      I follow a few data recovery channels and this one is the best, not that the others are bad, but this is number ONE.

    Looks like there is a difference in the firmware versions of those controllers. And of course manufacturers have disabled the possibility to read and write the firmware.... Thanks for your tedious work, man! All the community appreciates it very much!

      Firmware isn’t stored on controllers, instead it is in a reserved section of the NAND. Most likely case is that this controller is “hard-keyed” or serialized to the firmware/NAND.

    always kool to see ..so the controller is the bios per say that finds the data on the memory?..and you called the " re-balled" when putting the paste thru that stencil ...so kool i found this channel ..thanks for answering all my questions :)

      in some cases controller is not going to be unique, and can be swapped out (I've done so in many cases on this channel). This specific unit, and most of the recent Sandisk stuff is not swappable tho

    Always most interesting, ok not successful but fascinating to watch. Shows importance of keeping copies of ones drives or data contained on them as backups. I have my SSD data backed on HDD.

      indeed, copy is the only thing that can save from dataloss. Thanks for watching

    I'm surprised you don't use a flat blade solder iron tip for cleaning the pads and removing the old solder. I saw it on Kris Fix Germany. He uses it a lot. It looks really handy.

      I have it on a different iron, but I do need to order it for the 115

    Hi Erkin... Thank you for your great videos... I enjoy them every time... I have a question... at minute 6:12 there you can see, that one pad on the memorychip is missing... Why this is not a problem? 😳

    • @hddrecoveryservices
      @hddrecoveryservices  11 місяців тому

      great question, but the pad is not missing. Often ground pads will go dark after heat exposure. It could be scraped off to the shine again or flux and solder. I cleaned it with a blade, but it was cut from the video I guess

      I have not even seen the 19 yet, Moti something tells me it should be OK. You need to put the unit into safe mode and see if controller responds

    Try an empty 128 NAND , solder it in place of the NAND, then format it, remove it, and re-solder the 128 NAND that was not read. This way we can fool the controller maybe

    • @hddrecoveryservices
      @hddrecoveryservices  11 місяців тому +1

      I'd need a vendor utility for something like that. It won't work dude

  • @orbatos
    @orbatos 11 місяців тому

    Increasingly this will not work, as factory "pairing" of chips through secure enclaves is trivial to automate in manufacturing and both ensures devices cannot be repaired by 3rd parties *and* the "security" excuse applies.

    • @hddrecoveryservices
      @hddrecoveryservices  11 місяців тому

      I have not tested it personally, but you need to confirm that the controller is bad first. If the unit goes to ROM mode - controller is most likely OK

      @@hddrecoveryservices what if both controllers are fully functional? Can one EEPROM be read and copied onto the other chip?

    • @karthikharirp7299

      @@leovbernardo generally manufacturers lock their firmware code from copying and they burn specific fuse to read and write the firmware, so there is no way to copy the firmware legally.
      Even though we try to read means we may get only encrypted files.

    • @thegeniushimself
      @thegeniushimself 11 місяців тому

      Actually, companies who do this exist - I have used them several times to recover firmware from protected custom chips and actually transfer it to another device. Not cheap, not fast. It can be challenging to find an empty or reprogrammable chip(s).
      My reasons were different; it has been to replicate devices where both the source and the bin have been lost, or recreating special obsolete equipment@@hddrecoveryservices
