Love that you left in the clip of you spilling the fert. It’s real life. Mistakes happen and it’s all too easy to edit out the mistakes to give the illusion of perfection. Im good for a couple goof ups each growing season as a DIY’r. Great video as always.
I literally just spilt fert on Thursday lol. I mowed and threw down some urea, and as I was opening the shed with the fert in my hands, the top of the bag tipped over and split out. I was rushing just like u cause I wanted to sit down. Lesson learned
Looking great man! I'm going to try straight urea next year...the kind you get in 50 lb bags at the farm supply store. In my opinion, urea produces the best color.
Yes I have, and that’s probably what I should have done…if I was not filming it. The rain would have washed it in. However I wanted to show how to make it a liquid to spray. It does seem to uptake quicker. Like injecting medicine instead of swallowing it.
You want to use a luggage scale for measuring the weight in a bucket... Works way better for measuring granular... Only use the kitchen scale for liquid applications
Well it’s capable to do pounds, however it’s just smaller. I get your point and you are right, but as I mentioned, you need to adjust it from ounces to pounds.
Man that spill was hard to watch. I got a little half-gallon container that fits on the scale rather than the big 5-gallon, but I just pour it into my tank and mix it inside my backpack sprayer with the drill. It might be easier to balance with a small container, like something you get when you buy stuff at the deli.
I've done it on my wife's scale, holding the bucket and doing the math...it's all good, just need a bigger scale or more brains to NOT pour it while its on the scale...
This is the second time I've added N, first time was about 2 weeks ago. It all depends. You can go super small shots more often, or really heavy N shots less often.
Wouldn’t it be better that it didn’t rain since spraying is a foliar application you want it to stay on the leaf and be soaked in by the plant. If it was put down via the granular then you would want it to rain to soak into the ground to start working.
@MrFergusonLawn . I'm a total newbie. I know how to calculate the N per 1k of lawn but how would I covert it to gallons. Do i just have to experiment how much gallons it takes me to cover my lawn evenly?
Don't throw what you spilled away , just mix it as usual and when you pour it in your sprayer strain it through an old pair of stockings or cheese cloth.... Anyway children please don't rush your dad.

Thanks my friend! 100% human here haha
When you spilled the HCU, i felt that to my core. I Hate when that happens. Do it long enough and its bound to happen.
Oh yea…you are right!

It's not uncommon that's for sure!
Looking good as always brother!!!
Thanks meat man
How do you know and calculate how much water to add to the Urea?
Thanks
Wow! Sure glad you were in the shed and not the grass when you spilled. Lawn is looking good.
Me too!!
Been there done that, I spilled my grass seed last year on my driveway. It happens!

I would have to agree
Why go through the process of turning it into a liquid if you were pressed for time?Have you ever just spread it as a granular?

I felt that frustration to the core of my soul
#BeenThereDoneThat 😇
Lol..I mean it stinks, but I actually wasn't too mad. Just happens!
I love your self control 😊😊. I would not have been so calm. Still working on it. Hahaha 🤣🤣.
Trust me...it's all Jesus haha. Before Him, I wouldn't have acted like this. He's brought me a loooong way!
Appreciate you filming the process of spraying HCU... If we spoon feed the Urea , do we have to water it in? Thank you
I think it helps, but I don't believe it's a must. I've done it both ways and honestly I'm not sure I can tell a difference in watering in versus not.
Will the HCU spray stain sidewalks and driveways ? Thanks
I’m not sure honestly, but I wouldn’t think so.
Going to put down some 18-0-1 green punch on my new Reno can I mow then put it down and water or should I mow a few days prior? Thanks Mr Ferguson
I believe it’s best to mow, then wait a day or so. However it depends on your time. Mowing then applying is fine if it’s all you can do.
I just screamed out!!! I felt the pain
You and that HCU. At least it wasn’t on the actual lawn again! Grass is looking good.
Exactly. Just lost a couple lbs. not a major loss.
There are two kinds of lawn nuts; those that have spilled something and those that will. Guess which camp I'm in!
Haha, I will try NOT to make a habit of this....
Beautiful lawn and beautiful daughter btw 😊
wtf is wrong with you. Comments like this are why people keep their family off the internet.
@@tomenright9the real question is WTF is wrong with you taking my compliment in that direction? Are you serious?
@@TheDylan6908 lol everyone that makes comments like that thinks it’s okay and everyone else knows otherwise.

When should I apply urea? I'm in the lower peninsula of Michigan
When the grass is coming to life…so when soil temps are getting in the 60s or so I would say.
@@MrFergusonLawn Great, thank you!
Never use a 5 gallon bucket on a small scale. I use a measuring cup to scoop my product into a gallon kool aid pitcher while sitting on the scale.

New scriber here. U a real guy. Normal ..gd to watch. .ty
How often do you do that? I live in ohio.

What kind of stirring drill bit is that?
Link in description. Paint stirrer

I honestly dont know that it makes a difference. I think your statement is correct, but watering it in isn’t necessarily bad either.
@@MrFergusonLawn there is no bad way to do the right thing!
That backpack is 1 gallon? Looks bigger.
If it's the flowzone, it's a 4 gallon. If it's my old sprayer plus, it was a 2 gallon.

I just sprayed urea today. Lol
The most relatable deep breath in mens history lol

Great video
Been there. Not fun. I'd have thrown a few objects and said some not so nice words. Great vid as always.
lol thanks Neal
Bro take a gallon of pool shock and a gal of water and spray that patio. Looking kinda grimy. Enjoyed the video though!
Also why don’t you spray more ammonium sulfate over urea that far less stable. And lowers ph which I believe you had a slight issue with.
