Quorthon within just 20 years created 4 masterful Black Metal albums, 5 masterful Viking Metal albums and another 5 other albums not successful but good i'd say (2 Thrash, 1 Viking/Thrash mix and 2 Alternative solo albums) and that's not even all, dude allegedly recorded many classical tracks from 1999 to 2000 but scrapped due to not sounding like Bathory and planned on some Gothic Metal material with his sister as well as a return to Black Metal in 2004 but died of a heart attack in june tragically, one last thing to say is that i read about plans of 80s demos to be compiled on a boxed set but that hasn't happened unfortunately. I've only found out about these guys four hours ago...but I swear you could divide my life into Pre-Bathory and Post-Bathory already! This fills a niche I've wanted for years!
I’ve known about them for a while, and liked some of the music. But this song, this song hooked me and I feel like I’ve changed since first hearing it.
Such an amazing song that gives me chills whenever I hear it, both due to the music and the lyrics. The lyrics are timeless. Not only do they highlight why christianity was allowed to take root in scandinavia (and other places), they also highlight why evil and opression is allowed to take root in general, still to this day and into the future. It's the age old "if we do this they'll leave us be", but it is in the end never enough since they'll just ask for more and more the moment you start to give in or bend.
I just show this to my christian brother but he cant accept the reality and how yis religion expanded through ages and lands. This prpaganda standing for 2 thousand years and still ppl cant understand how fake it is.

Lyrics
One man rode the way through the woods
Down to Asa bay
Where dragon ships had sailed to sea
More times than one could say
To see with own eyes the wonder
People told of from man to man
The God of all almightyness
Had arrived from a foreign land
The rumors told of a man
Who had come from the other side the seas
Carrying gold cross around neck in chain
And spoke in strange tongue of peace
He had come with strange men in armor
Dressed in purple shirts and lace
Smelling not of beer but flowers
And with no hair in face
And the bold man carrying cross
Had told all one of Asa bay
The God of all man woman child had come
To them all save
And to thank Lord of Heaven
One should build to God a house
And to save one's soul from Hell
One should be baptized and say vows
A man of pride with the Hammer told new God
To build his house on own
And spoke loud of the Gods of their fathers
Not too long time gone
The rumors said the man with a beard like fire
And the Hammer in chain
By men in armor silenced was and by
Their swords was slain
Those who did not pay the one coin
Of four to man of new God
Whipped was twenty and put in chains then locked
By their neck to the log (To the log)
And so all of Asa bay did build
A house of the cross
Every hour of daylight they did sweat
Limbs ached because faith does cost
And on the day two hundred
There it stood white to the sky
The house of the God of the cross
Big enough to take two dragon ships inside
And all of Asa bay did watch
The wonder raise to the sky
Now must the God of the cross be pleased
And satisfied
Just outside the circle of the crowd
One old man did stand
He looked across the waters
And blotted the sun out of his eyes with one hand
And his old eyes could almost see
The dragon ships set sail
And his old ears could almost hear
Men of great numbers call out Oden's hail
And though he did know already
Though he turned face towards sky
And whispered silent words forgotten
Spoken only way up high
Now this house of a foreign God does stand
Now must they leave us alone
Still he heard from somewhere in the woods
Old crow of wisdom say
People of Asa land, it's only just begun

This video contains the only existing footage of Bathory performing, as far as I know.
For real? How did that happen?
@@elliottsmiles170 i heard they burnt the vsh copies
@@elliottsmiles170 They stopped playing live in 1985, and I don't think their live shows were ever recorded

Masterful story-craft and historical world-building. And I will never, EVER tire of the call of OOOHS at 1:59.
Hail Quorthon, such a musical gem.
Hail Quorthon!!
You are Immortal!!
Timeless masterpiece! So deep and strong😊
super utwór greetings crom Poland 🎉
On this day (March 16th 2023) Bathory turns 40 years old, crazy.
Quorthon within just 20 years created 4 masterful Black Metal albums, 5 masterful Viking Metal albums and another 5 other albums not successful but good i'd say (2 Thrash, 1 Viking/Thrash mix and 2 Alternative solo albums)
and that's not even all, dude allegedly recorded many classical tracks from 1999 to 2000 but scrapped due to not sounding like Bathory and planned on some Gothic Metal material with his sister as well as a return to Black Metal in 2004 but died of a heart attack in june tragically, one last thing to say is that i read about plans of 80s demos to be compiled on a boxed set but that hasn't happened unfortunately.
Rest in Peace, Thomas Börje Forsberg, Most passionate metal artist i have ever seen.
When I heard Hammerheart in 1990, my jaw dropped, and to this day I can't lift it.
Simply the best metal music video of all time. You don't have a metal heart and soul if you think otherwise
For the love of God. This is magnificent
It' s a pagan metal song, not christian!
@@rositaberman1658 really? Thanks Einstein. I already know that.
@rosita berman I was probably listening to Bathory when you were still in your mom's uterus.
One of the best and most important metal songs of all time 🤘
Mother nature knows who are worth to enjoy it,
Forever Quorthon
10 years or more listening to this imortal hymn. One of best music i've heard in life
Master Quorthon. Rest in Valhalla friend
This song is true Viking Metal!
I rather listen to Viking metal then black metal
this song sounds exactly as this video looks
you know that quorthon didn't liked the result, right ?
Bathory 🤘🔥
Amazing song, outstanding band.Long live Quorthon, founder of viking-metal
the sign of the hammer
see you at the gates!
The pitch for a Bathory solo - unmistakeable
I've only found out about these guys four hours ago...but I swear you could divide my life into Pre-Bathory and Post-Bathory already! This fills a niche I've wanted for years!
I’ve known about them for a while, and liked some of the music. But this song, this song hooked me and I feel like I’ve changed since first hearing it.
And so the journey beginns...
A lenda nórdica

Jamais .será esquecida
Descobri essa banda um dia desses plo spotify, me amarrei
Prefiro Demônios da Garoa

seeing at BLACK METAL 14TH SATAN RITE
This song is sounds somewhere hall up high... Hail Quorton!
I was looking everywhere for this, Thank The Blasphemy for this upload!
The greatest video to exist
Such an amazing song that gives me chills whenever I hear it, both due to the music and the lyrics. The lyrics are timeless. Not only do they highlight why christianity was allowed to take root in scandinavia (and other places), they also highlight why evil and opression is allowed to take root in general, still to this day and into the future. It's the age old "if we do this they'll leave us be", but it is in the end never enough since they'll just ask for more and more the moment you start to give in or bend.
Goes back to that old saying "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile"
I just show this to my christian brother but he cant accept the reality and how yis religion expanded through ages and lands. This prpaganda standing for 2 thousand years and still ppl cant understand how fake it is.
WE MISS YOU MAN!!! 🖤🖤💯❤🔥🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🖤🖤💯
Inspirational great music. I'm still listening with the same spirit after all those years 🤘👏 awesome
