Awesome idea and video! Just a suggestion, I always put a rain guard above the opening , and I ensure that the opening is completely closed off around the camera to prevent wasp, ants, or any small bugs from getting in. I use weather strip and any kind of foam to seal it off. Just wrap the foam with camo duct tape (If the foam is not a dark color).

C2 B thanks for the input! I actually had my stealthcam out for the last month and checked it today and had a mean looking spider in there! Lol definitely will have to bugproof it!

Clever idea, and thank you for sharing. Does the box drain well?

Thanks for the video. I went to HD, the only boxes they had were 2 inches thick would not fit any of my cameras. they were $22. Any that had a slot for a big switch like yours were $40.
You obviously have a better HD than I do.thanks for the work

Rhino Rider I used the home depot app on my phone to see what they had before even going down there, have you tried that? Might be able to have some shipped to your store. Good luck though! And thanks for the comment

Just a couple of things. 1. There are smaller boxes that will fit cameras better and they have a padlock tab already. 2. The boxes do not keep the camera from being stolen. They just rip the box off of the tree and take the whole thing with them. 3. I don't waste my time with these boxes anymore as it doesn't prevent them from being stolen. 4. Good idea, may deter some, but not all.

Scott McMillan I agree if someone wants to take it they will take anything regardless. But it is a major deterrent. I actually did have one stolen and had many people on it before that, but it took a guy wanting it so bad that he brought a cordless grinder in some of the roughest country to cut the lag bolts behind the box. Like I said before, it is a major deterrent, but if somebody wants something, they are going to take it. My deterrent is just a cheaper way to protect them a little better, makes them work for it, instead of just taking the strap off the tree. And there are probably boxes that do fit better buuuuut thats all home depot had at the time.

Hey Scott, question. In #1 what smaller boxes are you referring too? Thank Bud! -Fletch

There are just some smaller ones. You just have to shop around at the different home improvement stores. I don't use then anymore. I place my camera's a minimum of 7 to 10 up in a tree pointing down. Deer and people don't look up for camera's, they look around at waist high. I don't do any security measures other than putting up a minimum of 7 to 10 feet high. Haven't had a camera stolen since doing this.

Nicely presented..You could show how to secure to the tree 🌲..Figure out a solution for recovering your card with minimal work. Oh !! Bury a claymore mine in the ground in front..We have to fight evil with evil .

Charlie Collanbine it was actually a breaker box. Just a 2 pole, 70 amp breaker box from home depot. They’re like 13 bucks

And thats what sucks about thieves, if they want it, theyll take it no matter what. But anything that will slow them down or deters them a little bit is what I’m after.

Terry Beasley stealth is the only way. What they can’t see can’t be taken.

Not many thieves go around tromping through the bush looking for trail cameras to steal, its a waste of their time and they stand a good chance of getting caught, using a grinder isn't a preferred method, way too noisy......and not many will carry a grinder or a crow bar....Its more for that dishonest hunter that happens upon a trail camera and not many of them will even bother once they see a lock box or a cable lock. all of my cameras are high in the trees or just out of arms reach...that alone is a deterrent...
