False, She agreed to take the job of being a pet sitter, its her responsibility to only take work from dogs she can handle watch and manage which is apart of the job and work responsibilities she accepted if she was not capable of stopping the dog doing damage (Which is highly unlikely only case here is eg an agressive cane corso) Then she had the resposnibility to not take the job which she took. If a dog does that there is a behavioral issue the pet sitter failed to account for or recognise.

Dogsitter. “Hmm I really need to go to the bathroom but would feel uncomfortable for the dog to be with me while I’m shitting. I will just leave him laying in the living room for 5 minutes, no big deal. 5 min later to the room is a mess.” Obviously it’s unrealistic to be with your pet or children 24/7 without a moment to yourself. You’re not endangering your pet under your care simply because you felt like using the toilet by yourself for a few minutes.
The problem is there is simply no proof. Of course the dogsitter loses the case because for all anyone knows she could have tore her living room apart deliberately to get money for a home makeover blaming the dog. There would need to have been reported complaints or people to testify that this dogsitter tricks people. That is also a possibility.
Though I’m biased to think the dog owner deliberately didn’t tell the dogsitter that she knew her dog behaves like this on a casual basis and purposely had the dogsitter care for the dog in her own home instead of the dog owners home. I believe the dog owner took advantage of the law and may have had a history of doing so and may continue to do so. That’s just my opinion. I can’t actually no what happens. The Judge simply carried out the law. I bet she personally feels the dogsitter got hoodwinked. But the law is the law. No proof. No history of repeated allegations and reports. No other witnesses or anyone else to testify. It’s what it is.

Whatever happened is unfortunate but is NOT on the owner. Because it goes
"Can you watch over my animal while I completely don't watch what it does and it can do anything?"
      "Yes"

I had my own proof but as you can see I didn’t get a chance to stand up for her. What a joke Judge Judy has become. Not even allowing the plaintiff to plead her case? There are so many questions. Did the defendant ACTUALLY warn the plaintiff of the dog's issues? Has the defendant ever observed this behavior from her dog? Did this destruction happen while the plaintiff was home, at work, asleep? If the plaintiff was home, was she able or unable to restrain the dog when it began destroying things? Did the plaintiff place the dog in a secure location (such as a cage or secluded room) and the dog managed to break out in an unexpected way (or was it just improperly contained)? Why did the plaintiff bring the dog to her home in the first place instead of staying at the plaintiff's home? Were there any forms signed to waive or hold liability for the dog's destruction the plaintiff was not allowed to bring up? In the state they live in, who would be held accountable for another owner's dog destroying property while temporarily in the care of another person? We don't even know how much actual damage was done!
ALL of these questions and more could point towards an interesting case, but the judge dismissed all of them before even letting the plaintiff FINISH HER INITIAL CASE! What judge does that and could be considered professional? I'm sorry but, I would be outraged and put in a complaint against her or any judge that dismissed a case before it was even allowed to be made. This is a farce.

Heck, maybe it's both dogs, so why should the defendant offer to pay for something that might not even be her dog's fault and could have been prevented if the plaintiff actually look after the dog like she said she would? …has anyone here interacted with pets that aren’t their own? It’s at the very least it’s courteous to make whoever is looking after your pet aware of issues like this.
If the dog bit her, would they still be this flippant? What if they’re a frequent floor wetter, or what if they throw up in certain circumstances? What if the dog needs certain medication the owner doesn’t explain or provide? It feels a lot less clear cut than “oh dogs do that”. She has a point that not all dogs do that, and she should have at least been informed of behavioral issues if they were going to result in destruction of property.
Judge Judy was wildly unprofessional. She wasn’t willing to hear out the case at all, and had certain notions going in. The defendant didn’t even have to say anything. There’s a reason she’s a TV judge, this would have raised so many issues if this was a legitimate court.
