny head shape to me, and the little WARK noise they make is so good. Even the male's breeding flights are incredible - just absolutely wonderful little brown birds.
My dog wiggles like that, with a near constant wag of his tail....grins big when he sees strangers or friends. He's just a happy boy. Maybe these birds are just happy birds, eh😁? HUGS2U 🤗😊
There appears to be an endless supply of woodcock videos out there. World, never stop making them. It just never gets old for me.
I just started seeing them show up on my feed recently. Interesting birdie. Lotsa rhythm!
I’m so glad this bird is finally getting popular, I just recently heard about them the first time a month ago. The babies especially are so precious

Aww I wish I could see them in person one day but I live in the US. I heard they reside around the UK was it?
i watch tons of woodcock a day!
He knows he's being watched .... and he's cool with it.
Cool with it? I'd say it's FUELING HIM.
Man loves an audience. Fair play to him.

The only way this clip could be better, is if they had 1 or 2 reversals (so that the bird takes a step back then forward again) 😀
@@Swindle1984 oh, so this moves kinda like their warming up/ standby stance huh.
I just spent a minute and a half watching a bird walk across pavement and I don't regret a single second.
Here’s the lyrics:
I am that sly birb
That fly birb
Up-high birb
Struttin’s my matter
Like Jagger
coming’ down the block
Bobbin’, hobblin’,
Livin’ it up on the floor
Ain’t no doubt
Gonna walk it out
Bobbin’ it up some more
Imma birb
(Dance birb)
Call the pigeons and the hummingbirds
Imma birb
(Dance birb)
My moves are still the word
Imma birb
(Dance birb)
Look at me you know what I am
Imma birb
(Dance birb)
And I’m all ‘bout that boogie
(Break it down!)
Eagles can fly
(Oooh)
Penguins can dive
(Oooh)
And ravens are sly
(Oooh)

But woodcock funk don’t really care
But woodcock funk don’t really care
Late at night and we on the floor
Don’t say a thing and just strut, C’MON!!!

No, it's not cringe, it's a good comment lol
THAT IS AWESOME MAN!
Made my day hah
Beautiful
Absolutely brilliant! 😁😁😁
Sooo delightfully creative and hilarious!!! Haha Thank you for sharing your silliness! Love it!!! 😂
So stinkin' cute. I love the fact the head remains completely static while the rest of the body moves.
😅😊
Just like Raptors while flying!
In dance terminology, it’s called “isolation.” Birb has it down. 🐦
Shorebirds gots da mooooves.
I do that too
ALL HAIL KING BIRD 👑🐦 master of deadpan dance moves. He didn't even _blink!_
Bird is a sav.
It's amazing how these birds always dance to groovy music.
😂yes!
A re-created John Travolta! His buddy must be the one playing guitar, not too bad either..
I saw one take 3 normal steps once!
Love your satire. At least someone will think the music was playing where the bird was.
Is he really dancing to the music or is he doing a mating dance that someone put to music? It's neat anyway.
The Woodcock dance would be a balance exercise for seniors.
This senior tried it. It's great! 😁😅
That is the perfect song for that dancing bird. Loved it.
If I could dance like that I would be on Broadway
…and I would pay to see you
🤭
I don't know about Broadway, but I would have gotten more dates in highschool. This woodcock puts my moves to shame. Lol
Perfect tune to go with this struttin’ badazz.
He got the grooove😌
Look at those smooth moves! Watching this little bird jam just brightened my day 😍😊😁
What a great choice of music for this bird, who obviously has rhythm.
There are a number of versions of the woodcock dance and music out there, but this music selection is spot on and awesome, thanks for sharing.👍😉
OMG, this little funk-Dancing bird put a smile on my face. So cute 😗.
A smile on my face and laughter in my heart! I love it!🥰🤗

Facts. Dont fight it, just get on up and shake that thang. Your heart & soul will thank you for it!
It was even purer in '74/'75
Yeah but that little bird is versatile lol
Yes THANK YOU this is the kind of content the world is in desperate need of right now. No politics no drama just a woodcock doing its flexy thing.
Now needed more than ever.
He's got the beat all right!!!
This never gets old. I’m listening to salsa on the TV, and this birdie is right on the beat.
I agree that I never get tired of these impossibly adorable little birds. Keep them coming!
“you can tell by the way I move my beak, I’m birdies man, no time for tweet” (adorable. Love this. Made my day)
Uptown Funk has never looked or sounded so cute! 🐈
Best version, imho, and with the woodcock rocking it, it’s feel-good vibes dialled up to 11! Curious to know if the British woodcock struts as well…..
Woodcock boogie videos are my new favourite thing. 😌 Made a new playlist especially for them.
I'd like to see your woodcock dancing compilation video...
God has a beautiful sense of humour to have made the bird 😂❤
He’s got the moves like Jagger…only way, way cuter!! Just perfect. 👍🏻 🐦 🕺 🎶
I agree. 😀
Owns the dance floor.
🤣🤣🤣
Rocking out to the beat perfectly. This is amazing haha 😂
This little dude can really dance to the rhythm...Love to see more of him !!!
That dude is a natural performer and so talented. I had never seen one before so thank you for your wonderful video.
This bird is a cutie.ROCKING OUT.THE BEAT GOES ON.🙂Thanks for sharing.☕️Prefect music behind his moves.👌
Haven't seen one dance to funk before. These are versatile birds! :)
Is anyone else dancing too? C'mon you know that heads bobbin! Thank you Nixon! Only thing it needed was the rest of the song!
He’s jammin on every right step. Funky bird could really drop it to the floor with George Clinton Tunes 😂😂❤❤❤
WT FUNK!! 😂 This woodcock is a way better dancer 💃🏻 🕺 than I’ll ever be! 😍🥰 🐦
The bird's got rhythm! 😂
Beautifully choreographed 😎 Thank you-appreciate 💕 your time, hard work ‘n energy 🇺🇸❣️🇺🇸
A woodcock dance-walking video popped up on my recommendations one day and I've been hooked since.
Crossing the road with style! Thanks, I needed that today.

Definitely has the right beat

That shoulder wag, tho… and the look. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and boy, baby got style.😂
Everyone needs a little woodcock now and then!
Yep! 👍👏🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks ! Run into these birds all the time around here. Wayne in northern Ontario, Canada
That bird has got *some* groove! This was funny. Thanks for posting! ☮️❤️🐾
I love it. This fella has moves.
Love this birb!!!🤗🤗🤗

@@SagebrushRambles Birb is a word that birders use to describe really cute birds. Some birders think all birds are birbs. 🤗🐦🦆🐧
@@stephaniecarrow4898 I didn’t know that! Thank you for the information. I’ve seen that spelling before and always thought it was a typo.
Do these guys know how funny they are?😂❤️
Abundant amount of woodcock videos but every single video made me pleased Alhamdulillah 🙌🏼❤️🔥
Can't get enough of these cute birds!❤
This music is the best ever for the Woodcocks!!!
So this is the origin of those funky dances! 😁

Some nice guitar work there. Made me want to play along
This is a funky little guy for sure! Thanks for sharing this little gem!
I am so ashamed!, he dances better than me and he is cute too!!!!!! 😥😢🤣🤣😂😂
Funk is quite a match to this lovely creature! 🕺
Came for the woodcock, stayed for the music! Thanks!

He is a fantastic little actor!!! Love you little one!!! 💗 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Joannie
So darn adorable..😚
This was so great 👍 He definitely had the beat and the song was perfect 👌 👏
I wish I had these guys in my area
Most people who do still never see one. We have them and snipe where I am and I have never seen one.
In Michigan walking in woods and 1 flew up. Amazing how they fly through trees. felt blessed to see it

They are such adorable and delightful little birds.❤️
I am supposed to be packing up to move but here I am lost down the you tube rabbit hole watching a woodcock walk wayyy cooler than I ever could…
At that rate, it’s gonna be a long time before he gets to his destination! But he looks cool while he’s going! 😂

Same with people
The Woodcock... my NEW favorite animal! 🕺💃
I didn’t believe you.
So I just watched.
Hallelujah, that bird funky.
Better sense of time than a lot of drummers I’ve met.
This dude is busting some epic moves! ❤
Notice how he keeps his head even. Real talent.

They don’t get anywhere fast, but they always go in style!
