    Emma you should use a mulch to prevent weeds, i use grass clippings from my lawn and straw that i pick up from the supermarket in the pet bedding section, which also adds organic matter to the soil, this method makes weeds weak which are then easier to pull up, after 1 growjng season of using mulch my weeds have reduced by 95%, i also chop up weeds in a bucket and sprinkle them onto my beds thinly to add more organic matter, which feeds my plants as they compost in the beds

    The poo could be fox and yes it really really stinks,I also think those weeds are buttercups a top 5 of invasive weeds dig it up when ever you see it ,put a cane through the hole in the top of those domes so they won't blow away, keep on wacking stuff in ❤

    That ground covering weed looks like creeping buttercup and can take over fairly quickly. I broke a trowel hand digging it out, it's a brute. The poop will likely be a fox poop if it smells really bad, however cats can definitely do ones that size 😂. Although you have a gloved hand just remember you're then touching your camera, moving your hair out your face or touching your clothes. Best to buy a cheap trowel from B&M or home bargains (the type that will bend under the slightest use) and have it as a pooper scooper, keep yourself safe from any disease the animals may be carrying

    The bit that sticks out on your watering can is where you put your 'Rose' (the thing that makes rain) on when you're not using it. The ground covering weed you mentioned is Creeping Buttercup. Regards 🌱

    Generally the advice is to water soil before putting seeds/seedlings in so that only a light water after is needed to dampen any compost you may have dusted on top. Limits disturbance and water pooling.

    Having lived in Australia, I am certain that poo is Crocodile. Very typical for them to mark their territory after eating a badger or dog. As a priority I would not get too close to that pond edge. They tend to ambush allotment workers - probably why next door is abandoned. The crocodile has eaten all the previous tenants.

    • @emmasallotmentdiaries
      @emmasallotmentdiaries  Рік тому +2

      @@emmasallotmentdiaries I think a mustard compound called Crocadilli deters them, a few dabs behind the ears makes someone unpalatable to the crocodile.

    Emma, I hope the council lets you take on the next plot. no need for it to sit vacant for sure! That was probably notRocky's poo, ad he likely would rather use a nice dry sandy or dusty area for his/her? business. Maybe a fox? That said, if a cat has a poorly tummy, they can make a looser, bigger mess. Li you wanted to provide Rocky with " facilities" just fence off an out of the way dry area, with a bit dusty course sand dry soil, Rocky would use it and cover his mess with the dry sand. Only the dominant cat will leave it exposed so everyone knows who owns it. . Rocky would enjoy an elevated perch to sun on, and a place to shelter from the weather...l He doesn't need much. an old work bench against the side of the shed. even a box on its side with a layer of straw or wood shavings for a cozy bed. He will pay you back a thousand times over keeping mice away and discouraging those ravaging birds! I look forward to watching the pumpkins and courgettes grow like mad! ❤️😄❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️

      Are you sure it's dry all the way through? Newer composts (without peat) can often look dry on the surface. Try sticking your finger in to see if it's dry all the way through. If not, it'll be fine. If it is dry, try watering from the bottom instead of the top. Place pots into a shallow pool of water to soak it up. Also, try mulching pots and seed trays with gravel or strulch, should keep the water in for longer! x
