Another one I think people are sleeping on is Rank # 1999 Commander Eesha. A simple 2WW Bird Soldier with Flying and Protection from Creatures. And I think its due to the fact how people build it. Most play it as a typical Voltron Deck, using a bunch of equipments etc. But let me tell you, the way to play it is using the neat keyword Exalted. You pack the deck with a good amount of protection spells to keep him out. But even if your opponents get rid of Eesha, You just hit hard with one of the remaining creatures, who still hurt thanks to exalted. Sprinkle in some Enchantments to give attacking creatures vigilance, or double strike, and Eesha can get out of hand quickly. If you got more budget, you can even sprinkle in some better and more powerful options. I had so much fun piloting the deck, and people should consider it more with only 151 Decks on EDH rec, its truly underrated in my eyes
Patron of the Moon has combos upon combos upon combos. Besides all the landfall shenanigans and many ways to go infinite with Amulet of Vigor, beside the Mystic Sanctuary Time Warp infinite turns combo, he also turns some normally symmetrical cards like Mana Breach, Storm Cauldron and Sunder into "only I am allowed lands in play". A very underrated, if slightly mean commander.
There's actually a super spicy secret synergy with Sekki that people don't necessarily know about. Neither the damage prevention nor the spirit generation is actually linked to Sekki having counters on it! This means that increasing Sekki's toughness above 0 by any means, whether it's an aura or, say, an anthem effect (which a deck that poops out so many tokens probably wants in the first place), results in a commander that cannot die to damage and still churns out spirits. From there it's pretty trivial to generate a stupidly massive army with fight and Lure effects, both of which are plentiful in green
In lower power pods I could see some of these commanders being really fun but with how fast Commander is getting the game is already over by the time you get to cast some of these commanders.
I was thinking the same thing. I would say 5-6 cmc is probably the highest I would go for a commander. The stats for some of these commanders are pretty underwhelming for their cost as well. Great vid tho!
I mean, if you're in more powerful pods then making 10 Mana by turn 4 isn't hard either 🤷 I've turn 1 Kozi Butcher of truth with a god hand so the sky is truly the limit if youre talking about higher power pods
Always good to see lots of legendary creatures from original Kamigawa. And is still outrageous the way they change the Myojin's divinity counter to indestructible counter, flavor and lore wise.
Vilis goes well with dread presence 3B creature-nightmare Whenever a swamp enters the battlefield under your control, choose one -you draw a card and you lose 1 life -dread presence deals 2 damage to any target and you gain 2 life 3/3
My first edh deck, back in 2009, was Kamahl with a ton of forest tutors to the field and cards that double green mana from forests. I would get like 16 mana on turn 6 and start building my board and having 8 mana up to Armageddon any player trying to board wipe was awesome
If you use a feign death type affect on Kagemaro, it goes on the stack ahead of his ability and thus he dies to it. There's no way to prevent this as X is determined at resolution, so it always equals his P/T.
I really liked how you suggested cards and strategies. Old player (in the nineties), back in but it's very different and somewhat overwhelming! Any chance you could offer a video on The Swarm Weaver as Commander in a spider deck?
I am working on a Riku of the Many Paths deck and planning a deck about token artifacts, mainly clues, but also food. Then I´ll take a look at these commanders, they all look like great coices
surprised you didn't bring up agent frank horrigan, dude is surprisingly strong for a two color proliferate commander, his color combination actually allows for fast mana ramp and he can built another a ways due to how proliferate works. I actually like using him more then atraxa due to how explosive he can be.
Build a nezahal. Had 6 mana turn two. Liked the idea of having alit of mana rocks so I built a alestaria deck. Cast a historic create a 1-1. Pay 8 mana. Creatures get plus equal to number of historics.
The new myojin are a damn shame. I know, you can make them work, but its just not necessary that they need to be cast from your hand. Would be super fun reanimation targets too.
I feel like for most of these their placement is justified due to being far too expensive to cast. All these 7-8 mana commanders which then can immediate eat a removal and become 10 mana to cast... I wanted to build Tariel deck, but it just wouldn't work Nezahal might be an exception since he has a lot of integrated protection
Personally im not ever paying 7-8 for a commander just for it to die theturn it comes out but some of these like bontu and sakiko i run in the 99 of decks like meren

That sounds CRAZY spicy!
deck list?
I saw rank 1005 and immediately looked to see how long the video is again 😂
Glad I’m not the only one lol
Same here
I like Stenn on artifacts, blink it once you're done casting artifacts for your turn, then setting it to instants for your opponents turns
after this video these cards will not be sub 1000 rank... BAM infinite content glitch

Great concept for a video! Hoping this inspires more people (myself included) to build some different decks.
Thank you! I hope so too!

My first non-crappy deck was a Patron of the Moon Moonfolk tribal deck. Had it almost fully in foil. Sadly sold it and now I regret it very much
Tariel is the secret sauce that makes my Zurgo deck extra spicy. After one too many wipes the pool is DEEP!
Vilis goes well with dread presence 3B
creature-nightmare
Whenever a swamp enters the battlefield under your control, choose one
-you draw a card and you lose 1 life

3/3
i have a kazarov deck and ooooh my! never did i imagine that it could OS players the turn AFTER he is played and out of nowhere, he is a BEAST

I love the idea of Patron of the Moon deck, I have one stored away in my online decks lol
Vilis is one of my favorite commanders! So cool! 😈😈
Awesome vid , thanks.
Myojin of Cryptic Dreams is my MVP deck I love it so much
Blooming Dawn is really underrated as well
Deck list?
@@ryanwood4263I've been meaning to sit down and make one lol, I can try to get one posted when I get off work day

I've been playing Dralnu for quite some time and he's soo good for a control strategy. Totally underrated.
How do you win? I used to play him and outside of countering and control there is no win condition
I bought a copy of Skeleton Ship years ago and never went back and built a deck for it!
I would love to see you making a Budget Deck out of Sekki :D I love Kamigawa and I love Sekki!
Hey Mitch, you've literally been misreading that Erebos card for years. It's Erebos, BLEAK-Hearted dude 😂
Villis is my most powerful commander. Basically I win if it hits the field. It's just absolutely disgusting
The new myojin are a damn shame. I know, you can make them work, but its just not necessary that they need to be cast from your hand. Would be super fun reanimation targets too.
That Demon deserves a place in my dark bargain deck

tariel was the secondary commander to the original kaalia of the vast precon.

Jerren is a lot more rewarding to play for his front side’s token-creation. Ormendahl is just the cheap man’s yawgmoth
*reads an ability thats not very good*
“yea thats CRAZY good!” 😂😂😂
😂😂
Also fun fact Sengir the Dark baron and eligeth crossroads augur partner pair has only one deck on edhrec😂
Question about Tishana? If someone makes you wheel your hand will that destroy Tishana?
No, game state won't check # of cards in hand until after the spell resolves fully. So you discard, draw then game checks #.
@@kristiandahl1310 ok nice, that's useful to know
Imagine playing Dralnu and someone resolves a blasphemous act💀 rip land base
Never play 7 drop commanders, especially ones without green or any protection lol
To bad these commanders cost 50 billion mana to get out just for them to get removed by a little interaction
Lightning Greeves is the golden pig
Anybody know the commanders in the thumbnail?
A lot of these are just so expensive to cast though
Kaalia players use villis all the time, he’s just better in the 99
6829 Kshlerin Shores
I have Tariel in my Kaalia deck
Hrmm... I think i can get the skeleton ship to work...
seems like you just watched a bunch of Demo's videos from EDH deck building but them all into a list and called it a day. OOF
ok pal

Wow pure thrash as ever. Your advice is a meme all the time
Thanks Mitch, I suppose it is time to build those Myojin decks 😉🤍🩵
