Alotment and gardening has been my saviour. As I have got older I’m 45 now and me, our son and hubby love being outside and gardening, growing our own and just being frugal xxx
Emma, you are devastatingly charming! This is the first account I found when I got my first allotment in March (and was very overwhelmed) this year and you've been an absolute blessing! Thank you for sharing your work!
Just love your attitude to gardening. I'm a whack it in girl too so had to have the tshirt 😉 Thought I might as well go for it and get a seed sub too, even picked up a block of voir at checkout to see what it's all about.
Oh amazing! So glad I've inspired you, and in the best possible way too! Really hope you love the t-shirt and the seed subscription too. And coir is amazing, I can absolutely vouch for that! x
This Friday video was a pleasant surprise since i thought you were on vacation until Monday. I have been transplanting vegetables and flowers for nearly 60 years but in your honor last Thursday I "WACKED IN" 44 sweet pepper plants.
I saw on Huw Richards u tube channel that see weed is another great way to keep sails and slugs out of your plants they won't cross over it because its dry and prickly its also great for the soil
Definitely going to get a T shirt in lilac! Just put in my Romanesco seeds, I totally forgot, so thanks for reminding me. Hope you had a lovely camping trip xx
@@emmasallotmentdiaries 😁 I picked up the pink tee... and I have been following your whack it in methodology lol this is my first year of ever growing anything and I've taken on my own allotment whilst also helping my 6 year old son with his own child's allotment... wish me luck lol
I sowed my SeedCraft Harlequin squash a few weeks ago! Also never grown it before. 100% seed germination rate! I'm not a pumpkin grower so don't do your grow-along, so looking forward to seeing how your Harlequin squash develop!
Oh how exciting! Yes, the seeds I get from seed craft are always really good and I have a lot of success from them. So excited to see the Harlequin squash! x
Yay, got my T-shirt! I don’t have any other social media though. I’ve whacked in most of my seeds this month. Always find it easier as all the frosts have gone now (I live up north in England). I have lots of problems with slugs … but my hosta’s are ok thankfully. Although it’s odd because I know slugs love hostas 🤔
Thanks, Emma, very inspiring! I’ve just sown next years foxgloves and hollyhocks. Do hope I can keep them alive for that long… I’m gonna try your zinnias and sow chives. Love the T-shirts, but will probably buy a bag (if I can use IDeal). They are ever so nice. Whack on!
I agree about Seed Craft. Unfortunately I stopped my subscription but only because I have waaay to many seeds. But once they diminish I’ll be back to subscribing. 😊
Hi Emma 👋 I have been following you for a while now and know you have trouble with slugs & snails. I came across a vlog on you tube about making garlic water at home it’s been very successful in my garden and my plants have been left alone. Have a lovely weekend take care Louise X
Hiya Emma How are you? I just sowed some sage in a pot at the front of our flat as it gets the most sunshine. Im also growing potatoes, swede, beetroot , radish, lettuce in my Alotment. X
I was just thinking I need to start my sunflowers inside and then transplant because the bugs are out full force and they eat all my babies. Hoping that growing protected till they get bigger and transplanting does the trick.
Love the videos Emma. I’m a new veg grower this year after moving out of London to a home with enough garden space to have my own mini back door allotment (2 raised beds and some pots) and have found your videos really reassuring, thanks for showing the realities! I was trying to find a link to your printed gardening journal you was working on way back, but couldn’t find it. If you’re still selling it could you re-post the link? Looking forward to the ‘Whack It In t-shirt and tote bag to arrive in the coming weeks 😃
Hi Emma, would love to be able to grow spring onions, just can’t and oh to see a lovely row of carrots outdoors, like my old Dad used to, but the only way I can grow them is in huge pots in the P/T, however everything else is doing very well, and we’re growing 3 different melons this year as we had great success with Mangomel last year, 4 from 1plant! This year am attempting to grow sweet potatoes in the p/t, and making Comfrey tea for the 1st time too! 7:24 😮
Just subscribed to Seed Club - looking forward to that starting. Only just found your channel as haven’t really used you tube for gardening things and I got recommended to Whack It In by someone who follows Jessie on Plot 37 and said I should watch you - now subscribed to you as well.
Is it too late to start tomatoes from seed. I’ve had no luck over the last few years growing tomatoes. Now I know they are supposed to be the simplest thing to grow but any advice. I’m not sure when to pick off side shoots, do I leave/remove the flowers? Do I remove leaves once the fruit grows? Damn it seem complicated for a simple plant.
Here in the US - I 'think' I ordered one of your brilliant shirts, but I'm not sure. My credit card and the website email says I did. The website itself doesn't seem to be as certain? But fingers crossed. We spent a lot of time this afternoon whacking in some seeds!
Oh yes, I didn't get a confirmation email until it was dispatched, but it arrived safe and sound. I hope yours does too! And thank you for ordering one. Do let me know if it arrives! xx
Hiya Emma hope your merchandise does well and yes would love to see pics with others wearing I’m only on ytube btw. Blessings luv Ontario Canada Thankyou 🇨🇦🐝
Yes your target audience is the new gardener. Nice advice, get sowing. EDIT?: YOU HAVE YOUR OWN MERCH! OMG EDIT2: GOT A T-SHIRT, NOT THAT I NEED ONE BUT YOU DESERVE THE SUPPORT FOR POSTING X3 A WEEK ALL THIS TIME
If you've sown them in a row and all the seedlings are coming up in a neat row, then they are probably parsnips! If you scattered them, then who knows! Haha! x
It is advised to sow courgette and squash seeds on their edge. This reduces the chance of the seeds rotting.
Very true.
Tried both ways with 8 varieties and dozens of seeds and didn't make any difference at all. It was more seed quality related.
Alotment and gardening has been my saviour. As I have got older I’m 45 now and me, our son and hubby love being outside and gardening, growing our own and just being frugal xxx

Melon tip from my own failure, cut the first melon right off. This will aid the plant to continue producing melons to maturity.
