I admit, it would change the game considerably, but it might keep folks coming back for more after they've exhausted the maps.

Instead of remaking it why not just remastered it like tomb raider 123. Also port the control from file 2 on to file 1

i think that is what resident evil resistance was supposed to be. Not the entirely imposter part, but an oppossing player to spice things up.
Outbreak does get solved, and it becomes more of a run it again, know where each random spawn could be, and clear the stage as fast as you can. It would be fun early on, but getting pretty boring and bland.
A solution, is if they were a live service and DLC game. I am not particular in favor of that, but it would be a way to add in new maps, mechanics, rebalances, and introduce new elements. I think they choosed the resistance route, so that ppl won't get bored with an oppossing player creating new game flow each time, without having to heavily work on it for content. Just the occassional content update leisurely.
I think resistance failed, because the truth is that the online market for this type of game is really not that big. I speculate that the real larger audience and people who thoroughly enjoyed it mostly enjoyed the offline play, and it is mainly the vocal minority talking that comes from the online side is why we ended up with resident evil resistance. You see the numbers, and either
      A. people who talked about more outbreak online stuff enver touched it
      B. There are barely anyone who plays it because online and pvp/avp wasn't the main draw for why they loved the game.
I for one, enjoyed the offline experience mainly, due to not having ps net back then. In hindsight now, I would have likely not liked the online play. I learned to play around the AI and abuse them. I learned how to clear the maps, how to management items and item spawns, and deal with all the situations the game had to offer.
Truth be told, I would hate a imposter mechanic in the game, and would not touch the game. It would be nothing like the original outbreak, and i would not enjoy getting screwed by social gameplay in a game that I am trying to clear objectives.

@@cloudsombrero Yeah, I realized it was the wrong area I mentioned after playing again later, bad memory sorry.
Yes, the officer in RE3R says I am trapped near the cafeteria with three other survivors but does not mention his name. I do not believe, nor could I find if capcom ever came out and confirmed if it was him or not. Although, I have seen videos/info online imply that if it is Kevin, he would be from Outbreak File #2 in the Zoo Level at the Elephant Restaurant. Why I think it can be Kevins voice is because first Capcom gave us an easter egg in RE7 with a file named "Newspaper Article - Over 20 Missing" written by Alyssa Ashcroft. So, with a character name drop after so long I thought for sure they were working on an Outbreak Remake but no. Then they teased me again when playing RE3R, there is a poster for the Elephant Restaurant in the streets of Raccoon city and then hearing what I thought was Kevin's voice (I want to believe that's him) and thought okay for sure this time they're working on a remake, but still no..

The server means are even open source so they could easily work on that; given it is by default their property.

Man...Outbreak was special to me. I was a PS2 Final Fantasy XI player so I had the Hard Drive and Ethernet necessary to enjoy OB 1 and 2 at peak performance. I would often switch back and forth between both and sort of lumped them together. Whether by luck or not I ended up falling in with a group of older players who showed me the best way to enjoy the game. We mostly got on there to shoot the shit with each other then when conversation hit a lull...we would do a scenario run on Very Hard mode. Everybody was mature so the conversation was definitely of higher quality, and all of us were veteran RE players capable of splitting objectives up and crushing scenarios or getting others SP items for the char skins (I was a tradesman IRL, so Club attire David was my go-to). The beauty of Outbreak (and Final Fantasy 11 as well) was that they were games with a pretty steep difficulty curve and the people who got the most out of those experiences were those who had a hold on their ego and could work cooperatively with people often of vastly different cultural backgrounds. Both games fostered some pretty deep and long lasting friendships for me.
Multiplayer games are always nothing more than a playground, and the quality of the experience is directly related to the quality of the people you roll with. And I was truly fortunate...as both Outbreak and FFXI got me to meet some of the best people a guy could pal around with all around the US. Some of whom became lifelong friends I am connected to even over a decade later.

I'm not a huge fan of co-op online play, but I am a huge Resident Evil fan.
I remember buying the network adapter just so I could play this. You would have to wait in the lobby FOREVER before the match would start. But once it got going it was okay.
I really want Capcom to remake this because of how far online play has come. Also not just that but if you choose offline. The AI has increased drastically so your computer controlled teammates won't be dumber than a box of rocks.
All in all, if they remake it....I'll buy it. But this is also coming from someone that actually liked to RE3 remake.
I just want to see the beautiful updated graphics.
To me these games are works of art and definitely deserve an update.
Outbreak was, as you said, geared toward more of the common citizens of Raccoon. What would you and I be like in their situation? Would you work in tandem with your group or everyman for himself?

Just leave the damn formula alone! Outbreak is fucking amazing because it was an RE game that played like an RE game with randomized loot, more enemies, respawning enemies and no pausing menu. It doesn't need to play loke project resistance or goddamn dead by daylight. It needs to play like re2 remake with the above features + character specific/Non game breaking abilities like a dodge or kick as the original. DONT FICK WITH SOMETHING THAT WORKED. You'll just break it.
It's perfectly repayable. That's why many of us STILL play it. The same reason we STILL play the main titles. Plus in Outbreak you could kill your teammates if you chose too. You don't need a set imposter role when anyone can just decide to be a dickhead and murk you for your ammo

However I think that they should release a good and complete game, so no day one dlc or any weapon dlc to give an edge on other players. Include a proximity chat and up the horror, to keep communication but limit it. More enemies that can follow around to up the moment to moment horror. And make new enemies if theyre gonna reboot the whole series why limit to remakes of existing monsters, this is the time to get creative and add new lore and enemies. Keep story and cutscenes and dont make their personalities characatures like in back 4 blood. And maybe include a pre re4 merchant to buy little tools that can help you before the start or during a level,if during a level dont make him a guarantee. Keep dlc cosmetic and affordable and I think co op should be max 4 players. This is a time to be creative so introduce new maps we havent seen after the ones we have seen as DLC , keep it affordable 10$ for a new mappack every few months wouldnt be awful. This whole setting can be used to make new characters and stories so like that in of itself could be a big selling point with fans.

A remaster or a remake with just a simple camera and movement change. Keep the traditional RE combat system that is influenced by abilities and items stats.
What made outbreak great was the game being traditional RE survival horror on its highest difficulty. Even without online multiplayer, the game was a great single player experience that just need fixing of the AI partners and load times.
Outbreak main focus is Player vs environments and any player vs player interaction can be justified as zombification or people being destructively selfish during a disaster. Working together, survival on your own (lone wolf mode)or using your partners as meat shield are all viable options that reflect player’s choices and skills. If a team mate is being an unreasonable asshole be glad friendly fire is an option as you kill them and loot their bodies. Outbreak reminds folks that our characters are ordinary people with no plot armor and there are multiple endings to reflect that.

Without saying with today tech load times, should be gone voice chat should be proxie, and the big one 3rd person camera(gross I know)
With the expanded maps should have 6 item slots. Some should take up 2 space ie shotguns.

Also, Capcom could easily monetize RE Outbreak since, as I remember, RE Outbreak used to have a marketplace where you could buy characters/art/etc. with points earned by replaying the scenarios; they could put all that content behind a goddamn (😂) battlepass or marketplace (sadly, that gaming today). I think Scavenger / Open world type of game could be a good base for Outbreak remake. Explore the raccon city, survive the outbreak, gather resource to help you escape the city. And each scenario can be turn into dungeon or mission.
Think of it as Village and 2 Remake combine into one game. You can running around the city , gather more resource , or clear the mission to get even more reward that could help you improve the chance of survival.

Resident Evil Outbreak stands out as one of the most unique entries in the zombie genre. It captured something truly special-those chaotic first hours of an outbreak. That’s exactly what I want in a zombie game. I want to experience the horror from a fresh perspective, not through the eyes of trained cops or secret agents, but from ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances.
It’s surprising that no one has fully explored this concept in a game or even a movie. Creators often overcomplicate things when all I really want is simple, raw horror-pure survival in the face of chaos. No elaborate conspiracies, no super-soldiers, just the terror of trying to make it through as the world falls apart around you. That’s the kind of experience I’m craving!

For me This game was always my favorite and I always considered it way ahead of its time. These games managed to capture the fixed camera angle survival horror og feel with the fun of playing with friends. My cousin and I played it and we spoke over our boost mobile walkie talkie phones lol. So much nostalgic feelings from this video. I would love to see this remade with and upgraded form of the original including all the cut content, then a modern version. I always thought an open world re game but with old school mechanics would be amazing but I know thats an extremely niche group. Thanks for making this video I hope that it happens.

Only one thing: You mean 10 Scenarios if you count Outbreak: File #2 since both Outbreak games canonically take place from the 24th up to October 1st.

    • @Aethernium
      @Aethernium Рік тому +1

Majority of the scenarios take place before the first half of RE3 [2020], though. I think that a remake could theoretically work, we would just need to place Desperate Times at a point where it lines up with Carlos showing up at the R.P.D., but the characters need to be elsewhere for it to make sense. Like the Cutscene of Marvin getting bit by Brad will auto trigger sometime after the event of us getting Rita into the statue, not sure when, but the rest of the playthrough of Desperate Times still goes on, however, I think some changes need to be made for the end part of the playthrough where it's a time consuming battle between us and the Zombies. We would have too set up the plywood boards at the other doorways/corridors near the main gate. The only difference(s) for the other scenarios is:
      In Canonical Order
      Outbreak comes first
      Hellfire comes second
      Wild Things comes third
The Hive [Raccoon General, or Spencer Memorial from the Remakes all 8 Characters come together] comes fourth
Below Freezing Point [NEST, the 8 characters stick together.] comes fifth
Desperate Times [R.P.D. The 8 Characters stick together for] comes last
[^ These are all of the scenarios that originally happen in canonical order before Jill finds Marvin unconscious in the Police Station. So the way this will work is that Desperate Times should take place on the 29th when Carlos heads to the Station with Tyrell.]
In Canonical Order after Desperate Times:
Flashback [Two of the side characters dies just before this Scenario starts.]
Flashback [You're probably thinking.."Wait, again?". Yes with good reason, because it's actually here that the 8 characters are split up after the R.P.D., where 4 Characters go into the abandoned hospital, and the other 4 just arrive at the Cabin. This event of the split up is actually caused within the same event where two of the side characters die. In this part of the scenario, you actually don't go across the bridge and instead wait inside of the Cabin until a cutscene is triggered. The difference for this part of the scenario should be triggered canonically via which characters you play as. If you play as Alyssa, then the cutscene that plays is the guy who enters the Cabin, where as if you play as David the cutscene is different and actually shows the bridge collapsing.]
Underbelly [It's the same team from the 1st Flashback. Here it is Dusk because it took them a long time to get back to the city from the Arklay Forest. Underbelly's intro cutscene is them running through the Horde and end up in the subway. This is also the night where Resident Evil 2 takes place and the night Marvin originally wakes up long after Jill leaves the R.P.D.]
Decisions, Decisions [v Both scenarios take place at the same time. Team A's lead is George. Team A consists of George, Yoko, Kevin & Alyssa. After the events of Flashback, the Team heads back to the R.P.D. where it's in shambles due to the massacre from the Zombies from Desperate Times. The R.P.D. is overrun with the undead so going topside into the station is very dangerous. They instead go into the Parking Garage where George finds a letter from Peter Jenkins and that's what leads them to the Raccoon University. After the explosion of the university, it's the same Firefighters from Hellfire who comes to pick you up at the end of the scenario]
End of the Road [^ Both scenarios take place at the same time. Team B's lead is David. If you did the Flashback Scenario as David without crossing the bridge and helping the mother, David should immediately spawn in with the Shotgun E that the mother gives him. Another change that needs to be made is that the child shouldn't be left behind since the mother got infected while she and her daughter were on the run. Maybe bring them both along to the Umbrella Facility. After Underbelly, Team B heads to one of the branches/facilities of Umbrella for an alternate means of escape from the city. I believe that this is either the main topside facility of NEST 2 from RE3 [2020], or it's possibly the facility the USS goes to in Operation Raccoon City to obtain the Ne-a Parasite from the incapacitated T-103 but on October 1st. (That's my theory for End of the Road's Umbrella Facility. I'm not saying that ORC is canon or anything, but this could technically work out by remaking some events from the game to be canon from Umbrella's perspective into Outbreak. Kills two birds with one stone.]
The ending cutscene for Outbreak File #2 is only partially non-canon, the Nuke used to destroy the city is actually the one from the first Outbreak. So the only change that needs to happen here is that maybe turn those into drone strikes to destroy the thruways earlier on in the remake of Outbreak. Maybe bring back Ghost Survivors but actually make it canon to the story this time like 4th Survivor by focusing on key canon characters and what happened to them off screen, like how they lived or died.

    • @Aethernium
      @Aethernium Рік тому

No, because then it won't make sense story-wise.@@deaniussssumner89But I do see where you're kind of going with this, though, from a couple of prequel scenarios kind of perspective. James Marcus was the official Super Villain who puts the Outbreak in motion, technically, within the Arklay Forest/Arklay Mountains by causing an outbreak at the Mansion & The Ecliptic Express. That seems more like a controlled environment/controlled outbreak compared to an actual large scale outbreak like what happens in Raccoon City which canonically story-wise, it happens before Resident Evil 3. So having the game story-wise start and end only between Resident Evil Zero & Resident Evil, or even start before Resident Evil Zero doesn't make sense in the slightest. But prequel scenario DLCs that take place before Resident Evil Zero would work for sure. The viral outbreaks that occur at the Spencer Mansion & The Ecliptic Express all happened long before the official game of Resident Evil Zero begins. So Prequel DLCs would definitely work as long as Resident Evil: Outbreak File #1 & File #2's main 10 scenarios still take place within Raccoon City on the 24th of September through the 1st of October.

Each character had their pros and cons and we kept trying our best despite our lack of skill playing the game. 15:44 another cool thing about your idea (unlike among us) is that the imposter still has the same objectives as the other survivors, to not die, so if you are an umbrella spy you need to balance killing off your allies, not getting caught AND making sure you can still survive the level with the remaining team members you’ve got ( maybe you could secretly infect a teammate with a virus that activates 2 missions later so you could set up characters to die as specific chapters but letting you keep them around to help you reach that point) maybe there’s like a 1/20 chance that you will be a saboteur but that’s not limited to one player and you could have up to 3/8 characters be traitors

I first played Outbreak file #2 when I was around 6 years old. I would get my dad's phone and jam to some music while I played it. I still play it now as a 20 year old, but I will say that what keeps me coming back and actually having fun is nostalgia. So I totally get your argument that it simply wouldn't be enough for modern audiences. I mean, games nowadays have crazy good graphics and people expect a lot more. Honestly, I would be fine if capcom just ported them to current gen, but what I would like in a Remake... I would say try and keep the things that made it unique in the first place. The characters, the virus gauge, ad lib. Obviously some things need to be changed, but I think if they focused heavily on story and went about it like they did in Revelations it could actually work. The Outbreak series were some of the first and most memorable games I've ever played, I would love to see them remade one day. I've been waiting for a little over a decade now

  • @ArkTheDM
    @ArkTheDM 5 місяців тому +2

I would simply say a graphical overhaul plus new levels would be all the game would need to properly succeed. Maybe not to MASS appeal. But it would have its market in coop survival horror. Hell maybe they could simply make a file 3 in the same style of RE2Remake in terms of controls, but have a "Missing files" bonus unlock or DLC that is just straight up the original 2 games as an unlock for beating File 3's last level with online working and everything.
Yes the gaming market has changed but that doesn't mean you have to change everything. There is a space for older designed games. You can just look at how well RE1 Remake Remaster for PC and modern consoles did, from what I remember it sold extremely well.

      1. One of the best things I thought about playing this originally on PS2 was the lack of communication. It made it so much more challenging having such a limited amount of responses. To capture that difficulty but not irritate the players is maybe either have 2 variable modes or randomize everything regardless of how you decide to play. Open comm mode could be using discord, party chat, etc and guarantee every item be randomized. Fixed comm modes could be used to minimze certain key items but still have some randomization. If players choose to do fixed com and still use party chats then they can ruin the experience for themselves. If gives them that choice. Plus I think players choosing that option could be using it for maybe speedrunning.
      2. I think most people would not be a fan of tank controls and fixed camera angles, but to allow players to experience the game as intended then again more modes should be optional. Allow tank control mode for an original feel vs 3rd person mode to see things like RE Remakes/DBD.
      3. Monetization is a potential problem unless kept in check. Having cosmetic options is always a great idea because it means you dont NEED those things to change how the game plays. You could use purchasing options though for additional maps, maybe a few new characters, and for sure character cosmetic options. When DLC is REQUIRED to play my game, it becomes a problem. If I can EARN like 90% of the items available just by playing or can fast track by just purchasing then I don't think it's that bad. The fact that the series has expanded further beyond Outbreak's 1/2 locations allows for dlc locations to thrive. Imagine being survivors caught by Lucas Baker just trying to escape a massive puzzle trap using his home and surrounding area. Being on the ship Mia was on as the Mold start to attack the ship. Trapped inside House Beneviento hallucinating as you try to escape. These ideas aren't obviously perfect but I truly feel like they hold some potential.
      4. I really love the among us idea but I think that would have to be restricted to higher survivor count and recovering memories maybe 1/4 into the level. That way nobody can really hold any suspicion until some sort of progress is truly made. I also believe the concept of creating obstacles is awesome, but it should remain that the "sleeper" player also needs to try and escape. Make it so they help progress the escape process but are actively trying to be the ONLY survivor by the end.

I have many ideas shared on the internet and square enix AND capcom have listened to them. So hear me out once again. The reason they have failed SO MUCH was because they tried way too hard to find their goose with golden eggs that the final product ended up not being something near as RE. What i'd do if i was a capcom director? First, remake the file 1 and 2 from outbreak. Second, correct the mistakes from these games like that crap of an inventary. the way the npcs communicate, the fact that you are ALREADY infected even though not a single zombie ever touched you, plus, adding some voice channel (some people dont like to use discord, team speak or skype). I would call this "resident evil outbreak the complete files". And third: dont launch DLCS or micro-transations. People hate these. I know, i know, you guys from capcom want to stay on the green but these golden-multiplayer-games are one within one million. You guys are good at making stories and dynamic and fluid gameplay. Stick to your formula. If you want to make money faster, then use AI to create more 3D models mixing up your RE Engine with that tech, just using human hands to correct any mistakes. At some point this will even get automatic, buying you a lot of time.

Before "Overwatch" there was a HL2 mod called "Overwatch". In this mod, a group of players would try to complete a level in first person while one other player would have an RTS view, controlling all of the zombies and special enemies with the goal being to stop them. Other games have done this but that mod always stuck with me.
What if they remake Outbreak in the third person style then just give another player the ability to control all the zombies and special enemies and their goal is to stop them.
Even if you're doing the same scenarios over and over, the other player messing with the enemies could make each scenario unique.

I have an idea for how to make the "imposter/antagonist" thing work for Outbreak!
First of all, I'd rather not have any of the 8 main characters be the antagonist; I'm kinda set in my ways in having them all be helping one another. But instead, I say we use the antagonists that the game already offers. Example:
"Below Freezing Point" has Monica, who is established as a murdering psycho up to no good. Whoever is playing her can start off in the security room that will show where all of the other players are. This, along with the fact that Monica is already armed, and has stolen Yoko's ID card, gives the enemy player a significant advantage over the others. When playing as Monica, the idea is to escape the lab - and to do so before the others do, leaving them to be eaten by Hunters.
"Decisions, Decisions" would be similar, only this time with Greg Mueller as the antagonist. He also would start off in the security room at the university so the player can see where everyone else is. Plus, Greg has control over the Thanatos Tyrant, so his goal is to simply kill the other players.
"The Hive" would be has the Leech Man, giving players the opportunity to not only play a literal monster, but to also play a character who go through the duct systems. As for how the other players can kill the Leech Man (who no doubt would be too smart to be lured into that one heater room), there can be a flamethrower gun that they can unlock in a certain level.
"Desperate Times" can give us Chief Irons, since he was the one who set out those "nerve gas bombs" or whatever they were, all over the precinct. After all, the files in RE2 made it clear that Irons was busy sabotaging his own police force while the outbreak occurred, so why not get the opportunity to play that all out?
"Flashback" would be similar to "The Hive" in that the antagonist player would be the Crazy Ax Man/Al Lester. His goal would be to kill the other players and feed them to the plant.
I'm not sure about the other scenarios, though. Either new characters can be made up, or currently existing characters can be made evil/crazy?

This video was hilarious and informative. I never played RE: Outbreak due to needing a network adapter and internet connection. I couldn't be bothered with any at the time (I lived in dorms). This would be a perfect game to remake on current gens.

This is a good opening to this conversation.
While I love Resident Evil Outbreak I recognize the replay ability would be an issue, same with keeping a fresh take.
While I understand fans not wanting it to change, as you said micro-transactions and changes would need to be made for the game to remain relevant and boost profitability.
My take, they try to make a massive open Raccoon City that can be played solo but would also welcome multiplayer. With multiplayer being available on main missions and open world.
The game could be set obviously during the outbreak, but monthly or quarterly dlc that expand on this. Not what suicide squad did but more so a mesh of destiny and Fortnite.
It could appeal to those who want the older horror center play style but also those who want a faster multiplayer experience.
What needs to happen is the enemies would have to seriously out power the players. Zombies shouldn’t just bullet sponges but incorporate the lore and turn into crimson heads, forcing the players to deal with the zombies more seriously. Lockers and hunters and other mutations should be spread out in a way that encountering one makes the player double think just going in guns blazing while not being a drag that no one wants to play.
Something along this line set in unreal engine along with updated maps and a fully developed city map. I think they could make it work.
Obviously the painful part is dlc and micro transactions, but to keep it fair it should be for skins, weapon skins, and other cosmetics that provide nostalgia more than anything. Like say various skins for Alyssa Ashcroft aside from her classic red, or Yoko having umbrella themed skins. Obviously the game should incorporate skins to find in the game.
I think if they followed that format and stuck to it, we could see a good Outbreak Remake.

I really like idea of the maybe imposter. I was a big fan of outbreak, and they did have a "mode" like an imposter mode like this for outbreak. It was Friendly fire mode it was the hardest way to play the game. It often turned into a death match. Some people, even titling the game death match , it was very intense at times and turned into a last standing. Imo this game is the game that inspired all the others, like dead by day light and among us. It had issues, but it did make players use Mark and Jim types more usful as heros not unlike other games today. They can add modes inspired from all the previous games in this tone take the popular look and feel from them even maybe adding parkur. Re6 did also have a mode that let one player play as the monster it was fun and had interesting features that made it stand out but had a number of things that made it unbalanced when veterans abused exploits. Capcom was always so ahead in this new space it wasnt also know for proper quality assurance. I feel when the newer games came out they dumbed and toned down any elements too hard/more costly to properly balance. With lessons learned outbreak in mostly it's original formula adding from the others successful strategies could definitely make it new and fresh. It could be a smash hit for many if they find the right niche for cost for enjoyment. A free to play release for the game and its basic features could be a start. Price points and separate modes added as people should pay for a quality game could be a good way for people to buy the experience they prefer without it seeming like they must purchase the entire experience. I feel like a new reo with a good ui could be good as a moble title to start off then build from there as the mobile space hasn't seen any game like reo and to introduce on all platforms could be a strong selling point like many other games before it. Offering layers of experience and content. I would enjoy to even an open world sand box and or mmorpg style.

Suggesting that Outbreak takes on a social deduction angle is also why I'm surprised we haven't gotten a game based off of The Thing in recent years: with games like Dead Space proudly showing its inspiration for the original John Carpenter movie on its shoulders, as well as all the other popular videogames that've come out with either cameos or set entirely within the world of 80s slasher horror flicks, I really feel as though a game set in The Thing universe that's taking on an Among Us angle would work beautifully.
The game could take place in a number of settings, with the primary mission being to organize a way to escape, all the while ensuring whoever is the Thing either never leaves or eradicates all the survivors. The objectives needed to fulfill could remain in the same areas, but key tools will be randomized on each round, same for tools people can use to either defend themselves or prove that they themself or other players are who they say they are.
I am aware that there's a supposed remake of The Thing game from the early 2000s, which I don't have the strongest feelings about, simply because that wasn't a game I grew up with and don't have the largest connection to. It's... definitely a game of its era, to say the least. It would be cool to see the John Carpenter take on the story get another chance, though, and with what's popular in the multiplayer gaming scene, there could be ways to make it work.

I much appreciate this video. The Outbreak games has been a long time favorite.
Regarding the number of proposed maps, what was the source for it being 18 of them? I recall there was 20, however I don't recall the source.
Regarding the "imposter" element, I disagree. Sure there will be those who like it, but overall I think it would dull or frustrate the experience over time and would detract from Outbreak's charm.
Regarding evolving the game, I would like to preserve the original fixed third person camera angles. However, I would accept Outbreak being remade in like fashion of RE 2/3/4 remakes, provided they bring back all the original scenarios and revisit at least some of the unused ones. And if they add a original RE3 style Mercenaries mode secondary extra mode (even if remade using modern remake over the should style) it would be a nice bonus.

If I had to pick a game for a new Outbreak to Mimic, I would pick Killing Floor. Leveling up your characters individually with goals, challenges, secrets, and Easter eggs in each stage. But I also dig having the sleeper agent every so often. Not every game, bc that would just create such hunts. Just RNG that part and have paranoia run rampant bc you don't even know if there is an agent in your game. But the fear is always there.

What I can say is rerelease outbreak as a standard co op and add a multiplayer mode where they have a timer to escape something like RE resistance where you have to find key items they would need to escape while trying to stay alive while using the randomness generated so the items never appear at the same place, also having the maps huge and multi layer for exploration. more maps/locations, if they want to add microtransactions they can sell skins/outfits.

Best thing to solve the reply ability concerns would be VR2 online play or simply a unique creation character build using your own self image. Since capcom like to mimic other titles, it's possible to copy Fortnites map system as a dlc, even if it's just mini maps of the famous resident evil locations.

Most people ruin the experience by using a 3rd party program called a tracker..which gives them a lot of information that they shouldnt have.

  • @Mecha120

I think it should remain mostly untouched but with everything bundled into one game. I think a classic RE experience might actually be refreshing for modern gamers considering the only recent release that does that is the GOG trilogy. Definitely don't incorporate any kind of PVP or at least make it an optional mode. If there has to be some form of modernization, allow lobbies to customize how many players in a match ranging from the original 4 to all 8 characters being playable simultaneously and just scaling the difficulty based on that.
Also to help make it inviting or engaging to people who might not even like the classic formula, allow additional people into the lobby as spectators to watch how everyone's progressing simultaneously. I would even take a twist on your PVP formula of a sabateur and instead, they're acting as Umbrella researchers observing how a human population would handle their BOW's in the form of live CCTV footage of each person or location.

I'll always remember how obnoxious the RE:O fanbase was back on the Capcom Unity forums. They were not doing much to win people over to their cause, constantly showing their whole asses, while simultaneously demanding Capcom cancel upcoming games to make room for a new or remastered Outbreak. They got so annoying that I was actively rooting for them to fail. At one point Capcom nuked all of the old discontinued game sub-forums, and made a point to tell the Outbreak fans to simmer the hell down and leave their grievances in the General forum and *only* the general forum.

Porting would seem lazy and sort of mess up the lore for the RE Remakes. Remaking Outbreak would be logical but given that the new RE engine has its limitarions, its going to be difficult. RE 2 and 3 zombies literally lose frames the farther you go. Outbreak would need to run on a powerful engine to handle a giant map, zombies, items, and of course the online players. There is a good chance they are working on it or at least experimenting on the idea.

Yeah, the best explanation for why there is no Outbreak Remake from the devs is to look at Itchy Tasty by Alex Aniel (A former RE dev) which explains remaking it will need too many resources unless the online aspects were removed and re-releases/ports would be impossible due to technical difficulties.

i want the game to be remade. this is how i imagine to be profitable and can be a long term online service game.
Make the base game with at least 5 stages just like the old game.
    release new stages/characters per patches.
give the players the ability to edit stages or create by themselves(for replayability)
for their profit, i don't know if the gacha formula would work here but something like hoyoverse formula might work
or sell costumes and weapon cosmetics like if you pick up a pipe it would have like a ribbon on it or somesht.
then use the left4dead formula too. make enemy players play as special zombies to stop the human players from progressing.
for the story, i think raccoon city is big enough to create a bunch of fictional places.
or they can always make a stand alone story with an outbreak of the area. the area in resident evil 5 and 6 would work. or that resident evil village to, they can really expand the game so much with this.
