Drakuseth, Maw of Flames is my personal deck that flies under the radar the first time someone sees it. Most people expect Dragon Tribal, but I basically built as an extremely efficient Big-Red deck with a lot of overall power, some amazing ramp engines to get Drakuseth out as fast as possible, and quite a few ways to make him absolutely devastating when he does drop, such as making him a one-turn kill and/or just utterly torching every potential threat on the board. 7 mana may seem like a lot, but once you see him drop several turns early and burn three things on attack, then untap for another combat, you might change your mind... And again, the nice part is it's not built to solely focus on him, so even if someone has an answer, we got a lot more threats left in the 99. I've dropped the guy swinging on turn 4 quite a few times with the current build, though my record is turn 2 with an older list that sacrificed consistent power for more ramp, and I know that turn 1 is possible with the right hand.
Don’t forget Sharrum, The Hegemon, if they play a blood artist effect creature that means that they intend to combo out with a copy creature effect and bring back sharrum infinitely them kill it with the legend rule
I picked up Noyan for this reason alone. It really makes my group think again about underestimating him. THIS IS WHY I RUN LAND DESTRUCTION!!! It's not cheap, it's effective.
Was really happy to see Noyan Dar, Taigam, and Vela as I have made decks for all 3 of them. In addition, I would like to add an addition to your list. Jolrael, Empress of Beast --- Focused on making your lands creatures and trample over your opponents. With some tokens and Landfall triggers mixed in. Also, she is an amazing deterrent to stop people from wiping your board when you get out of hand, as no one wants to be targeted with her ability during a board wipe.
I don't watch your stuff often, but I'm gonna leave a comment and a like since you covered Karn. I've had my now Kozilek, the Great Distortion (then Karn) deck for almost 10 years now and it is my pride and joy!
It really is. I had a list that was super gross, but took it apart cuz im not that mean. It was mostly just take a shit load of turns and use helm of obedience and rest in peace to exile my opponents library's.
15:30 Just for information, you don't need two creatures to loop; if you just have Menmite and Builder's Blessing, when Menmite dies you can target it with Colfenor ability; so: Memnite + static toughness boost effect + any sac outlet = inf loop.
Colfenor says: "Whenever Colfenor, the Last Yew or another creature you control dies, return up to one OTHER target creature card with lesser toughness from your graveyard to your hand." You missed the word "other". The creature that dies cant be the creature returned to your hand. You need 2 creatures to loop.
So I know its been a while since you started wearing it, but I just want to say thank you for wearing that "End Alz" hoodie. I live with my father who has Alzheimer's and any awareness that is spread about it, no matter how subtle, is always welcome.
People forget that even anthem effects still work with Colfenor, they last yew, it still works if you increase its toughness AND power, and there are A LOT more effect that affect both than just toughness so...its even more terrifying, especially with gutter grime because Colfenor doesn't say nontoken, and gutter grime can create a token creature bigger than the creature itself.
My favorite EDH deck is a Karn deck and dear god do I agree with you that he should be feared. There are some interesting things you can do with Conjurer's Closet too. It is also quite hilarious to animate a Sol Ring, equip it with several Sword of X and Y and swing a beefy Sol Ring at your opponents'.
A trick you missed with Colfenor is Death Render. It’s an equipment that, when equipped creature dies you can put a creature from your hand onto the battlefield with Death Render equipped, and equipped creature gets +2+2. Conveniently, Colfenor can put a creature from the grave into hand with the same trigger. And the boost to toughness means you can loop two creatures with the same toughness in the graveyard, and you can do it infinitely at whatever speed your sac outlet is.

Great video Mitch, keep them coming! I found Unesh a few year's ago and built a deck. It worked quite well as smacked my opponents with the cards that they chose for me. Quite fun! However, I'm going to pull Unesh out of retirement and build him according to this and surprise the heck out of my play group as I reintroduce them to Unesh. Thanks!
Lol, that Pheldagriff deck would literally never work in my playgroup. The answer would be a firm 'nope, you can give me a hippo but I won't promise to not use it against you' almost every time.
My buddies in my commander group fear my Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait commander deck. Of course it's not just the precon build. They were curious as to how well it would do against Edgar Markov in a 1v1 match, and I took out those weak vampires! lol
Pheldagriff is a decent covert shell to kill the table with infinite blue mana, which can be generated any number of ways. It can easily be a stealth Urza.
Mr. Hippo is also just a great card for bait decks in general, he was my commander for a Bant super friends deck, and his ability to block and pay a single blue to bounce and give a friendly draw card to someone who's not causing you problems usually let's you get up 5-6 walkers before the whole group realizes what you were actually setting up. Terrible card at it's time, but a god send for EDH with that futuresight.
I can attest to the power of Noyan Dar. I pulled him in my first pack of his Zendikar set, and made my second commander deck with him. That was years ago, And I've been improving it ever since, he's a bit pricey mana wise, at five, but if you use him properly, keeping him safe and secure, he makes your opponents cry. I've swung with a 3/3 land critter and then two instants later they're getting hit with a 9/9. Throw in Taigam and all of a sudden things are going even worse. I just put Octavia into it and it's HORRIFYING, they go from 3/3s to 8/8s with counters on them. A finely tuned Noyan Dar/Taigam is enough to break a table fast, at the very least get it flipped.
I initially scoffed at the idea of fearing Phelddagrif, but then came your explanation, and another very important fact: hippos *are* among the most dangerous animals alive.
Omg *Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist* never seen or heard of the card but one of my absolute favorite cards is the *vampire* Mirri the Cursed, and I knew it was the alternate reality version of some other Mirri card- but that’s all I knew. Huh, and both are 3/2 with First Strike... Actually on the surprised side. So cool to see the card and know the original is part of a evil strong deck, is cool...
As someone with a Colfenor deck, his effect is so ridiculously easy to abuse especially with X cost creatures. Built the whole deck around achieving a convoluted 4 piece combo and it's a blast.
Vis-sir-a seer. I know its a small thing but seriously, his flavor text is a pun because he's reading the guts of the creatures you sac to it. Also i love your vids because im uber budget so you save my commander experience
Yaayyyy!! I got the idea of Vela Eldrazi tribal last year, and was soo proud over it!! Haha only recently did I consider going Artifact tribal due to her second ability xP
Imoti celebrant of bounty. I think it gets better the even more budget you go. Lowering the powerlevel means a cheaper deck but also makes it even more powerful as those budget cards become better and with longer games of more long-term ramp it just gives more opportunities for imoti's effect to get insane value. Sure I'll cast a 9, then a 8, then a 7, then a 6, then a 4. Drew 4 cards got 25 free ritual mana., sounds nice. I actually like my budget $100 version more than my $800+ version that I both built online. And if I built a $30 version it would probably be even more powerful considering the low power level (and the lower power level table) of the high mana budget cards but the insane power imoti gives them.
I Play Colfenor in Mt Doran commander with things like Builder's blessing and fortifying provisions. I Use it as a truck that attacks every turn and when it finally fies, either from being blocked or from sacrifice, i'm taking back creatures like indulging patrician and Shadrix silverquill.
I would add in Prava of the Steel Legion paired with a Green commander. A +1/+4 boost to all their tokens only during their turn may at first look unassuming. But then you realize that all those tokens you’re blocking are less likely to die in combat due to their high toughness. Also, with Green they have access to cards like assault formation which let their creatures deal damage equal to there toughness. Now, those 2/5’s flooding the board become 5/5’s that will obliterate you. I’d also add Mowu. Blink for one second, and that 3/3 will become a 10/10 in no time at all.
Instantly clicked when I saw Karn. Only got back into MTG at the start of 2020 after about 10 years of not playing, and only really got into commander last September. Karn was the first deck I fully made on my own, meaning it didn't start from a precon, and it was the first deck I had a whole physical deck for. It started off a little weird as a life gain deck using cards like Eternity Vessel and Aetherflux Reservoir, but after playing it a bit I am kinda just liking the whole "Ramp like a maniac then get a bunch of big shit in" play and then turning all of those big artifacts into creatures. Edit: Should mention that I got lucky and picked up Karn just before it shot up back in February for $13, and also pulled a Mana Crypt (as well as two FoW's) from the 2XM boxes I got before they skyrocketed as well. Got some really good timing.
Alela, Artful Provocateur: cranial plating, answered prayers, brave the sands and sephara, sky’s blade. As well as all the 0 costing artifacts like: ornithopter, mix opal and spell book.
Old but criminals underrated at less than 200 decks on EDHrec is Marton Steomgald. 2 and 2 red for a 1/1 that upon swing, gives other attacking creatures +*/+* where * is the number of attacking creatures you control. Not once have I swung for less than 30 with my deck. Just pump out some mass tokens n go sideways. Craterhoof on a commander is pretty nice, especially in mono red.
I used to run Karn back in the day and I never considered using it with Micosynth Latice to just delete my opponents lands. I typically ran Memnarch to just take all their stuff, but yeah that sounds easier to do to just win a game.
I just realized my go-to 'ruin that deck's day' Zur deck can't actually use O-Ring to exile a land creature, so Noyan does have that in his favour. I mean, he'll be Oublietted very quickly, or just collapse into tears when Rule of Law gets set up, so I don't need to worry, but it is a funny interaction. Crappier cards that only target creatures (or creatures and artifacts) would work vs Noyan's land-dude, as does good old creature removal spells, provided they can target it. I think using Lotus Vale as your land creature seems a bit odd, but I suppose it can work decently with vigilance. Hexproof on a land is quite nice. White does have other ways to protect lands, so you can probably make Lotus Vale the safest permanent out there, fearing only weird ass cards like The Great Aurora or an exile wipe (a hexproof, indestructible land creature with high toughness is almost impossible to get rid of). I know about the power of Dovescape because I run it as a win con. It is a ton of mana at 6, but if it resolves, most decks can no longer win, and may not be able to do much other than make bird tokens, which isn't very threatening in cEDH with all tiny spells. I guess Ad Naus makes 5 1/1s, that's something? I'm now curious about Taigam for cEDH... he looks really nifty, offering a color pair that loves instants big perks, and there are a lot of things you can do with him obviously. I love how you can set things up so your creature spells can't be countered, just make them all Dragons (and be glad nobody runs Crux of Fate in cEDH), so if you have a creature/spell combo, you can make it immune and hopefully win. You might need to protect Taigam, but you only need to counter any given spell once with him out, which is just a huge boost in cEDH I feel like, where getting a counter to stick can be awful. You could even try to win through stuff like Talrand, who makes 2 Drakes per spell potentially, which is a ton of value if you can set it up (White can find Talrand I think, giving you a few ways to dig for him or another token generator). I guess the 'traditional' cEDH route at this point is infinite extra turns via Mystic Sanctuary, which is probably quite a bit better, but just being able to stop anyone else's win sounds swell enough to build around, and the double spell is just amazing, feeling completely unnecessary on an otherwise fine Commander already.

Yaayyyy!! I got the idea of Vela Eldrazi tribal last year, and was soo proud over it!! Haha only recently did I consider going Artifact tribal due to her second ability xP
I feel Syr Konrad is also a sleeper because his trigger tracks all creature cards as they move through zones
It's brutal, a friend of mine plays him in his Hogaak deck
I've lost many times to it
Imoti celebrant of bounty.
"But because my friend is evil you're gonna cast Omniscience instead"
at first my play group thought my marrow-gnawer commander was adorable, until I made “infinite” rats lol
Awesome video, Noyan Dar is such a unique commander!
Thank you for the inspiration! How about Noyan Dar + Taigam! On curve and more instants and sorceries each turn.
This video was AWESOME! This inspired me to try and build a new commander deck!
noyan is one of my personal fav commanders
Always good to see noyan dar get some love
Alela, Artful Provocateur: cranial plating, answered prayers, brave the sands and sephara, sky’s blade. As well as all the 0 costing artifacts like: ornithopter, mix opal and spell book.
Good to see my favourite tree boy is getting some love
Unesh is one of my favorite Commanders.
What can man do against such RECKLESS VALUE!
Hello There im back
Can you make a deck around Siona, Captain of the Pyleas
I have to admit, that last build would make my group groan so hard, that they would deal X damage to each creature without flying and each player.
Been running noyan dar for years now. My deck is awful so I'd like to see your take on it. Edit: why the hell was I not running Darksteel citadel
It isn’t fair Three decks I Owen Plus one I was planning to build have been exposed to the public
Also just a question which of these in a pod against other decks from the list is the scariest ?
Great! Now everyone's gonna know about taigam lol. He is one of my favorite commanders and he is so unknown by most.
No! My Roil Shaper was my sleeper deck! You can't tell them about it! Lol
Early bird as special?
Ive had a Karn since i picked one up for my collection pre pandemic when he was only 15 bucks or so. Cant wait to brew it up!
Same i was able to trade for him just because i liked the card
Prices are getting crazy now
Thank you for Dream Halls. I need to add that for my Imoti Big Spells.
It's nutty! Be warned it's one of the dreaded Reserved List cards. I traded for my copy a number of years ago back when it was more budget =|
@@eddie_cq8276 Yeah that is one of my fears. But I only need one copy and I can always slide it around in different decks. It is very expensive sadly.
