This bird isn't on the move, it's on the groove!
😂😂😂😂
Lol, perfect comment!
Oh no. Now our wildlife is mindlessly dancing.
Yea baby!
Best bird of all time
They NEVER ARRIVE ANYWHERE ON TIME,
but Have a Great time Getting there!!!
Like me!!

😂😂😂😂
The way to somewhere is their target.
This comment made my WHOLE Friday night!!! 😂😂
*_these little goobers are so skrunkly, and the fact they make little "peent" noises is just my favorite, plus they just vibe while existing_*

A person simply cannot be unhappy looking at this.

I saw it. Who can't get joy out of this great creation by our Lord? And what a FABULOUS tune the cinematographer chose!! TEQUILA! Drink responsibly (or not at all if you're allergic☕).MERRY CHRISTMAS AMERICA🎉

Dancing to this in the kitchen!
Me too!
@@soph7230 she can if she wants to. God is awesome😊
These birds come straight from the Ministry of Silly Walks.
This reminds me of old youtube ❤ I love when people appreciate the small things in life that make up the wonder and beauty of the world
Amazing how their head stays completely stationary while their body is groovin.
That's because they don't hear Heavy Metal music.
😂😂😂
They're listening for the movements of their next meal.
It's so hilarious and intriguing, like the bird itself lol
I'd never heard of them before, but now I love them.
Almost all groovy birbs do this!

Makes an Old Man from Canada Smile under my pain Thank You for putting it on here
The tiny chicks doing it, too, are so cute! I had heard of woodcocks before but knew nothing of their "dancing." Good piece to use for the clip.
the fact even the babies dance omg so cute!!!! 💖
Woodcoks don't dance, they boogie!!😎
more like bobb'n
😂😂😂
Kinda makes you wonder, if they were raised by parents different than woodcocks. Would they still be bop? Is it just something that they learn it from the mom n dad?
wow...just wow. 🙄
Little dudes are the embodiment of vibin'
This song is the only song that should be played when watching these birds 🤣
I hate zoomers so fucking much...
I just had a long hard day working in ED. This video and these groovy little birds just soothed my soul. You can't help but smile and want to do their dance. Thank you xxx
Funky borb gettin' jiggy with it
0:52 1:35 OMIGOSH THE SOUND 🥺😭
And the song is a bop. No wonder the woodcocks are dancing 🕺🐦🕺🐦
They are protected from predators by making them stop in disbelief. Cheerful video!👍
😂😂😂
And then they join in.
😃🤣😂
😂🤣😂
Maybe the predators think they have rabies or something else wrong with them and decide not to eat them? 🤷🏾♀️
1:18 Researchers have no idea why humans DON’T bob like this.
Many people don’t have rhythm...
🤣🤣😂😂💖💯
Speak for yourself buddy! Every time my kids and I hear Earth, Wind and Fire, we're exactly like this... well, perhaps not quite as funky. 🤣
That is the more important question
I know some people who do.😂
Before I saw them move, I wondered why they're your favourite bird. Now I understand, and they're mine too now. Most dedicated break-dancers ever!. And I can't handle how funny and cute the babies are!
I, too, absolutely love the majestic Timberdoodle. The chicks dancing with the adults are absurdly cute. ❤😂😊
There are several researchers who have advanced plausible theories for why the woodcock walks like this. B. H. Christy suggested they are "worm charming" as a hunting mechanism as early as 1931.
nerd
That's what they "dance" for. And their long beaks are made for probing. Great design I'd say ☺️✌️
@@revelationakagoldeneagle8045 Pretty wild what evolution can accomplish, for sure.
BF skinner said it was because they are mental.

Come to the US some time, they are here.🥰

😄😆
Don't lose that pep in your step, Prudence!
That just made me smile 🙂. We need more videos like this in these dark times. Made my day 👍🙂
They alternate between unison and syncopation, but they're always in time.
Boss: "Why are you late for work again!? And it better not be because 'The woodcocks are crossing the street again' or you're fired!"
Me: **Gulps, sweats nervously watching the woodcocks shimmy majestically across road in front of car**
Man these birds walk with swag, just like me every morning on my way to work.
They're the opposite of pigeons; somehow they move their entire body but keep their heads perfectly still whilst walking.
Those babies are learning right along with Mama! Listening for small invertebrates and crustaceans in the mud.
be sure to loop this video to all human infants
but why are they also doing it on the asphalt road? maybe they just don't realize the difference
@@cappystrano1no! they are dancing!

That meep in the middle just made this video my favorite so perfect put together!!
Put together perfectly, is it?
Indeed!😂

@@thomasmleahy6218 No, so perfect(ly) put together.
Oh my word, that was adorable 😍
Would they run when scared? Looks like they're taking their sweet time bobbing in front of the vehicle 😂 Totally loved the parent with babies!!! Thanks 4 sharing!!!!
I've seen these birds only twice, despite ALWAYS being outside and their commonness in most of the areas where I do my 'outsiding'. One was sitting, stock-still and AMAZINGLY camouflaged, on our farm property in southeastern OH. I could've walked past a thousand times and never seen it, but I was watching a juvenile black ratsnake and it was headed its way (dunno if they nest on the ground, but if so I bet it was a nesting female, as ratsnakes LOVE birds/baby birds/sometimes eggs). I caught the snake, took it somewhere else, and never disturbed the bird. Another time I saw two 'dancing' across a trail in Cooper's Rock state park in WV, took them like 10 minutes, haha! So cool.
That meep is too cute! ❤
And perfectly timed! This channel is really living up to its name.
If all humans would walk like this, we'd live in a better world!
No time to quarrel, no time to fight, no time to organise a war bcos too busy being happily bouncing
Definitely.
So much to learn from other animals and each other.
Let’s face it, most of us couldn’t walk like that if someone paid us.
It would certainly make police body cams more entertaining! And Ferris wheels!

That’s why you never send a woodcock to the store to get you something, he’ll take forever just to cross the road
I wonder if they ever run. Like their relatives, the sandpipers. No matter.......they're so cute and fun to watch!!!
Got that inborn sense of rhythm.
Best video on the American woodcock I’ve ever seen. Love the babies!
Supercute
You're the only one to give this bird a name; thank you it's "bécasse" in French and this what i thought
how everything your parents do is normal, until your first day at bird school
That is wild. I never knew they did that. Thanks for the video. The song is perfect too. I especially like how the first birdy caught the beat as the second bird was approaching then both just danced across the street. Cheers!
even the little ones are doing it!!!

Honest question, not trying to be suggestive. Does watching the news benefit you in any way or does it just fuel your anxiety? I've personally found that nothing the news reports is within my control anyway, and these days they make a whole show out of speculation. "This has happened. We spoke to a random 'expert' to hear more about what might happen next". Then the next day something else happens and the story repeats. More experts, more speculation. Personally I haven't read the news in a year and I've never been happier. If anything affects me directly, it'll reach me through other ways. But almost everyone else I speak to appears to have a strong urge to watch the news and I struggle to understand why. Thanks!
@@EctoMorpheusI completely understand where you're coming from, especially since the news tries to withhold the nasty details as well. I think it's to keep ourselves aware as much as possible, and a sort of morbid curiosity if you will.
@@EctoMorpheusThat is a solid statement and one I've been trying to convey in my own home for several years now. I appreciate your words immensely. God bless.
@@EctoMorpheus Don't know about others' motivations, but I have always wanted to live my life being ready for anything. It makes me feel secure. So I watch news so that I know what to plant in my garden, for instance, in case there's a flood or freeze that destroys the corn crop for that year. I watch the news so I can prepare for a harsh winter, for instance, by making sure I have enough wood for my stove so I will be comfortable and not suffer shivering all winter. So when I feel secure, I can spend more carefree hours sitting on my porch listening to the birds, having fun lunching with a friend, volunteering with a charitable organization or church group, cleaning brush and mowing the grass for an elderly person, just to name a few of the benefits of my feeling secure. I also can sing to the Lord all day long, because I know I have done what I can and I can leave all the rest of my cares and difficulties to Him. You mention you struggle to understand why people have a strong urge to watch/read the news. I would just say to you, if you don't feel the same urge and you are more happy not learning the news, you just trust yourself and be happy! More power to you! You have a special gift, I think ❤

The baby birds grooving along with their parent are so cute.

The one with the babies…mom teaching her little ones. Love it and could put a smile on the most sour face.
Those two Woodcocks just accomplished a feat that Possums and a lot of people in Portland, OR cannot do. That being crossing the street.
You got a point there.

Dance, Hokumpoke, dance
The Creator of all things is playing with us.
Yep. Harvestmen (aka daddy-longlegs) and the common toad also prove She's got a sense of humor.
He most certainly has a sense of humour.
There is no such thing as a "creator". The creators of these birds were their parent birds. The idea of a creator was created by uneducated, pre-historic humans.
How???
May be our ALMIGHTY LORD THE CREATOR OF all things wants us to wonder in his creations to know him well and to fulfill our purpose and mission in life by being good to ourselves and being good to others and being good to him by worshiping him as he want and to thank him first of all HE IS THE ONE CREATED us from nothing and giving us all we have, and created the universe with all what is in it for us and for our benefit.
They behave like they live (or originally lived) in swamps, walking from a clump of vegetation firm enough to another.
My hypothesis for why they Bob like this, this song is stuck on loop when they walk; and when they fly it’s “I want to fly like an eagle.”
This dance gives me faith in the universe.
I read it was for the bird to sense the movement of worms.. a food source.
I love the way they walk❤ watching the chicks learn is the cutest
I'm just happy there are at least some very patient drivers out there giving these creatures time to put on their performance.
As a Woodcock Legend once said: "If you can't escape your predators simply mesmerize them with a dance. 100% proven efficiency. Satisfied or refunded."
Truly the video of all time
Oh my. I would never be mad about waiting in a car for these fellas to strut across the road. Just turn the radio up and experience pure joy.

We would all be happier if we could just Boogie through life like those birds! They are beautiful inside and out! Love them. Thanks for posting. Made me smile big time!
European Woodcock are migratory and fly from Siberia to the West of Ireland. They have a pin feather at the first joint in each wing which was frequently used by some of histories most famous artists.
When they take off they empty their bowels completely to make them lighter for flight. Unusually they can carry their youn while flying.
They have binocular vision for about 20 degrees in front and 11 degrees behind. The European woodcock looks longer than its American cousin, an altogether fascinating bird.
Thank you for that.
Do they also know how to party?
