My old roommate never liked heavier music until I started inching it into his life song by song. Over the years I could see his depression grab more of his soul day by day and I realized music was his output. When I discovered this band and specifically this song and blared it through our speakers he immediately took hold to the words and it became his all time favorite. Another year or so went by and I had to move away for work. Without that positive influence I guess the depression took hold again and he ended up committing suicide a month after I left. He wrote me the night before he took his life and thanked me for showing him Amity Affliction and how they helped him through the hardest of times. I want to thank you for bringing a smile to my friends soul while he was with us and I know everytime I listen to this song a small piece of him is still with me jamming out in the room and smiling because life is just that much more bearable at the moment. Thank you
+Dalton Cundiff Check out the instrumental, I guarantee it will give you even bigger chills. /watch?v=HSi3xqx5Uoc. I heard them soundcheck just the instrumental before the show at riverstage and it was indescribable... then when I realised I could edit it from the DVD footage I was happy beyond relief
I've always found ahrens movement when trying to sing whilst playing bass very unique. It's like his body can move but his lips are held by some sort of magnetic force on the mic
Any time he sings a high note (ie his parts on the chorus) he jerks his head back to his right, like he's got a tic and it's sooo distracting. It couldn't stop noticing it at the show. It must help him reach the note by extending his vocal cords a bit or something. But I just think gee doesn't he get a stiff neck every show throwing his head back like he's got whiplash?
Thought I would visit back here to reminisce a little. This song dropped about 2 years in to the dark part of my life. this song and the album really dragged me through it for the most part. Went and saw them live in 2016 in Brisbane, then after that got married, 2 kids and life keeps getting better. Never thought I'd be here to say this but, I PROMISE you it get's better if you keep pushing even when you can't.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!1! I SWEAR EVER SINCE I LISTENED TO DEATH'S HAND FOR THE FIRST TIME I HOPED SO BAD THAT THEY'D MAKE A VIDEO FOR IT, MY LOVE FOR AMITY IS INFINITE
This song saved my life and I didn't even know it. It gave me something I didn't have, but wouldn't need until recently. Thank you for putting this into the world for me to find and guide me back.
Hey so ive been struggling with depression for a while now and i just wanna say thank you guys so fucking much for the music you all put out. I cant tell you how many nights ive stayed awake listening to your albums drunk as hell with a loaded gun or bottle of pills next to me. Really you guys are changing lives. thank you guys so much. Your music gets me through the day thanks. So much,
I saw these guys in 2017 at the Cleveland Agora..I was 46 (I took my 24 year old disabled son to see them)and I absolutely fell in love with this band. We saw MIW as the headliner. Great show.
The only reason why I mentioned my "Disabled son" was because he was trying to find himself musically. He loved Amity Affliction, he thought MIW was ok. I absolutely agree with him. Oh, I wanted him to see a band that I liked but all the old fvckers around me think I was too old for shows like that so...2 birds with 1 stone.
Its late at night almost close to dawn, haven't slept at all. I cant help myself but come back and listen to this jam cause its the only thing that screams hope in my life at the moment.
My friend, my Amity Affliction concert buddy, held Deaths Hand a couple of months ago. He had family and supportive friends, but this time, death's grip didn't let go. Who knows how many times he told death to get fucked, but there's only so much a person can take before they're well past their breaking point. This life can be so cruel sometimes. He was a great friend, passionate car guy, and wonderful husband and father. This song broke me today, singing along for the first time since he passed. These guys truly make some great music, and I only hope more people will discover them and hear their uplifting songs and hope that maybe it will give them the strength to pull themselves from abyss that is so easily fallen into.
I don't normally listen to bands like this but, this band is one of my favorites. I have recommended them to many people and would do so again and again. I absolutely love The Amity Affliction!
TAA saved me from suicide. TAA gave me the balls to get sober. TAA gave me the confidence to start working out more & more. Before them I was 307 with no hope and ambition. Now I’m 202 , a year sober & alive. We really don’t appreciate music as much as we think. Hey death, get fucked!
I remember hearing this for the first time as a suicidal 17-year-old. The line “Hey death, get fucked” hit me like a train when I first heard it; it gave me a sense of hope that I couldn’t find anywhere else at that point in my life. I’m way happier than I was back then, but this song and especially that line still have the same effect on me. It just reminds me how far I’ve come.
Am i the only one who listens to music based on the sound and the feelings i get from listening to it, not because the bands " not generic " or " really cool ". This song gives me goosebumps and i love the sound. Thats why i keep coming back to it. :)
that's the reason i listen to every band i like based on weather i like the sound and meaning behind the song not because the bands are different or popular or 'cool bands'
For the longest time I thought it said "I understand the feeling" Then I bought the shirt. It says "I held deaths hand this evening" Well, that makes a lot more sense.
I been slowly dying with heart failure and kidney failure for 7 years now. This song and a bunch of others are the reason i get up every morning. If i had one wish before i passed it would be to meet them and let them know how much they have done for me
po-o_i Cuz i was playing pokemon fire red and had 40 hours in it and my save corrupted for no reason. Also dad left me but i'm more concerned about the pokemon
I know taa won't read it but I want to thank them for give me power to live. I wanted to give up too quickly but they gave me strenght to keep on and give my best. And for this I want to say thank you for the good music
Yeah, all they're songs are pretty likable haha, personal opinion i guess, I don't mean young bloods the song (even though it was a fucking amazing song) i mean the whole album is just perfect.
Sometimes when I can't sleep and I to feel some not so good feelings I'll watch this video and I'll get tingles all down my spine and this song makes me happy all the time. It's so inspiring both lyrically and musically. Just all around amazing stuff
Even though I don't really listen to their music as much anymore, I always come back to this song when I feel overwhelmed by my emotions. It reminds me of the many times I dealt with my depressive thoughts, and their music was always my only source of comfort
Still remember the day I got this album on preorder. I may have moved on to different listening ventures but coming back to this... Amity will always have a place in my heart
"You're the ones to keep me going, I owe you this much. you gave me the strength to say: Hey, Death - get fucked" every time I hear this part I dedicate it to The Amity in my head. I am seriously here thanks to these guys.
2017 I had a big motorcycle crash. I nearly died in this and was badly injured. This Song talks from my soul literally. And it helped me through my depression. Love this great Song. One of their best. 🤘🏻

One of me and my sons favorite bands. Here I am at 58 years old blasting this..
I’m 46 and I just took my 18 year old daughter to see them a little while back and they were fucking amazing!
I love that growl after he says “I held deaths hand this evening” then the opening heavy riff begins and after the first chorus lol
Bro so do I! I literally said the same in my comment.
Its a "BLEAAGHHH"
Matt Duehring after listening to more metalcore I have learned that term lol, thanks tho
Totally gives me goosebumps
HE PUKED!!
The hardest part of this band is choosing which song is my favorite. I've been trying to decide since 2012
Dude i agree everytime someone asks what my favorite song i name 5 by them then another 3 then another 4
2023 and im still trying to choose
@E D I said that 5 years ago and I'm still feeling the same way
Listen to the new song It’s Hell Down Here
It's still the same way 5 years later lol
2:54 is goosebump-inducing. Holy hell, shivers every damn time...
I love spending time hating my life and listening to this beautiful song!

hm yeah i've never seen anyone do it like him
It's so epic, this is when you know they're your favorite band cx its awesome
+angiepie111 he is doing that so his highs don't sound really bad and make the mic equal its controlling the mic

Joel’s lyrics and screams are really deep you can feel the pain in it
This is the first song in a long time that's given me actual hope in a while. These guys really know how to make a song that hits your soul.
I promise I won't leave here
Don't let me die I'm fucking screaming
+Red Dootle holy shit i read that at the same time he sang it unexpectedly
+Dootle Cus ive got more life left to live, got some promises to keep.
+Dootle red members here this is cool

This is truly their most slept on song. This is by far my favorite
This song gives me chills. Not the bad chills, but the magical chills. I feel like I'm in a different world that's mine. It's a good feeling.
magical, like unicorn magical? :3
This is my saving grace through sad times, I will always gravitate towards Amity with their deep lyrics. Keeping me going through the hard times.

I don't normally listen to bands like this but, this band is one of my favorites. I have recommended them to many people and would do so again and again. I absolutely love The Amity Affliction!
This is one of their best...forest fire is one of the most under rated. Lyrically & Instrumentals. Its flawless.
3:02 probably one of the coolest things I've seen...goosebumps!!!!!!
This song always hits the heart

I love how well the opening of the song and video go together gives you the chills!
Seeing these guys live has been one of the most inclusive and emotional things I've experienced in my life so far.
To this day, still the sickest intro to a song ever.
The beginning of the song, the instrumentals have that feeling of impending doom/great meaning. It gives me chills but I love it. Keep it up.
I would recommend to anyone to see them live they are amazing!! this song and all fucked up gave me the chills
Am i the only one who listens to music based on the sound and the feelings i get from listening to it, not because the bands " not generic " or " really cool ".

Agreed this shit gets me amped
papakfmcnados king agreed
I do the same thing, if it sounds awesome and gives me the chills, I am ALL over it :)
You're not the only one dude.
For the longest time I thought it said "I understand the feeling" Then I bought the shirt. It says "I held deaths hand this evening" Well, that makes a lot more sense.
I always thought he said "I am death's hand descending."
I thought it said i hold deaths hand to save me ffs
@@ellasmith7058 me too omg!
My second favorite song by TAA!!! Open Letter being number 1
I been slowly dying with heart failure and kidney failure for 7 years now. This song and a bunch of others are the reason i get up every morning. If i had one wish before i passed it would be to meet them and let them know how much they have done for me

Well, I read it. Thanks mate x
When I first heard this band I thought they were boring, generic etc. but now I think that Ahren and Joel have the most unique vocals in this scene :)
I think you need to check out Youngbloods bro, I really like this album but nothing can top Youngbloods.
***** I've heard Youngbloods before and to be honest, I love every album they made. My favourite song's Pittsburgh :)
Yeah, all they're songs are pretty likable haha, personal opinion i guess, I don't mean young bloods the song (even though it was a fucking amazing song) i mean the whole album is just perfect.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to start an argument haha
